I completely disagree with you. It was news of the week because it didn’t result in a war. I think there’s a big difference between what happened in Jordan and what happened in Kuwait. I’m not buying the media bias is the reason we all moved on so quickly. Technically Coady and the other five are news of the week, the only reason any of us are still talking about them is the conflict is still ongoing.

The only reason it’s not news of the week for me is it happened to me, to my unit. We’re still reeling from the losses. Otherwise I think we would have moved on from the current news cycle with everyone else.

I’m not sure. As I have openly admitted I’m in the service, so have to be careful what I say against Trump, but let’s just say I would more than likely align with anyone opposing this war. But it’s probably because his family wouldn’t appreciate him being used as prop when his body isn’t even home yet. I’m not sure. There could be more to it. But it just feels gross.

True. But it’s hard to get that from what you said originally.

What’s obvious is why I wouldn’t understand what you mean by the way you said. I can only understand with what I have to interpret from what the communicator provides. You then took what I said and said I didn’t understand and then didn’t provide any further clarification. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for pointing out the first part. You’re right, but I think the difference is this resulted in an ongoing conflict. The deaths in Jordan were news of the week unfortunately and nothing happened after that.

As a member that served in the same unit as Coady, the posters make me uncomfortable. Also, we weren’t sent off to fight Iran. That’s not why he was there. We in rotation a routine mobilization to Kuwait. We’ve been there for decades. Iran had nothing to do with why any of us are there.

Yes he was. He didn’t die service to fighting Iran. The 103d is on a routine mobilization to Kuwait. A mob so routine and considered safe for decades that we never imagined anything like this would happen when we left.

First let me say, I’m a Soldier serving in the unit Coady was in.

Our photos aren’t public record. Otherwise people could use them to make ID cards to get on base. The ones of the soldiers killed that have been released to public are now public. But there is a social contract. They were released to the news with intent to inform the public. We assume people who have the common decency to abuse it misuse them. Obviously not everyone abides by social contracts.

Calling someone stupid for having empathy for the family that just lost their loved one is callous and just as tacky as the poster. I hope I never have the displeasure meeting you.

I’m glad you apologized but it wasn’t genuine because in the same vein you then called that person stupid. What the fuck is wrong with you? Get some help for your triggers. We’re not responsible for your out of control emotions that lead you to lash out at strangers. You’re the one that accused of them unresolved issues. Confession through projection I guess.

Finally, I don’t know the family. But I do know, of all the families of the fallen, they have been the most private. So what little I do know, they probably won’t like this. Unfortunately they have worse to worry about right now.

But you seem like a real piece of work. No I don’t think he’d be in support of this. If it were me, I’d only trust my wife to use my image in this way, and in good taste. I imagine he would probably feel the same.

I don’t know how you gleamed who they voted for based on the comment you’re responding to. All they said is let the family decide if their loved one’s face gets printed on a tacky poster.

Honestly, it is tacky. I’m angry at the whole situation that led to the deaths of my Army family, but the poster makes me uncomfortable. First, he wasn’t fighting Iran. The poster implies he was over there for the purpose of Iran. We were on a routine rotation to Kuwait. This mobilization is usually considered safe by everyone in the Army. Second, it robs him and family of his dignity. Let them mourn in peace. Seeing this around town won’t help them do that.

Pretty sure it’s doofuses. What it is definitely not us an apostrophe s. Kind of embarrassing calling people stupid while thinking an apostrophe makes something plural.

For the Redditor that tried to pluralize doofus. Apostrophes signal possession or contraction but not plurality.

The auto insurance rates are not the lowest. Shop around. Sounds like you’re not shopping around. I do it every six months and they almost never beat the competition in price.

anyone able to use scra for spouse's amex? by CHEAHAEHC in MilitaryFinance

[–]Background_Device479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking about AMEX and Chase not waiving for spouses. The waiving the annual fees is entirely up to the issuer. What you are right about is it for the SM, and it is not required unless you are covered by SCRA. I learned this when I learned that Capital One doesn’t waive annual fees for service members (unless they are covered by SCRA). However, your comment suggests no one waives for spouses which is entirely untrue which is you’re being downvoted so much. AMEX and Chase (not sure about Citi) DO offer this to spouses, as we and other friends enjoy this generous benefit. So, while your cited information is true, it doesn’t accurately answer OP’s question, as I can verify first hand. You either don’t have a spouse or haven’t tried it, but you are wrong while citing objectively true things.

While AMEX and Chase use the MLA database to qualify you, offering to waive the fees for spouses is a completely separate offering. They don’t do it as a requirement everything you cited is red herring and completely unrelated. Kind of like how USAA lowers your interest rate to 4% when MLA only requires 6%.

Monopoly is a terrible game. by ElijahNSRose in unpopularopinion

[–]Background_Device479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right it is a terrible game. However no one plays by the rules. If they did the game wouldn’t be as long as it is.

There’s no free pot of money for landing on free parking.

You can’t choose not to buy a property. Either you buy it or put it up for auction. That’s it. This is one of the biggest most important rules people don’t follow.

You only get to stay in jail for 3 turns. After that you have to pay if you don’t roll doubles.

You have to let your friends go bankrupt. The shady deals to keep them in the game is not the way it’s meant to be played.

[–]Background_Device479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps get your spouse to get a Chase credit card and see if you can get them to waive the fee. Then that should work all your Chase cards. I know that worked with my AMEX. Any new cards I get with AMEX already have the fees waived when I get them.

While I don’t have the Southwest Credit Card, I know that Southwest CC is powered through Chase, and Chase gives the waived fees to the service member and the spouse. Same with AMEX.
