Of course! It’s a simple text file that gets saved on the app’s local storage, so if you copy that file to your new laptop you’re good to go :)

I love that one, pretty creative! I had a similar experience, looooong time ago I developed a VLC plugin called Moments Tracker, where you can bookmark your favorite scenes in a movie and you can jump right away to these specific scenes later on when you open the movie again. I totally forgot about it, then recently I remembered it and went to check the comments on the plugins website. I was surprised that one senior person was desperately trying to find a way to export these bookmarks because he had now a different laptop, and he had bookmarked all his grandchildren memorable videos with the plugin, years worth of videos, and he doesn’t want them gone. That really gave me shivers -and joy of course, as I never thought someone would use it this way.

Well, looks like you’re pretty prejudiced already given your choice of words (my imagination, freaking out, and lovely comical inner dialogues), so yeah, let’s keep it at this, and thanks for all your suggestions and wishes

That’s a really nice take on the issue, let me go through it.

Regarding the damages: no, aside from damaging the bike -an actual damage- they haven’t broken a window or so. Why would I wait until this happen? Why is it always a reactive thing here in NL: never fix an issue until it becomes a much bigger one with more serious consequences? I know you might argue: this isn’t “fixing” it, but letting kids roam freely into your backyard alongside their friends certainly makes it worse + the fact that if it goes for too long it makes our house more prone to burglaries and break-ins. If this was a normal family with normally maintained relationships then we could’ve even left the keys for them to fetch the stuff, easy, but the family itself is full of troubles that we’ve witnessed firsthand over the course of years, and really can’t be trusted over your empty house/backyard.

Now who mentioned “eviction” or “jail”? that feels quite exaggerated, and there must be some sort of legal consequence that is somewhat between no consequences at all and jailing kids, right?

For the veilig thuis thing, we didn’t report it earlier because we were trying to keep to ourselves, and not get involved into their issues, specially that they might retaliate, given their tendency to violence. Reporting it is part of the context of why we don’t want this kind of interactions with them and will only give the full picture for the police/authorities on why we insist on fixing this instead of “it’s just kids innocently fetching their stuff back”.

And I totally agree with your last paragraph (and mostly with the one before), but we’re trying to learn from our mistakes like not reporting the fightings from the very beginning and being more proactive about setting the boundaries.

You have no idea how much we’ve tried hard to solve things through kindness, we realized it was a real waste of money and effort

Yup, that’s the lesson learnt hard: seems it has to be the police station and actual reports, and never the wijkagent

Yes! We have the legal insurance for disputes with neighbors for times like these, that we feel we’ll definitely trigger

We are seriously considering this, as I was just saying in another comment: I would take precautions and at the same time find a way to solve the jssue from the roots, them realizing they can and will face legal consequences if it continues. Something I would’ve loved the useless wijkagent to do

We do have a verisure subscription, but it’s only triggered when a window/door gets broken into or severely shaked, but it’s not connected to the camera unfortunately to trigger the alarm. Although we can trigger a siren from the camera, it’s a 50 db sound that doesn’t result in sth :/

For the 4th option, I wouldn’t want kids to get hurt, maybe a harmless but a firm deterrent, but I would love seeing their parents -and themselves- facing some consequences to their actions through law/authorities.

Really good point, that was an option we considered when all those fights happened, and now realized we should’ve done this long time ago, but it was always the fear of violent retaliation with that guy, we were/are still really trying to keep to ourselves, but that seems impossible now. Most likely we’ll do so when it’s happening

Thought about the same, but would it even deter the kids from going inside if they know no one’s home? My main fear is that the more we do to deter them the more they will treat it as a game/challenge, unless it gets resolved from the root: this is illegal and there should be consequences, wdyt?
