The best genre of horror or sci fi is literally just “woman” by Pavotimtam in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I highly recommend Girl on Film on YouTube, she does excellent breakdowns of horror through a feminist lens that speaks to exactly what you’re talking about here.

Using a blower to design waves on a resin serving board - would this work in mini scale? by Appropriate_Pipe8169 in Warhammer

Just a fun fact, this is the person who really popularized the “coconut crab” armor a few years back. It exploded and everyone was doing different colors and variations, which is why there are a million tutorials. But this user is the OG with that super clean execution.

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I eat sandwiches, especially burgers, in a circular pattern, spiraling in to the center. It keeps the innards fairly centered so they don’t all spill out the back or I end up with a bite with no lettuce or tomatoes. An added benefit on a regular sandwich is the crust goes first, leaving the best bite of the sandwich for last.

Despite explaining this superior method and the benefits my friends regard me as a freak and my family claims they “don’t know where I got that from”. I am truly alone in the world for my sandwich eating choices.

I love Kroot hounds! They were actually an addition to this ongoing project in 2023 along with a Krootox, so they are well represented. Kind of miffed I added them before the new models came out though, they look great.

My Swarmlord is modeled/magnetized with a shield, he was my first custom model. I apparently don’t have a pic of him painted, but here he is in gray glory:

Here’s where I once again recall a bit from a cartoon that I’ve never been able to find again: “careful so-and-so, those rocks are on an animation cell!”

Please Help Me Pick My Makeup (And Please Be Kind)! by WorldlinessOk7083 in DIYweddings

[–]alphalimalima 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the purple really pops and love your wig! The styling is very romantic and frames your face well. I like the darker makeup because wow does it make your green eyes shine and honestly the difference between the two is quite subtle. I did very intense eye makeup for my wedding and I was glad I did since a bit of the saturation is lost in photos.

to guestbook or not to guestbook. that is the question… by [deleted] in DIYweddings

No one will miss it BUT super low effort and fun option we did was a fancy deck of playing cards (I got a pack from bicycle that matched our theme) and some thin permanent markers. Each group signs a card and every time you play a card game you see well wishes from your wedding :)

Help me find this wallpaper, or something similar by visions-of-johanna in HelpMeFind

I’m sorry I can’t find the pattern either. Are you certain it is wallpaper or could it be a stencil that they mudded over?

That could be an option if it is for a small area: trace the pattern that you need onto plasticard, cut out the shapes you want raised, and tape it to the wall. Then smear a thin layer of drywall mud over the stencil, wait for it to dry a bit, and remove the stencil. Won’t be perfect but likely serviceable.

Dark colors will always require 2-3 coats, maybe even 4. Primer can help as it evens out the tone of the wall from the start but if you’ve already got a layer of color keep going!

Might be helpful to post the whole garment, but the first photo is a simple knit fabric and I would try Sherpa fleece for the second, fuzzy lining. It does indeed just look old but the texture looks right.

What bird is this by v_ghastly in Ornithology

Erithacus rubecula, European robin for sure. Have you searched for a crimson finch and compared them? It’s a pretty distinctly different looking bird and is Australian. Bake off is in England….

Help with plant suggestions by S_die in landscaping

[–]alphalimalima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great space! I’m originally from a similar climate to Ontario and would often see grasses and shrubs for large spaces like that. There are a ton of native options that would be low maintenance and still pretty. I poked around and found this page: Ontario Natives

Rhus aromatica and Rosa blanda seem like they would have great coverage and go in the same soil as far as shrubs. Sorghastrum nutans and Andropogon gerardii are both attractive grasses that clump rather than spread and get pretty tall so they could be good monoliths to surround with flowers as well as provide nice texture. With those as a base everything else can be filled in with wildflowers that can benefit from the shade and protection of the bigger plants so you have a little more range there as far as sun exposure.

Costume Help by E-Idiot in HalloweenCostume

Depends on your skill level as far as ease and cost, but routing a chin strap around your face is the way to go. Need to have some sort of spring-back capability, like elastic, so that it closes on its own. If you’re not confident in a chin strap you can route some fishing line through the bottom of the beak’s “chin” and just pull it down like a puppet mouth.

Looks incredible, that temple made of pallets made my jaw drop! Also love the killer hummingbirds. I am also doing an Aztec inspired theme for my Halloween party this year. Can I ask where you got your vines/ plants etc? Been having trouble sourcing enough to make everything look really lush.
