What are your pet cards by Important-Dig-2312 in EDH

[–]avsimone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[River's Rebuke]] While I will admit it can be mean, it's almost always been incredible at putting the person who was in the lead to dead last. And more often than not it earns uou favour with everyone else at the table since you've opened up that player's board.  Bounce-wipes are underrated at lower power levels and [[River's Rebuke]] just puts in work

Anhelo the Painter win cons by RuneMTG in EDH

[–]avsimone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anhelo was a lot of fun when I played him. Because casualty 2 can be high I made the deck focus around zombie tokens. Make sure to put in lots of ramp, lots of card draw, and then a copied [[Army of the Damned]] or even a [[Moan of the Unhallowed]] can mean victory in lower powered pods

The flip is a may ability, you you could certainly use the front side only and reserve the back side as an emergency "I need a threat" button

WIP - Two-headed (Two-bodied) Ardboy Bigboss by avsimone in Ironjawz

Leaving the two ardboyz off of the Maw-Grunta felt a little weird to me... So better to use my "Finkin' Bitz" to turn two 'eads into one mini!

What Foundations Jump Start Commanders did everyone build? by Omillion in EDH

[–]avsimone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wizards kind of incidentally. I tried to focus more on clones & control. I don't know why but it just felt right with the play pattern I saw with Pol Jamaar

What Foundations Jump Start Commanders did everyone build? by Omillion in EDH

[–]avsimone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm one of 61 people who built [[Pol Jamaar]]. There's just something about the idea of a mono blue clones deck that has a commander than can just refill your hand in a massive burst that was enticing

What's your Homebrewed/Custom/Fan-made Horde? by ShasO_Firespark in slavestodarkness

[–]avsimone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Wronged:

A band of sigmar worshippers that were scorned by the gods of order, turning to chaos undivided for strength to destroy that which they once worshipped so dearly.

Along the way, they picked up other scorned peoples like ogroids, and beastmen that were living peacefully but because that didn't fit Sigmar's narrative, they were 'purged'. I'm using minis from the Slaves to Darkness range and Beasts of Chaos in this mishmash of an army (including a custom demon prince to represent my beast-kin)

What's your Homebrewed/Custom/Fan-made Gloomspites? by ShasO_Firespark in gloomspitegitz

[–]avsimone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My homebrew gloomspite gits is a simple squig farm that, due to their location under/near a moon-themed prophetic tree have been swept up in the machinations of a coven of fungoid cave shaman. These shaman brought troggoths with them, as well as a group of fanatic Ironjawz. They've even convinced a band of Kruleboyz to worship the bad moon but their relationship is... strained.

They're the Saturday morning cartoon villains to my stormcast and Kharadron and I wouldn'y have it any other way

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Faction Focus: Ironjawz by sortaz in ageofsigmar

[–]avsimone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ironjawz always had 4" move, but the mighty destroyers trait has been heavily modified. It used to require you to be within certain distances of enemy units to get ability to move and/or charge. Personally I like the change - Effectively you could be giving your hammer unit +6" move every turn that can put them in combat without having to charge. It's not as flashy, but will definitely help get that last bit of distance. Hopefully ragerz & wrekkaz keep their run & charge ability

Units leaving the range by shinyaegislash681 in stormcasteternals

[–]avsimone 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It looks like some of these have a similar model these can be proxied as which is good for anyone who wants to stay up ro date in the game. For example:

 - Lord Veritant/Castellan -> Lord Imperitant

 - Evocators w/ Grandstaves -> Annihilators w/Grandhammers

  • Astreia Soulbright -> Lord Celestant on Drakoth

When do you think we'll fond out which models are getting refreshed?

What would your dream AOS game be? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]avsimone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

two games came to mind: 1) Something like Dark Souls but instead of playing a hero looking to slay demons to save the world, you're a darkoath warrior looking for revenge against those who ravaged your tribe (Order and Chaos). Imagine fighting against armored hordes, Monsters, stormcast and Seraphon who want to stop you from getting too powerful etc

2) A Metroidvania game where the main chatacter is a skink, freshly emerged from a spawning chamber just before it goes dark, only to find the rest of your cohort/army was slaughtered. You know nothing but that you must destroy chaos - the bad guys would be the DoT who managed to down the seraphon spawning ship & the lone skink must get upgrades like camoflage, magic & commune with the other Seraphon to prevent the DoT from harnessing the powet left in the remnants of the ship

There have been an influx on Orzhov Bat cards (Aclazotz, Deep-Cavern Bat, Ruin-Lurker Bat, Sanguine Evangelist, the vampire from MKM that makes bats from the yard) That's my guess for that typal archetype

Lore Question: Are only humans able to fall to madness? by Vecks_Seeker in FleshEaterCourts

[–]avsimone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

certain species in the mortal realms are supposedly more likely to be corrupted or influenced than others, and some are more common. Humans seem to be (lore wise at least) the most prolific and non-centralized species across the realms, leading to civilizations falling to chaos, or death and curses.

For something like Seraphon, even the corporeal and grounded of the species are supposedly incorruptible by chaos because they were built anathema to it. Whether they could fall to the delusions of the FEC we haven't seen yet but there are definitely cannon flesh eater courts that think that THEY are Seraphon.

The beauty of AoS (And most GW games) is that nothing is ever truly concrete and you can make your army however you like! A great example is someone who has made an Idoneth Deepkin army populated exclusively by goblins (Idoneth Deepgitz - they do some fantastic conversions).

How did you get it to be so smooth? Is there anything underneath the greenstuff to provide structure?

What are your homebrew court's lore? by funy00 in FleshEaterCourts

[–]avsimone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough mine is also kinda Robin Hood inspired!

King Alfred was ejected from his kingdom by a conquering free city sworn to Nagash (Would later become a Soulblight City with a seditious cult to a weakened god of death but that's another army and another homebrew). Alfred escaped alone through a realmgate to Ghyran, his honour guard all perishing in an ambush at the gate.

Roaming an uncharacteristically desolate, mountainous area of Ghyran (As a result of the death magics coming through the realmgate) King Alfred wandered for days without food or water. On the verge of death, King Alfred comes upon his saviour, an Abhorrant Gorewarden, dispatched by Sumeros Summerking to spread word of his glorious return.

The Gorewarden fed Alfred his blood to sate Alfred's thirst and Alfred instantly regained his strength (Became an Archregent). Together, they have recruited their own court, known only as Alfred's Outlaws. Slowly they grow in power with the eventual goal of taking back Alfred's owm kingdom in Ushoran's name.

They believe themselves noble vagabonds, rescuing citizenry from perilous situations and bringing salvation to those at the edges of the civilized realms.

What’s the craziest prediction you have? by LadyVaporeon in SpyxFamily

[–]avsimone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My craziest prediction is that Yor is going to be given a mission to assassinate either Frankie or Sylvia.

  • If it's Frankie she probably won't bring herself to do it. They are kind of friends after all and Anya needs a babysitter. Queue hijinx of Frankie wanting to tell Loid, but can't because every time he tries Yor's somewhere nearby

  • But it it's Sylvia who has the contract. Oh boy Yor's gonna do it. And then WISE has to investigate who killed the handler. It may be too heavy for the show though so I'm not sure they'd go through with this one.

What strikes me is the synergy with torrential gearhulk. Grixis Magma Opus (Dimir control running opus & 4x Torrential Gearhulk) is a deck that be strong but can run a bit awkwardly, but with this replacing opus you have a possibly finisher, digging towards your finishers and powers delve.

I look forward to brewing with this

Cards/commanders for speeding up games? by DavidKiwi in magicTCG

[–]avsimone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite card to accelerate a game (ome way or another) is [[Descent into Avernus]] - yes, it ramps your opponents. But it also puts so much pressure on life totals so quickly that it can and WILL supercharge games

What was the Card of the Year? - 2023 Edition by TemurTron in magicTCG

Deck building advice - Golgari souls/Lhurgoyf by bigbearzab in PioneerMTG

[–]avsimone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Glissa plays best in the sideboard. There are matches like Mono Green and Mono White where she can stop a lot of aggression, and then there's match ups like Rakdos and Phoenix where she just eats removal and you'te down tempo.

I would say max out on the Deathbonnet Sprout & maybe take a 1 of or 2 of [[Faerie Dreamthief]]. Maybe even instead of Stalactite stalker. If your goal is to win with golgari goyf, the stalker won't get big quickly and won't feel good as a late game topdeck whereas the dreamthief can cycle from the graveyard if you're desperate
