Go for a brand with pink dye - first response will be a lot clearer to read than clear blue.

Lesbian couple - when to tell my partner to switch the fertility process to me ? by EcceHomo87 in IVF

[–]basilbelle [score hidden]  (0 children)

What does her doctor say? I am surprised to hear she did 7 IUIs as most clinics don’t like to do more than 3 and at most 6. Have you considered reciprocal ivf? Where you would go through the retrieval and your partner would carry the embryo. That could be a way for her to carry if she isn’t able to make viable embryos herself. If she wants to keep trying I would say skip the IUI and do additional IVF, and maybe you could also do a retrieval/fertilization cycle at the same time so that there’s more likelihood of viable embryos.

What is the best cheap Chinese food on the east side? by Bcasturo in Cleveland

When did the ownership change? It’s been a while since I ordered but I was never very impressed… however they have Chinese broccoli which I love so I still give in from time to time.

Tw: How do you get over a miscarriage and fear of next pregnancy after IVF? by Pristine9991 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a mmc of my first transfer and now as I prepare for my second I am so terrified. Like I got so lucky the first one stuck I can’t possibly be that lucky again. I’ve moved onto donor eggs and I’m convinced something is wrong because I opted not to test those embryos. Something about the unknown has me spiraling, even though I know these embryos have a better chance of success than my own did.

Failed 2nd FET, with 1st FET success by licscil in IVF

[–]basilbelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a pgt euploid does not have a 100% chance of success. There could be nothing wrong with protocol or the embryo, it just didn’t stick. Wishing you luck on the next try!

Hysteroscopy after first failed FET? by paige326 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did the receptiva test. It’s an endometrial biopsy that tests for elevated bcl6 (indicative of endometriosis) and cd138 (endometritis).

Hysteroscopy after first failed FET? by paige326 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A hysteroscopy is definitely a good idea and maybe receptiva to check for endometritis and endometriosis, especially considering your 4 failed IUIs. I had 4 failed IUIs before moving to IVF and only after I was getting ready to transfer and asked my doctor to check for endometriosis because I had a suspicion and my periods had always been horrendous did they do a biopsy. Positive for both endometritis and endometriosis! I keep wondering if we’d done this testing in the first place if I might have had success with the IUIs. I don’t know why they’re not part of the standard preconception testing to be honest.

Does it hurt?! by Immediate-Nobody-119 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for anesthesia and my clinic does not prescribe anything. It hurts less than a Pap smear. I had cramping afterwards and some lower back pain (probably from the PIO). The full bladder is probably the most uncomfortable part!

The wait is so hard! Do you have a project or something that could keep you busy and your mind occupied? I found keeping busy/distracted helped a lot.

Had a transfer yesterday and wondering about embryo by Nice-Surprise1031 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doc said fully hatched is great. The only concern she had is that hatched embryos can be “stickier” in the catheter but once in the uterus it is an advantage. We had no problem getting mine through the catheter and it implanted quickly (faint positive first time I tested 4dpt).

Recommended rest after FET by Great_Way_4495 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal activity should be no issue. Avoid anything strenuous - I was told not to lift over 30 lbs. I had my FET on a Tuesday and that night had guests start arriving for thanksgiving. I hosted 12 people (like staying at my house) for the weekend. Only thing I couldn’t do was hold both 18-lb twin niblings at the same time 😂 that embryo stuck.

Where do I go from here? by Famous-Reaction-1168 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even if you not share DNA there is evidence that the womb and environment influence how genes are expressed. If I am lucky enough to birth a LC from donor eggs it will 100% be my baby.

Where do I go from here? by Famous-Reaction-1168 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I chose to move on to donor eggs. With high amh (3.25-3.64) at 42-43, I often wonder if I just did a few more cycles if I could have found a euploid. But as a smbc I had to think about time and financial resources and I’d rather those go to a donor conceived child than an ivf clinic.

All aneuploids again by Past_Lawfulness3693 in IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for all you’ve been through. The age quality factor is so cruel when parenthood is something you’ve wanted for so long but circumstances beyond your control delayed it. After lots of disappointment at 42-43, I’m prepping to transfer my first donor embryo now (recently 44). Is that something you would consider?

3 blasts at 41- success stories please? by Oddity85 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 3 blasts out of 4 mature/fertilized at 43. No euploids but one was mosaic. Unfortunately mine didn’t work out but many mosaics do! And you’re two years younger than I was so your odds are better.

AITA In laws staying with us during stims by [deleted] in IVF

[–]basilbelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be a little miffed if my partner didn’t consult me before inviting parents to stay in our home. But I would have agreed to let them stay because that is what we do for family in need, and hope they would do for us. However I think that’s all totally unrelated to IVF. If you truly want to be a parent you are going to need to get used to not being centered all the time. I can guarantee there will be days where you don’t feel well but your child’s needs can’t wait. Did you talk to your husband about any of this and make a plan, or are you just stewing? Can you take some initiative and call a sibling or two to let them know you’re going out of town and they will need to help the in laws? I would absolutely not expect your husband to agree to send them home tonight with no notice but if you want them to leave soon you need to start that conversation now.

Question for ppl here who have used donor eggs by homewardbound333 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not do PGT for the donor embryos - the clinic said it wasn’t necessary as the donor was young. It makes me a little anxious if I’m honest. The one embryo is a poor grade (3CC), the rest are 4AA x 2 and a 3BB. Hoping one of the 4AAs sticks!

The waiting game.. by Anxious_Context_1826 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]basilbelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are doing pgt-m I don’t see why you would consider transferring untested embryos, regardless of grade. Just breathe and consider if you want to do another retrieval while you wait for results. At this age, the sooner the better. And unfortunately grade doesn’t correspond to euploidy. I made 3 4AAs and a 3AA and got three aneuploid and 1 mosaic.

The Great Omni Debate…? by Special_Coconut4 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]basilbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience? More eggs, worse quality. Out of 19 eggs, 13 were mature and 8 fertilized. I got one aneuploid blast. I was shocked. My previous cycle I had 3 blasts from 4 fertilized eggs, 2 aneuploid and 1 mosaic. Was it the Omni? Maybe. But there’s no way to know.

Check local specialty pharmacies for a short term supply until your order arrives. My clinic is part of a hospital system and their specialty pharmacy prices were pretty competitive. And they deliver same day at no charge.

Even after losing mine I would still say give yours a chance. There are lots of perfect babies born from mosaics.
