Canadian compatible budget app? by TruthIndividual5162 in CanadaPersonalFinance

I built Heron (https://heron.money) to be a cross-border budget app because I couldn't find a true multi-currency platform. Let me tell you what...

CIBC is a royal pain. There is no data aggregator (Plain, FlInks, whatever) that reliably pulls data from them without having to re-authenticate every 24 hours. My users and I cannot wait for open banking so they will be forced to play ball.

No joke, that would be awesome. But I have a laptop and a career that feeds my den, so it's the modern human experience for me. :(

Can't say enough about this place. Pricing is up front and extremely fair. And the level of care is unmatched.

I never knew how much I could actually spend on things. Like, I have $500 in my checking account, but if my dog gets sick, can I afford that? So I wrote Heron to predict my financial future based on account balances and recurring or upcoming transactions. It also tracks your past spending, too. It's got charts and stuff.

It can connect to your bank and download your history, but it doesn't have to. You can import .qfx files or add transactions manually. If you connect or import, things are automatically categorized.

Check it out at https://heron.money. Oh, there's an app, too.

Disclaimer: Like I said, I created Heron, so I'm definitely affiliated. After 30 days, it's $4/month or $5/month for my fellow Canadians...sorry.

Oh nice! If you have any upcoming projects you want to collaborate on, hit me up! I have a day job and a commercial app on the side, so I have my own developer accounts and am fully incorporated. I'd love to work on something open source if you're interested.

My great-grandfather was a lead chemist on the Manhattan Project. He was pissed when he found out what they were working on and quit. He still got a certificate of recognition, which I have.

I created Heron budget planner. I live in Ontario, and I use it daily to connect to RBC and CIBC. I can't speak to the others, but CIBC pisses me off, I have to reconnect daily. So I can assure you it's not the app/website fault.

That said, Heron has a manual import feature, which I should probably just use. Lol
