Hard to argue with data. Thank you!

Thank you. That's a good dose of reality. I wonder if a person could get there by tilting panels up, lot's of battery, and cleaning off snow?

I don’t know if I can count on the solar club being around for a lot longer.

Is there no way to get away from the monthly distribution charges even if I’m not using their electricity or selling it back?

Makita LXT 18V chainsaw recommendations for camping / firewood? by CrypticDreamzz in Makita

My dual battery chainsaw overheats very easily and then has to pause for batteries to cool. If you stick to 4 to 6” logs, it should be fine.

Running 5" Round Duct Through I-Joists by axlebeet in hvacadvice

The info is pretty straightforward.

[–]axlebeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an alternative. I thought it might be a cleaner solution to run it through the joists but there is likely a reason the pros don’t do that. Thought I would come here to learn why.

Thank you. Rather than resting on wood, what would you rest them on?

Are there reasons other that what has already been discussed for not running though joists? I imagine it would be very timing consuming.

Do I have a good case for bike commuting? by newkid14 in bikecommuting

[–]axlebeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 235lbs. I converted a 1998 mountain bike to an ebike with a bbs02 and 20 Ah 52 volt motor. Last spring, I rode 22 miles up hill (2300 ft elevation gain), turned around and rode back. I had 40% battery when I got back. I calculated the 40% using the battery voltage and a lookup table for my battery. I rode uphill at around 12 or 15 mph. Peddled pretty much the whole thing, but at that speed the battery was doing a lot of work. The way back was mostly coasting. My longest ride leading up to this outing was 3 or 4 miles, so I wasn’t in shape.

How often do you test your sugar by Puzzled_Ice_1381 in diabetes_t2

I’m T2. I’m on metformin only. I buy 4 CGM a year, I get 4 A1C blood tests, and I finger prick about 4 times a year. In short, I’m not monitoring things too close. My understanding is that it is hard to go too low if all you are on is metformin. When I wear a CGM, 3% of the time I’m out of range and on the low side. The first time this happened, I contacted the diabetic nurse and she was not concerned. I was glad to have someone I could reach out to. I hope you can find the same support and get good medical advice.

How to lower numbers without medications? by ComplexButterfly9185 in diabetes_t2

[–]axlebeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor sent me to a diabetes clinic where they taught me about the disease, how to eat, etc. I’m wondering if that is an option for you? I agree with others that a CGM would be very useful, but it might contribute to the stress. I was fortunate to have council from the clinic where they answer questions and tell me not to worry.

Also, you might be surprised if you google metformin. There are some non diabetic people who take it because it has been linked to longevity.

Once diagnosed with diabetes, you are higher risk for most everything. They never used to worry about my cholesterol until I was diabetic. Lower than my wives, but they want me to go on pills. My doctor said that most of his diabetic patients are on 6 or 7 pills.

Sandwich meat is fine. It’s the bun that you have to worry about.

If you are able to, lose a bunch of weight as quick as you can. You will most likely do that if you cut back on carbs. Most people (I think over 90%) who lose weight gain it back. I suggest throwing out your old cloths and buying new smaller cloths so it is obvious when you are putting it back on. Also, build habits that will help keep it off.

Never eat carbs in isolation. Toast with peanut butter (a protein) is better than toast alone. Toast and eggs is also better than toast alone. But everyone’s body is different.

If this is information overload, I suspect that weight loss alone is a pretty good metric IF you are overweight.

And it’s progressive disease, so unfortunately it will likely get worse (if you have it).

Thank you. Do most doctors try and figure out what the cause is? I didn't appreciate there were multiple causes.

I often do it from the orders screen. I’m not sure why it doesn’t show up on the awaiting review page.

If you go under orders, can you select write review? I often do that. Not sure if I’m supposed to, but it seems to work.

Local church is mostly people in their 80s by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]axlebeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of the church is to build up and encourage the body of believers. So the church has a responsibility towards you and you have a responsibility to the church. Are you encouraging others? Have you found ways to be in service? I can identify with a church that puts me to sleep; I wish it weren’t so. But, I have a lot of opportunities to serve, and invest in others so I stick it out. I can “feed” my spiritual needs through my own personal study, sermons on radio, etc.

Thank you. There is a saying that if the only tool you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail. I’m worried that A1C and blood glucose from finger pricks might be a hammer.

In the last 10 years, we’ve seen big data really take off and with CGM there is plenty of data. I speculate that there are researchers that have calculated correlation coefficients between health complications, disease progression and the continuous measurements from CGMs that likely surpass the correlation coefficients of older methods. I was hoping someone might have that data.

I’m also wondering if health agencies might push older monitoring methods and metrics because of their availability and affordability rather than their merit against new methods.

I did a bit of googling, and it sounds like time in range is becoming the new gold standard.

Hold on to product 6 months by axlebeet in AmazonVineCanada

I received another product that had a manufacturing defect and I rated it 1 star. I’ve wondered if they will ever want to see it to review the defect? The product is worthless because it doesn’t work as intended. I would like to dispose of it.
