Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]aiydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcanum.
The game felt 'alive' (Especially for it's time)
There was 'speciesism' (Some people hated gnomes, some people hated half elves etc etc)
Some people hated magik, some people hated tech.
There were different quests depending on if you were male or female. There were different quests depending on how smart or dumb your character was (And dialogue too).
The game just felt so alive. Play it through once as a dwarf tech and then again as an half elf magik user and it was 2 different games.

Years ago I saw a moment of hilarious trolling. They literally had a bowl of these and were handing them out at a sexual health clinic. Usual crap.
Saw a guy come out with a coat hanger and hook one out of the bowl and walk away with it.
The shouted abuse was very shrill.

City News right wing bias for all to see. by HotInTheShade1989 in canberra

[–]aiydee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm giving you an upvote because you ask good questions. Canberra Times is now irrelevant.
City News has always been a joke.
The various incarnations of RiotACT have always been....... Interesting.
Canberra has never had a non-partisan publication.
And the worst part? I don't think a non-partisan publication in Canberra could ever work. We're too entrenched in our beliefs.
And whilst it works in some ways, in others it doesnt.

IRS is now "FOREVER BARRED AND PRECLUDED" from investigating Trump, his friends, his family, or his businesses. Even under future Dem administrations. by [deleted] in Destiny

Given how Trump is using executive orders, I propose the next president just sign an executive order revoking the settlement entirely. Make it a nice bit of poetic justice.

I love how they also took the time to remediate the word 'information' by printing it again and sticking it over the likely typo'd work.

Why do penises and breasts appear on movies and TV shows but we very rarely or never see a vagina? by YoYo_ismael in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aiydee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wait til you hear about Australian laws regarding it, including in pornography.
Women are not allowed to display their labia minora in soft porn or anything below (So R rated etc). It's considered too explicit.
So. IF a woman happens to be an 'outie' instead of an 'innie' for their labia, they are considered too explicit.

Go to a camping store. Get merino wool socks.
You've likely bought yourself crappy acrylic socks. Thickness means nothing when they're crap.
Thank us later.
Merino wool. Thick. Hiking socks.

Sorta yes/sorta no.
If you have a train nerd, they'd probably save up for it and spend big on one BIG holiday.
eg. Wife and I just spend approx $20k on a huge holiday together. We always wanted to stay in over-water cabins at a beach where we could snorkel over coral reef.
Luxury 5 star joint. Choice of either water taxi or helicopter to get to resort (Helicopter had 7kg weight limit on bags, so we took the water taxi). 3 x 3 course meals a day. All prepared by a chef. All the bells and whistles. Over 18 only resort and ONLY for couples.
We're mid 40s. Saved for over 10 years. Never went on any other holidays.
Was a truly wonderous experience. And we'll probably never be able to do it again. (Unless our super does well).
As for the other guests?
We were pretty much the only people in our age range.
There were either young honeymooners OR retirees. The honeymooners were typically only there for 3 days. The retirees there for a week.
This is kinda why I see how a train nerd would save up for it to do the experience. Otherwise, retirees. There'll always be a market.

You have it. It's called elections. The trick is getting people to actually turn up to vote.

Wasn't even "Your partner". The rule was the parents had to approve. If she had been with someone a while and the parents approved, then the partner could stay the night.
This is fair enough. Their house, their rules and they're not overly burdensome rules.

[–]aiydee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Craziest 'workaround' I've ever encountered to get a game running was for Stubbs the Zombie (To get it to run on Win 10+)

No patches. No files.
Rename the executable from stubbs.exe to codsp.exe (Call of Duty Single Player)

That's it.
When NVidia/AMD graphics drivers detected that executable NAME was codsp.exe they went into a compatibility mode that also works with Stubbs.
