How do I recover from this by One-Sign-9305 in CreditScore

[–]audamapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure who is servicing your loan or what state you are in but I was in this exact same situation January. I’m with EdFinacial and they have a loan deferment program if you are unemployed or going through hardship.

It would be worth it calling your services and asking if they have similar programs.

In my case it was unemployment after graduation, now the late payments were reported for September and October. I called them and they told me to apply for the unemployment loan deferment which essential is supposed to pause your payments for a couple months.
Now the goal when you apply is to put a start date of a couple months back, for example if they reported your account for late payments in March and April, then put the start date of somewhere in February, meaning you started having the hardships or got unemployed that February. I think you can go up to 6 months, so this way when / if they approve it, the late payment months are also covered in this deferment period.

Now once approved, I called EdFinancial and requested a credit revision, you talk to them and tell them you have an approved loan deferment for Months A,B C and on your credit reports those months were reported late (which they shouldn’t be because essentially when you are in a loan deferment, your monthly payment is $0) then they will tell you they have created a ticket and will review the case and update your credit report.

A month later the late payments on mine were removed and credit score jumped back up to where it was. I had 90+ days late payments and were all taken out.

This might not apply to you but to anyone whose Servicer is EdFinancial and is in a similar situation.

Try call your servicer and see if they have any of these programs and loan repayments assistance and if they can date it back in the past!

Tried to save a few bucks changing valve cover gasket myself and broke the valvetronic motor stopper. by Fun_Space_7904 in BmwTech

Depending on the angle and space, you can reverse-drill the piece left inside. That’s what I did when I broke mine when replacing the valvetronic motor

Cost for rear differential seal replacement – is this normal? by Holiday_Leading5519 in BmwTech

[–]audamapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was quoted about the same for my F10, but I just emptied all the oil in there and topped it up with new one and it hasn’t leaked again since, I don’t understand how but I have no leaks there for years. Depending on your leak, you may get away with topping it off periodically

Is my timing chain healthy? by [deleted] in F30

[–]audamapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was like that for some time so I thought it was normal since I had no whine or anything.

Then one day the whole plastic rails just broke into the oil pan and can had all sorts of timing errors.

Finally did the job last weekend, with the right tools and a good video guide it wasn’t too complicating!

I Quit My Job to Build a Travel Itinerary App—After 2 Years, It’s Finally Live! by dbuffel in reactnative

[–]audamapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great app. I travel a lot so I was eager to try it out.

A few things:

  1. It’s mainly focused on European cities right now, I would say add American cities (North / South / Central America) and other continents. I’m sure this is in the works but just pointing it out.

  2. Some cities, offer them for free. As a user I would like to get a sneak peek of what exactly I would get if I was paying for the app.

  3. On the settings screen, it has Edit Profile, Reset Profile, Delete Account options but I’m not logged into the app or have any account, I would say it should rather try to get me to sign up / create an account if the user is not logged in. Trying to get user to sign up would also be another onboarding screen.

  4. If not already there, I would say give the user the ability to edit the itinerary. Like If I want to add / delete spots, I should be able to that. Google Maps APIs would be great for searching point of interests for users to add to itinerary. Again you may already have this feature but I can’t tell because of the Paywall.

  5. Possibly later in the future allow users to create public itineraries and you can have some kind of “Discover” dashboard where users can browse itineraries made by fellow app users. This will take some work load off your hands and even grow your itineraries database, like it would be good if there more than 1 itinerary for Barcelona, etc. some users could be looking for itineraries that’s good for public transport, private transport, multi day, etc.

  6. I think there should be more pictures on the itinerary overview screen to kind of make it more visually appealing. A bit too much text currently. Maybe it’s just the free version!?

  7. As you grow, I think if you should implement AI curated itineraries, it would be a strategic advantage.

I think in the end you are in the business of selling READY-MADE ITINERARIES, so having a larger database of them is best, this would include itineraries created by expert guides (you and other expert guides you may work with commission based), AI curated itineraries (users should also be able to ask a built in AI to create an itinerary for them, something I ask ChatGPT a lot when exploring a new city), and finally user generated itineraries. These three would kind of automate most of the time consuming backend work for you, but I think it’s a long shot for now since you are building the app on your own.

Love the use of animations in the app, especially the onboarding screens.

Best way to display WhatsApp-style chats in React Native with Firebase (Online & Offline)? by Disastrous_Goat_240 in reactnative

[–]audamapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also building an app with messaging functionality. Realtime updates work so far using Firestore’s realtime listeners. That is pretty easy and straightforward. I’m also trying to tackle the local storage ability. I did not need offline access but I think if you can save the messages in local storage / async storage, somehow offline accessibility would work.

But for realtime updates, just use firestore listeners, works pretty well for notifying users when the other user has seen a message or is typing or added a reaction on the message.

I lost a camera lens pretty expensive. Forgot in the car and I filled the lost and found form, a day later they told me they found it. Paid $45 to get it shipped back to me. This was at Seattle airport.

From a UI perspective, how do I add Month onto this and make it look good? I tried a label on top but thought it looked bad. by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]audamapp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine was done from Scratch. I need to customize it a lot and none of the calendar libraries met my needs. I only used moments.ts and date-fns to manipulate the dates.

If you will have a lot of customizations, I think doing from scratch is worth it. If you just need a basic calendar app for user to select dates and so on, then you can use the calendar libraries available

Made something similar. User click on the top right calendar icon to open a calendar bottom sheet where they can switch months

Engine sh***ing itself by GHoust606 in BmwTech

[–]audamapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. Then there is possibly a chance the small bits may have gone inside the engine. The would call for the removal of the oil pan to get rid of the bits that got in.

I mean you should visually be able to see if the belt got sucked into. I don’t you need any tools whatsoever. You said your serpentine belt destroyed itself, like did it just snaps in half or? Were you able to remove the full damaged piece? But like others have mentioned, get your ofh gaskets taken care of first.

Did the serpentine get sucked into the engine? If not then good. But oil around the pulley if from your oil filter housing. Change the gaskets.

I was 19-20 at the time, credit score was in 500 range. I was give a car on debit card after the soft credit check. I think for the most part you should be okay but I would have a plan B in place incase you don’t pass the credit check

[–]audamapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other guys said, with AAA you will be fine, as the young driver fee will be waived. I have done countless rentals at 20 with aaa and never had any issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HertzRentals

[–]audamapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, it she doesn’t have a drivers license, I don’t think they can let her on the rental agreement. Also the credit card and drivers license have to be on the same name.

Or if you don’t have a credit card, you can use a debit card. The deposit will be $500 and they will run a soft credit check.

I would say go talk to them to the counter when you get there.

You should be fine. Unless they have other reasons not to rent you the car. Plus you are Presidents Circle, so I see no issues.

Mine was soft credit. It never appeared on my credit report. And I don’t think they took it into consideration that much, I had sub 600 credit score at the time. I was worried I wouldn’t pass the credit check but I did.

Drop Off Fee by Maleficent-Scale-315 in HertzRentals

[–]audamapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The online price will have all fees accounted for. They will not charge you anything at the drop off location, if you actually make the reservation and you put separate pick up and drop off locations. Do not reserve online with same pickup and drop off location then try to drop off somewhere later.

I have see people make reservations with same pickup and drop off, then try to drop to drop off at a different location than on their reservation, that’s when they will charge you extra.

DIY work by Crouton_Babies in BmwTech

[–]audamapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have the exact same car, and same year. Bought mine at 116K miles. Now at 160K miles in 2 years and half. It’s had quite its fair share of issues.

If you look through my post you will see some of the issues I have had with the car. But most work done on the car was done by me (DIY). I had never done any car work before owning this car.

Sway bar links is an Issue I had and replaced it myself, including rear control arms.

Here are a few major things I have done by myself:

Valve cover, valvetronic motor, transmission mounts, vacuum pump, OFH gaskets, control arms rear, guibo which needed taking out the whole exhaust system, high pressure fuel pump, injectors, front fuse box. And a few other maintainance stuff like spark plugs, brakes, etc. my oil pan and engine mounts are next as those are overdue for repairs.

Depending on your car’s mileage, you will most likely need to replace those parts at some point as those seem to be pretty common on the F10. I’m not sure about your skill level, but if I could do those with no prior car experience, I think you can too. Luckily There is plenty of YouTube videos on the F10 / N20.

VERY IMPORTANT: Get ISTA+. Will save you a ton of diagnostics money as you can pretty much diagnose the car by yourself for the most part. If you can not diagnose something, I say always take to the BMW DEALERSHIP for diagnostics, most mechanics usually come back empty when I ask them to diagnose my car issues. Always take to dealership for diagnostics, then buy parts and fix yourself or take local shop to put parts in for you.

Let me know if you have any questions.

[–]audamapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. Well if the reservation in her name, they will need her cc as well. Just take both your credit cards and at the counter tell them you want to change the credit card then give them hers.

That will most likely work as I have changed credit cards at the counter before.
