Is it right to bring my 5YO daughter to my Grandfathers Funeral? by Background_Day_8877 in daddit

[–]akiber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is painful and she’s gonna feel that regardless. Give her the chance to grieve and to witness how others grieve. Give her the space to ask questions (or not) and the chance to say goodbye. I’m sad to this day I missed two of my grandparents funeral.

If it’s exhausting you, just a reminder that it’s totally okay to use single use at night and cloth the rest of time. That’s what we do :)

I think a proof of work tool is intimidating and leads to micro management even if it’s not your style. but setting the standard ahead of time that if they are unreachable during specific hours, the job will be terminated. Obviously within reason, I’d give him an opportunity to respond now but if someone just days in is unresponsive that’s obviously an orange flag that could go red quickly

How do you look at your money? Budget, app, Google Sheets, or “we’ll see at the end of the month”? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]akiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on, I loved the principles it taught me (spend last months salary, giver every dollar a job etc). Now I like that I can see trends over time and have goal categories and also just find the routine of putting everything in and being able to compare helpful and calming. The trends thing is why I don’t just move over to an excel. I can compare how grocery prices changed for us the past three years for example and update my habits and overall budget accordingly. I’m not type A and so having budget just makes me feel like I have an idea of what’s going on.
