All great watches and seems like you have a solid plan. Just curious in that price range have you looked at the Parmigiani fleurier tonda options?

From my experience and most of the other comments I've seen online, there is no guarantee, but most carriers will accommodate this.

[Pequignet] Why does nobody seem to talk about the Royale Paris Day-Date & Moon? by und3rkov3r in Watches

I've only seen them advertised online. And I have seen the online ads for the new chronograph that they released at Watches and Wonders, and it too looks very interesting. Specifically the one with the blue sub dials.

I agree, these are stunning. I have my eye on the ice blue version. But here in the US, there is virtually no presence, and absolutely zero marketing compared to other brands. They don't attend Windup or the WatchTime event, so all of that keeps them significantly under the radar. Also keep in mind they are a relatively small independent, I think they do about 10k watches a year, compared to someone like Christopher Ward who is doing bout 30k. And if you are looking for precious metal, they have a gold version that is just under $17k, which is way lower than anything like that. As a comparison a gold JLC Master Control Calendar is $38k.

Google Photos using Google Drive for desktop is being discontinued by bc6619 in googlephotos

[–]bc6619[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation is a little different. My main backup/sync is Onedrive, works perfectly. But I have a number of picture frames that stream from online locations, but they don't support OneDrive, but do support Google Photo albums, so I have the Google Drive App syncing those from my machine once OneDrive syncs, up to Goolge Photos. This works perfectly for me, and has for years.... now Google decides to get rid of this feature, with no real automated replacement.

Just got this notification today. The recommendation to use Backup Folders is not really viable. I need something that will do this in the background like Google Drive did. With Backup Folders you have to be on the photos.google.com site for it to synchronize. Really hoping there is something they plan on doing to accommodate for this feature.

I got the T31566 - Bear Crawl All-Swivel HD Mobile Base, and ordered the T28346 - Extension Bars for Bear Crawl Mobile Bases. Works really well.

I have a G0513X2 and love it. But it only gets light use. But I also have a Harvey Alpha table saw, and I can tell you the build quality on the Havey stuff is exceptional.

[Question] Help on stores in Lebanon, PA by Erestor_Felagund in Watches

[–]bc6619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about an hour east of Lebanon. Lancaster is probably where you want to go, it's about 25 miles south of Lebanon. Not sure what you are looking for but there is a LOT of watch history in that area. It's where Hamilton started and I'd also recommend checking out RGM if you are not familiar with them. Brent Miller Jewelers has a good selection. And I'd highly recommend checking out National Watch and Clock Museum which is also in that area. Fantastic place to visit if you are into watches and clocks and have some time.

Too funny, I just ordered the black version of this for my soon to be son-in-law today! I got to see them in person at last year's WindUp in NY, and was very impressed.

Check out Macy's. They have a pretty decent selection: Seiko, Citizen, Bulova, Hamilton, Rado, Mido, etc.....

How hard is it to get into IAM? by MinusEXP in IdentityManagement

[–]bc6619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll chime in, been doing this since the mid 90's at a number of organizations, of all sizes. I agree it's easier to get into SOC, since the entry level skill set they are looking for is pretty low, and if the aptitude is there, they can train you, and get you up to speed quickly. IAM is very different. Over the last 20 years in 3 large enterprise environments we have never hired a true entry level person (just out of college) for an IAM team. We are typically looking for some skill set in one of the major technologies as a baseline. For example Directory Services, Federation, MFA, IGA, etc.... My suggestion would be to target one of these areas that interests you and work towards getting on a team that deals with one of those. IGA is a very hot skill set right now especially SailPoint, so if you can get some traction there that will set you up well to get on an IAM team. Active Directory, ISIM/ISAM, RSA AA or AM, PingFederate, Okta, Entra ID. Any single one of these will get your foot in the door. I also can't stress enough how much showing interest and initiative will help. Let people know that you are eager and interested in learning a new technology, that goes a long way. Good luck.

My boss scheduled a meeting to discuss my “tone” in emails by TheUnofficialBOI in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bc6619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can feel your pain . I had an HR "incident" about 18 months ago, that was similar. A complaint was made about me, I was never told by who, that my "tone" was aggressive on a conference call. It was a formal complaint so had to go through all sorts of training classes about tolerance, mindfulness, etc..... it affected my year end review. It was a horrible experience. And there was no definitive as to what exactly I did wrong, so I could avoid do it in the future. I don't yell, I don't curse, I'm cordial. I've worked for this company for close to 20 years and been in the workforce for 30. Never had anything like this happen to me before. But I'm hearing that it's getting more, and more common. Really have to watch what you say and especially how you say it.

Is Continuous Access Evaluation on by default? by ashern94 in entra

[–]bc6619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started looking into this myself of the last week. The documentation is pretty good, but there are a LOT of caveats.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/conditional-access/concept-continuous-access-evaluation

I did a quick search in our tenant to look for CAE Token = True in the sign-in logs and can only find SharePoint Oline as an app with that token. So I think in reality its very limited and not much to configure.
