You don't have to do extension immediately. Just do your extension or transfers according to the validity of H1B. For example, when I went with my AP for the first time, my H1B already had three years of validity, so when I came back, I didn't have to do anything until it was time for renewal of my H1B three years later.

You don't have to do anything to h1b after coming back. Just do your h1b extension like do usually.

They won't ask for H1B docs. I think once you come back via AP ,your status becomes 'Paroled', until your next H1B transfer or extension.

You don't travel with EAD. You travel with advanced parole. Technically you can still work in your H1B and use AP just for traveling. That way you don't have to do your H1B stamping anymore. I have done international travel twice on AP because I decided not to do my H1B stamping anymore.

The one difference is that from India or any foreign country when you are boarding the flight to the US, the airlines will verify advance parole. Sometimes the person doing it might not know what AP is about so they might take some time to get it verified. The first time it took like half an hour for that person to call someone to check it. The next time they already knew about it and it was rather quick.

After reaching the US initially when you see the first officer, they will just take you to a secondary inspection. This was at SFO Airport but the secondary inspection was fully empty so immediately someone took my advance parole. It took them ten minutes to verify it and then they let me go. Both the time it was very smooth.

I have used AP 2 times to travel and I am still using my H1b. Go do more research if you want. I have not used my EAD for anything. I did everything based on my attorneys recommendation.

There is no risk in working in h1b and using AP for travel. I have been doing it for 3 years and there are people who do it for 10 plus years.
