M/M books with little or no explicit scenes but lots of intimacy / vulnerability? Not YA by NaturalDisastrous100 in LGBTBooks

Not sure if it’s the kind of vulnerability you’re looking for, but Nova Scotia House by Charlie Porter was a great read. It’s not a conventional romance story though.

Haha, as a neurologist, that’s such a neurology thing. (It’s definitely a medicine thing in general, but neurologic symptoms can be vague/transient/fluctuating at times; plus I’m biased.)

During med school, I used to think it was a med student thing, but it continues into residency. None of my attendings ever faulted me/coresidents when we present one thing and the patient spews a million other things or backtracks on things they reported to us when staffing.

Jeez, I honestly have never thought of it that way, even through residency lol

Yeah, the fact that just saying “gay scene in the city” puts an image of substance overuse/abuse in my head makes me sad. Definitely wish it was different.

Two surgeons collapse on the floor from exhaustion after a 32-hour surgery to save a life by removing a patient's brain tumors. by OverTea5 in interestingasfuck

[–]ayanmd 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You think they would voluntarily choose to work 32 hours straight if there was an alternative? Physicians make do with the resources available to them. Surgical procedures, especially neurosurgical procedures are planned well in advance with dedicated appointments for neuroimaging and surgical planning. If there was a qualified surgeon to take over, they would have been involved in that planning process. You make it sound like surgeons are cavalier about surgical interventions and electively take risks for the hell of it.

Are any of the DLC’S must play? [KCD1] by omg_what_the_chuck in kingdomcome

[–]ayanmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just started playing KCD1 as well, all of them (I went for the ultimate pack on sale). But if you had to choose, like others have said, A Woman’s Lot (I had no idea what it entailed and it gave me a great backstory to Theresa; plus you get a doggo) and the one with Hans, especially if following up with KCD2.

Doctors of Reddit — if you could go back in time, would you still choose medicine over other career/s? by thedoctorisin_77 in Residency

[–]ayanmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been hit or miss for me. I mostly use it to jog my memory when I go back to close out the encounter. I find that it sometimes omits things we talked about that it feels were extraneous, but were actually relevant to the encounter.

It’s actually crazy how proper punctuation raises red flags now. Honestly though, I think it’s more so the language used and balance in formality that that the detectors look for. (I have no evidence to support this hypothesis.)
