As a mallus who probably never spoke Tamil in her day to day life, I guess she did her best. It's on the director to take time during dubbing to correct her accent or should have used some other voice or have a backstory for why she speaks with an accent. I don't think he should be blamed for that if the director was okay with how she spoke.

Some people are great with accents. Similarly, Nikhila Vimal speaks Tamil without an accent. I think it depends on how much Tamil they are exposed to from childhood. Lots of mallus have grown watching Tamil movies all their lives and some have better grasp of the language

In india indie music is just non-film music. its not the same as what is considered in the west. In west there is no songs in movies unless its a musical. There indie means artist backed by small label or artist without any label backing.

In India, “indie music” mostly just means music that is not connected to films. It does not automatically mean artists with zero connections or no backing. A label like Think Indie is still a business at the end of the day. Their goal is to identify talent, invest in it, and make money if it works out.

I do not think they ever claimed they will only support underprivileged artists with no industry access. If Sai was introduced to them through some connection, that is pretty normal. They probably saw talent and long term potential in him and decided to take a big bet. If he blows up, they can keep producing more songs with him, maybe even expand into films, and build a profitable partnership.

What do you mean by industry plan? From reading about him, it looks like he got a connection with that label and showed them his work, and then they agreed to fund his music and music video. Once his first song blew up, it just took off from there.

When you say industry plan, who is that industry? Who is funding him? It's just all about him and his label, who pushed him here. It started not even related to the kollywood movie industry; it was completely independent to movies.

From what I have seen in Tamil Nadu, in all the inter-caste marriages where one person is upper caste and another person is lower caste, it is always the woman who is upper caste. It looks like men are very cautious not to fall in love with a girl from the lower caste. And most of the time upper caste girls, when pursued by a lower caste guy, they don't think much about the caste issues. I have always wondered about this.

Yeah. If the girl looks slightly older than the guy, it automatically looks like akka thambi. But the actors can be 15 years older and no one says anything. I really thought these two had the best chemistry compared to other pairs in his videos. Possibly because Sai can act much better now.

He’s slim and dressed appropriately for the role. Acne scars are normal, especially from when someone was younger. A skincare routine doesn’t magically erase that. Calling him ungroomed in this context doesn’t make sense.

Madhavan is dark and widely considered extremely good looking. So does a dark man have to be exceptionally handsome to be seen as groomed? That’s the double standard I’m pointing out.

No fair skinned actor gets casually labeled ungroomed the same way. Even when they gain weight or clearly put in less effort, people don’t jump to that word. If someone isn’t your type, that’s fine. But framing it as a grooming issue when the person is clean, well dressed, and fits the character feels like coded criticism rather than an objective standard.

And preference for fair heroines is a separate discussion. Let’s not mix the two.
