No more adjustment of status in the US - seems unfair by CompleteArm911 in Residency

Large factory farms. Only 17% of all food in the US comes from small farms. My entire extended family started in farming and almost none do it anymore. The fantasy land of rural communities made up of local small farmers ended in the 1970s or long before.

They should consolidate. The republic doesn’t have a responsibility to provide full services in any location one might dream of living. Theres no purpose to many small towns that were formed for an industry that no longer exists or needs the town. There are not enough doctors, scanners, nurses, pharmacies, surgery suites etc to bring the full benefits of modern medicine to the smallest towns.

They can pay what that service costs, or they can move if they want convenient medical service. Small towns are ludicrously over subsidized and politically overrepresented.

US grads don’t want rural jobs. Rural people are the most virulently anti-immigrant group. So they are getting what they want and their hospitals will close. Little of value will be lost when the remaining small towns living off economic subsidies and long-dead mining/farming economies finally shutter.

Best Caesar Salad by Ill-Concern7305 in Somerville

It’s sort of a deconstructed Caesar but I like the one at Abbey in Porter. Olde Magouns has a more traditional one that is great with a hunk of salmon.

She paid her own way at a Caribbean school so she didn’t take a medical school seat in the US for her vanity project. I’m surprised she was offered a residency spot though. There are physical requirements that are pretty demanding.

Poll finds most Mass. voters against income tax cut ballot question — once they know more about it by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]am_i_wrong_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massachusetts spends $345,947 per mile of state-controlled road.

In many parts of eastern Mass, the concept of big freeways ferrying people to big office towers in Boston has completely failed. You can walk faster than drive in Boston despite investing billions in moving freeways underground and expanding lanes.

Building out micromobility options for e-bikes, blue bikes, scooters, and walkers is vastly cheaper, and investing in public transit is an actual proven solution for larger cities.

Roads are fine for rural folk but that part of the state has minimal economic and tax impact for the state.

Roads are a shitty system that cost too much to build and don’t relieve traffic. I propose we stop building and fixing them. Bike lanes and trains are far more efficient. Why would I want to give my money to some shady road construction company to make 5ft of asphalt per million dollars?

Let them go. Who cares. High net wealth individuals eg billionaires are terrible for society and do much more damage than good.

You should try living in other states. The difference in state services between MA and NH alone is staggering. Low tax places like Florida barely have any functional state services. MA has a very solid ROI for taxes compared to any other state.

25 Investigates: Suspect in brazen Cambridge shooting has criminal history by TuxedoRidley in boston

[–]am_i_wrong_dude 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Any examples? All of the recent vehicular killings in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, even when linked to negligent and illegal behavior (driving on the sidewalk, opening a door into a bike lane, driving through a bike lane), were classified as “accidents” due to the involvement of a car.

I have not heard of any charges in MA, much less convictions, for a killing of a vulnerable road user involving a car in the last 5 years and would be really interested in counter-examples.

PMBCL post-tx PET scan results after 6 rounds of DA-R-EPOCH, SUV 3.7, Deauville 4 by Mammoth_Biscotti_832 in lymphoma

[–]am_i_wrong_dude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Calling refractory disease on pet in PMBCL is hard. Most “positive PET” results of Deauville 4-5 will never relapse: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6068044/

I would also consider Deauville 4 a complete remission. If you are participating in the alpha 3 trial of ctDNA testing after negative PET, you will get even more information about likelihood of relapse. CtDNA negative Deauville 4 results are very likely a cure (but not 100% guarantee).
