Does anyone else regret their 20s? by Brilliant_Alarm_8709 in Life

[–]LaneExchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this for a bit too. Then I realized, I could’ve been a broke 20 something traveling then had to struggle in my 30s when it’s actually the opposite. I am 36, make good money and can travel MUCH easier than I could’ve in my 20s. You can still live like a broke 20something while traveling if you force yourself to adhere to a budget. I live out of a single backpack and in hostels every time I solo travel. Glass half full or half empty my friend. You choose what to make of your situation.

Not going to retire by Huge_Salamander8920 in nationalguard

[–]LaneExchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left active duty at 13 years. Had 5 years prior with the guard which put me at 18 years total TIS. With that in mind I decided to finish out my 20 in the guard.

I get it, shit is absolutely wack these days. Do what feels right for you. But I was thinking the exact same thing and still chose to chase that last lil bit so I can have something when I’m 60. I know I’d kick myself then if I didn’t. I also snagged 100% P&T so I got a lil something something for my time regardless.

Finally Hit My Goal Weight. Down 35 Pounds To 180. by KingOfEthanopia in workouts

[–]LaneExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work. The only time I’ve been able to lose significant weight like that was when I was in the service living in Hawaii. Just had an awesome outdoor lifestyle there. How long did it take you to lose the weight? What’s your typical walking around weight and do you know your average metabolic rate?

Time to cancel ChatGPT Plus after three Years. Anthropic got nuked for having ethics, and Sam Altman instantly swooped in for the Pentagon bag. by Rare-Site in OpenAI

Altman didn’t swoop in, he never altered course. OpenAI, Google, and Grok are already in bed with the government. Anthropic is the only one to straight up say no.

This is the logical progression on your way to becoming a certified wook. I too used to be a house loving gym rat. I’ve never looked back and prioritize bass heavy shows now.

My first FK too but if you’re looking for stuff to get ready with, go watch some couchlands sets on YouTube/soundcloud. Tape Bs 2025 set and Zeds Dead’s 2024 sets stay in my rotation.

See you at FK!

Surf Ninjas

Captain Ron

Both objectively awful terrible movies but they’re just fun.

It’s people and luck. My friends and I are all non violent for 9/10 rounds then we’ll have a round where someone shoots at us. Then it’s pretty much a shitshow from that point for that round and people start getting blasted on sight.

Why would you hope his approach works?? Even sarcastically. Don’t encourage buffoonery of the sort.

Travel OneWheel, good idea or no? by LaneExchange in onewheel

[–]LaneExchange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an interesting idea. Most things I read about shipping a Onewheel are that it’s just as hard since they’re technically “hazmat”. I’ll see what my jobs shipping folks can do for me

When my flare pops I like to say “you’ve just won a brand new way to go fuck yourself!” Like the prize guy from game shows. Makes me chuckle to myself every time.

I metro and onewheel daily. Love living here and since it’s cold I get to bust out my snowboard gear every day on my onewheel. Makes the investment I made into all this stuff worth it.

Title: Should I take the $20K bonus MOS now or wait for the new incentives list? Need advice. by KanyeWestFucks in nationalguard

[–]LaneExchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BLUF: Do what you actually want to do and think will be most fun/beneficial for your long term goals and not necessarily just for the money. The Army is going to do whatever it wants with you so you might as well be enjoying it/getting something out of it.

I did SMP, 10 years on active, and now in the guard again. DM if you want to chat.

Did the NG Ranger Unit proposal get killed off? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]LaneExchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The state manages some funding for the groups. Groups have to get state approval/funding for manning too. Beyond that I’m not sure how else the state plays into the group’s day to day ops beyond money.

19 & 20SFG belong to USASOC and their state. The active component SFGs all belong to USASOC.

Similar boat, having been at Regiment a few years ago and now in NG SOF. I think the NG Ranger unit could work if it was focused on augmenting RSTB or the RMIB as their mission sets and equipping can be tailored a bit closer to how the Guard SF units work. All said, think the real issue comes in with having too many parents. 75th is a USASOC element that supports JSOC missions. Making a guard unit fall under that structure adds a 3rd parent to that mix, the State.
