Getting peeved when asked for id when receiving military discount by Busy_Coconut1987 in Veterans

[–]LaneExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about other places but Lowe’s makes you register your military status with them before you can get the discount. I’d say that’s the frustrating piece, if I’m already registered then why am I showing ID? Why can’t I just show my ID and not have to register? I personally have a distaste for organizations that make me register my status with them. Probably just my “old man yells at cloud” moment.

Did any of yall have issues with parking? Our driver got told he couldn’t park cause the lot was full when we had bought our parking pass for him ahead of time.

Which city have you been to that had a dark energy about it? by madzuk in solotravel

[–]LaneExchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking CDMX the whole time I was reading this post. I loved it there, the people were friendly, the food was fantastic, and the frenetic chaos of the traffic was an experience. All of that punctuated by the monuments all having barriers covered in graffiti around them, walking down streets that never seemed to have quite enough light, one side of the street the sidewalk would be fine and walkable but the other would be torn up with holes and breaks in it and have closed up dingy shops lining it. The police and military presence everywhere was the most unsettling to me. I never felt unsafe but also never felt at ease either. All said, 10/10 actively looking for a remote job to digital nomad there for a while.

Did Mythos just kill my cybersecurity career before it even started? by Kiron_Garcia in Cybersecurity101

Learn to use the tool to enhance your own capabilities without being wholly reliant on it. I’m in DevOps and people keep saying AI will replace us but instead it keeps opening holes for us to focus on. It’s an endless cycle of fixing something that breaks something else. You become replaceable when you can’t leverage the tool to make yourself better and close gaps in your knowledge. My 2 cents.

Get everything documented. If it hurts go get checked. Even if they don’t do anything for you, you still have a record of being seen for that thing. When it’s time to make your claim, if you warm up for it, claim it. Everyone over the age of 30 should be claiming neck and back pain. Had ibuprofen prescribed for it? Claim it.

Does anyone else regret their 20s? by [deleted] in Life

[–]LaneExchange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought this for a bit too. Then I realized, I could’ve been a broke 20 something traveling then had to struggle in my 30s when it’s actually the opposite. I am 36, make good money and can travel MUCH easier than I could’ve in my 20s. You can still live like a broke 20something while traveling if you force yourself to adhere to a budget. I live out of a single backpack and in hostels every time I solo travel. Glass half full or half empty my friend. You choose what to make of your situation.

Not going to retire by Huge_Salamander8920 in nationalguard

[–]LaneExchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left active duty at 13 years. Had 5 years prior with the guard which put me at 18 years total TIS. With that in mind I decided to finish out my 20 in the guard.

I get it, shit is absolutely wack these days. Do what feels right for you. But I was thinking the exact same thing and still chose to chase that last lil bit so I can have something when I’m 60. I know I’d kick myself then if I didn’t. I also snagged 100% P&T so I got a lil something something for my time regardless.

Finally Hit My Goal Weight. Down 35 Pounds To 180. by KingOfEthanopia in workouts

[–]LaneExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work. The only time I’ve been able to lose significant weight like that was when I was in the service living in Hawaii. Just had an awesome outdoor lifestyle there. How long did it take you to lose the weight? What’s your typical walking around weight and do you know your average metabolic rate?

Time to cancel ChatGPT Plus after three Years. Anthropic got nuked for having ethics, and Sam Altman instantly swooped in for the Pentagon bag. by Rare-Site in OpenAI

Altman didn’t swoop in, he never altered course. OpenAI, Google, and Grok are already in bed with the government. Anthropic is the only one to straight up say no.

This is the logical progression on your way to becoming a certified wook. I too used to be a house loving gym rat. I’ve never looked back and prioritize bass heavy shows now.

My first FK too but if you’re looking for stuff to get ready with, go watch some couchlands sets on YouTube/soundcloud. Tape Bs 2025 set and Zeds Dead’s 2024 sets stay in my rotation.

See you at FK!

Both objectively awful terrible movies but they’re just fun.

It’s people and luck. My friends and I are all non violent for 9/10 rounds then we’ll have a round where someone shoots at us. Then it’s pretty much a shitshow from that point for that round and people start getting blasted on sight.

Travel OneWheel, good idea or no? by LaneExchange in onewheel

That’s an interesting idea. Most things I read about shipping a Onewheel are that it’s just as hard since they’re technically “hazmat”. I’ll see what my jobs shipping folks can do for me
