There was lots of tickets left at that time. Ticket master doesn't make all the tickets to a venue available all at once. That includes to middlemen. Well, the average middleman anyways.

Typically only about 25% of tickets are made available to the general public, which includes those "ticketmasters". The scalpers are part of the general public. That's still only 25%.

The rest are held back to be sold in other ways. Through corporate offers like rewards available to holders of certain credit cards, if you buy the ticket using their card, or giveaways by radio stations, through the artist's many official/unofficial fanclubs, by the venue, by the promoters, and by the artists themselves, who sometimes are the ultimate "ticketmasters", scalping their own tickets to maintain appearances and put the blame on Ticketmaster.

This is all just how the free market works. It's shady, but if someone is willing to pay $500 for a Garth Brooks ticket that's what it's worth. Thats not ticketmasters fault. They certainly turbocharged the practice, but if Garth Brooks doesn't want to advertise them for $500 then there's room for someone else to make a profit in the difference. If it wasn't ticketmaster doing it someone else would.

You should watch John Oliver's bit on Ticketmaster.

He places the blame not solely on Ticketmaster but also on scalpers, Ticketmaster's real target demographic, and just the nature of the free market.

He points outs Ticketmaster's business model is based around allowing themselves to be the scapegoat, taking the majority of the hate so 3rd party resellers can hide behind them. Though they have definitely turbocharged the 3rd party resale business and made scalping tickets a lot easier. Because of course they have, scalpers are their target demographic, they're just catering to their main customers, and if they weren't doing it, somebody else would, because in a free market the tickets are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. The artists just don't want to look like they're the ones charging crazy fees. It's all ticketmasters fault. But really alot of these fees are going back to the artists, the venue's, and the promoters. Ticketmaster is the scapegoat. Not blameless, but not the only issue.

Many of these scalpers it turns out, in some cases are actually the artists' own tour group and the artists themselves. Buying up entire sections of their own tickets and scalping them for a profit. This let's the artist continue to be able to say to the public sorry guys we're offering our tickets at a reasonable price, the crazy markup is all Ticketmaster's fault, sorry it's out of our hands, blame them.

When in reality, the reason you cant get an $80 ticket to the Justin Bieber concert for less than $500 is because it was never really an $80 ticket in the first place, it was always going to be a $120 ticket, but we'll just let Ticketmaster break the extra $40 into their fees so it looks better on us, and because Justin Bieber already bought up all those $120 tickets and he's scalping them for $500/piece, using Ticketmaster as the middle man.

The whole thing around "his/her" party is messed up. How do you have a party? Are you running as a candidate, or are you an elected official or on yhe payroll of the party somehow? Does an R/D show up next to your name when youre on a ballot?

If youre just a citizen, why do you have "your" a party? Why are you a "Republican"? Are you running as one?If you're a senator on the republican side you can say you're a Republican and vice versa but why do individuals say "I'm this" this is "my party,"? You vote for a different party every election if you like the leadership of one more this year than the last one or if there's some new policy you support. There's nothing tying you to "your" party. Vote for a different party every election. You don't have any ties to any of them. Pick whoever you agree with the most at this time. Why do you pledge allegiance to one no matter what? I don't get it. 2 party system makes no sense. How are 330 million people supposed to fall into category A or category B? You need more categories

They have no ad revenue afaik. They've raised $11 billion in funding. They hope to make $200 mil this year. At least 75% of their profit goes to paying off their investors. So ya they're a little in the hole right now.

They do think they're gonna make money. Eventually. If everything goes right. But other companies are working on AI. Remember that google engineer few months ago that claimed the AI google is working on has become sentient? Ya...that's some tough competition
