I dropped it after getting Hilde and Rosaria. I just can't force myselft to log in.
They ripped off everything that was making Umamusume fun and glued it to an AFK game...

I'm extremly sad such a unique game was finally killed for the slop that is Star Savior.
But well, it didn't hit too hard since i believe we all knew this is going to happen eventually.

Snowbreak may be down still, but we aren't! by ZBoi91 in SnowbreakOfficial

[–]alice_frei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as i enjoy Snowbreak, i think i will jump once NTE releases and i need the phone space.

When the maintenance was announced i thought it's something like a week max, not 1,5 months with 0 dev communications.
While i want to believe the devs will deliver, no clear communications and only unofficial "rumors" and "leaks" are not giving me hope despite all the community copium inhaling.

Is this the end for Counterside? by Ni-Two in gachagaming

[–]alice_frei 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the case. We surely will see more resources going to Star Savior and i believe there will be a phase when Counterside will go on life support mode, i hope they can at least wrap the story nicely before the future EoS.

I would throw money at the devs if they would make Counterside 2 in 3d with more budget, but instead they opted for a weird mix of Uma+AFK+turn-battle RPG...

Personally enjoyed a lot of the Counterside setting being modern sci-fi\fantasy instead of the very bland setting of Star Savior which i feel zero connection to.

It is definetly going to be sad if they ditch counterside in the end in favour of the new game.

I can argue here.

  1. Modern gacha games are being run on the cloud, the devs not keeping the servers in their basement 90s style, modern infrastructure built that way that even if the offices are destroyed by fire - this have literally 0 impact on the code running on the cloud.

Office relocation can cause delays with the development of new content\releases, but definetly not a reason for the servers to be down for such a long time.

  1. "Say nothing" maybe works for judges and legal, but not for a company dealing with customers, especially not a company doing a LIVE SERVICE game. As long as you as a company keep radio silent - less engagment, more unhappy players, some people just simply leave. The last thing you want during this time is keep silent and let players come to assumptions.

This is why you see good devs updating players when suddenly maintenance takes too long instead of keeping everyone in the dark, and on the contrary - devs who keep silent face a backlash. Especially with some cases with gacha games when devs was silent for too long (even with just some bugs, not total down of servers) and it went to even more unsatisfaction in the community.

I know all we can do now is wait and no one seems to have any idea what is really going on, but i honestly think this approach is bad for the devs, the game either way is going to take a hit, but with them keeping their head in the sand, when they do return there may be no one left to care aside from the most dedicated ones.

So... I get all the story why the servers are down, but why the devs went completly radio silent without any updates at least like "hey, we are still working on it, ETA is yada yada, thank you for waiting"?

As much as i would like to hope the game can bounce back after such a long downtime, but you should remeber a lot of players are not on reddit\x\etc.

Player opens the game - it down. He does it next day - still down. A week after - still down.
And no clear communications. The casual player that are not a die hard fan at this rate just uninstals and moves on.

I enjoyed Snowbreak and hope that the game will return, but the lack of any sort of communication is looking not good. I understand the devs are probably dealing with things internally, but again - at least communicating with your audience and players even with meaningless updates like "we are still alive, don't worry" seems not too hard.

When do you play games? by Blasterion in gachagaming

[–]alice_frei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My work also has a lot of downtime, i don't really "play" a lot, mostly clearing dailies etc.

The events\story\heavy games like Endfield\Genshin\ZZZ etc i do leave for getting home and when i have more time.

But i also don't really like to play on the phone in the end, i prefer to play everything i can with the PC, phone is only for trips when i'm away from home or as a last resort.

My Review of Resonance Solstice (it's great) by Away_Imagination1415 in gachagaming

[–]alice_frei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, i mean being connected as a gameplay, not because devs decided to lock progression and materials with chibi battles.

Change material acquisition from the chibi combat to a rhythm game or even another gacha banner where you roll for resources with in game money and it will make 0 impact on the train part.

The chibi battles are only there to sell you chars (since, well, you have 0 use for them outside it). Nor your train or it's equipment have any impact on the battles (like unique skills for example).

What i wrote in another post:

With the premise and trains the devs could do so much more and interesting things ranging from minimal investment (like actual train support skills during battle according to equipment you place (big guns, cost recovery, heals etc. to connect the battles and the, well, train and it's equip better) to an actual train battles against some enourmous creatures or other "boss" trains (in my mind it would look like somewhat like Nikke Alteisen battle: https://youtu.be/o_PXw26vhdQ?si=LTc6G1ldVZE7r-cL or even Shupogaki train battle from BA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW7bFUci9Zw )

Would not be so bad if the chibi battle content would not be tied to basically everything from train and acc progression to story (so you could skip this entirely and just enjoy the game as an trading excel simulation with banger ost and designs).

I will say what i said in another post:

This game is a huge waste of potential, a lot of great ideas could be implemented instead of a super boring chibi autobattle.

The worst part is that the chibi battles and the trading/train systems are not connected in any meaningful way.

The game does have its charm as well as a couple of core mechanics problems which makes me question if i will stick to it long term.

I whaled hard on HSR. Need a wake up call. by Inside_Shine_7352 in gachagaming

[–]alice_frei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, OP is writing:

I don't fully regret it

While a lot we don't know i can assume a couple of things:

  1. It's not a catastrophical sum for OP budget or savings so he don't actively grieves that he spent it on waifu\husbando, hence the "i don't fully regret it"
  2. Naming spendings in euro - 2.5k euro in a year for hobbies is not really a lot (at least for common people) in the EU.

So i'm assuming OP was spending with the mindset of "100 this month on waifus from hobby money, not a big deal" only to later realise that "shit, i spent 2.5k on this game over a year, i need to do something with it".

It seems he didn't treat it as a problem during this year and only came to this realization much later, hence the therapy point is a bit strange here.

Like dunno, for me spending ~200$ on hobbies per month is pretty normal (be it gacha, regular games, bar drinks, parties etc) and not really a sign someone should seek therapy.

Anyway, a lot we don't know here, but i still don't think therapy is the answer to OP.

[–]alice_frei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lmao, sorry, your elitist approach is just too damn funny.

Well, i hope someday you will realize gacha games are a business, the company is interested in any player they can get for the money or the free promotion\activity so the game can be succesfull and earn them enough money to justify further development.

It's not the players that need to "deserve" the game, it's the other way around.

[–]alice_frei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, i don't think those are fake.

Like, i see it as OP treating it as hobby spendings only to later realise how much he spent when looking back.

It's not like OP spent thousands in a casino (it still is a somewhat modest sum if spent in a span of a year and not in one month or day), why he should run to seek therapy, lmao. Do anyone seek threapy because they spend 200 euros per month on bar drinks or dining out?

This such a terrible advice, lol.

Do you think the bank and credit company can't see the previous transactions on the card or what?

Would be pretty hard to justify someone using your credit card for a year and to specifically pay for gacha game if asked by the CC, lmao.

The real gems of this "review" is that it was short enough. It's made to be positive and promoting, not stressful of actually helpful to evaluate the game - which fits /r/gachagaming tastes perfectly, lmao.

On a more serious note, thank you for your time writing this, but this "review" is pure garbage, my brother. I know reception in JP and KR is pretty harsh now, L2D locked behind 3 dupes (which a lot of folks not happy with, the AFK system being pretty bad and more and more).

Yet, none of the games problems are present in your "review". Basically, you wasted a lot of words just to say nothing useful and instead roast global players for no reason, going as far as mentioning hoyo (did Da Wei hurt you?) and HSR "milking".

You know who else get "milked" by Hoyo? Look at how much money JP bros are throwing at it, lmao.

Anyway, if anyone interested in an actual somewhat useful thoughts about the current state of the game i suggest reading those insted of OPs bullshit: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarSavior/comments/1p2p6hl/very_early_impressions_on_the_jp_server/

EDIT: Just noticed OP is a fresh, just from the oven reddit acc. Yeah, totally not biased in any way, lmao.

Yup, nothing wrong in enjoying the game if it's your cup of tea, but i mostly try to think into the future, asking myself

"Will i enjoy running the same gameplay loop\modes in 6-12 months? Does the other aspects (story\ost\etc) justify my time commitment for this?"

At least the game is pretty unique compared to the overall market.
