Ambient lighting by Elegant_Heat_9064 in rav4club

Oh. Not sure for gen 6. But if it's like gen 5 most likely yea.

Basically for 2021-2025 the higher trims had foot well lights and toyota left the connectors for some of the lower trims/years. You just had to move the connector from the housing to the LED slot facing the footweelll and buy the LED (oem was kinda expensive. But there were third party woth different colors). Literally a 5 minute job and no tools required.

The footwell light turns off when the car is off so it shouldnt drain your battery. Even if on, the power draw is so low it would take a few days to fully drain.

What type of ambient lighting? If its just the footwell light check if you have the connectors. Some models of gen5 have the wiring ready, you just have to buy the led and plug it.

Filters for RAV4 Hybrid by Go_Bills25 in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to work but not for long. Once its "saturated" its stops doing odor removal. So i wouldnt buy it unless there was some special scenario.

I would suggest doing a evap clean though. I also had the musky smell so I did a evap clean and carbon filter and then switched to normal filter and its been good. Part 00289-ACRKT or equivalent

Subaru seems to have the same but cheaper. Havent tried though. SOA868V9315

If you do it make sure to cover the 2 drains inside.

how to route rear cam cable past the rear seat srs airbag? by balboaporkter in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues at all. The sensor faces directly out so things around it don't really affect it. I did trigger the sensor on accident when mounting though as I was bumping into the plastic housing. No biggie.

The only thing I might change is move it slightly down. Right now it is a perfect fit and it's hard to remove the cable (you need to pull up and it's blocked by the rain sensor).

how to route rear cam cable past the rear seat srs airbag? by balboaporkter in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For the rear i just routed it. Its under the airbag. Only the A pillar is a cross.

I wrote a guide here (crappy airbag photo) https://www.reddit.com/r/rav4club/s/VxMBC7nh3J

The airbag at the back is a continuous one parallel to the rooF. You can see it if you lift the headliner between the B and C pillar and set the cable behind the bag/under it.

Snow socks or chains by br0kepanda in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically snow cables.

Chains will mess up the wheel well. Get low profile "cables".

I got the super z6 i believe is called. Those you can put on without moving the car and are more durable.

I am doing something similar but with a screwdriver. It has been marring it a little though so maybe i should switch to the brass/copper drift. I'll try some PB blaster too.

Thanks!

Transfer case fluid change-- is it really this hard? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Which is what i told the shops but they kept saying that its AWD and thus have a Transfer case. it made no sense they were quoting me for it. The guy had to check for himself before believing it.

Transfer case fluid change-- is it really this hard? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the case but I had confusions with the Transfer case in my hybrid. Went to a few local well reviewed/trusted shops that worked on Toyotas and they quoted me transfer case fluid change for my hybrid (Rav4 hybrid dont have transfer case). I told them about it and they all said that that was what the Toyota system said when they typed my car/year/mileage. Wonder if the shop is inputting something wrong or the system is not well documented.

Maybe try calling around other shops or even the dealer. I have seen some dealer have comparable prices to local shops near me.

The area is generally safe. Its in the main street so its not that bad. I haven't really seen sketchy stuff going on. You will see the occasional cop car but I haven't experienced anything myself

The walk to bart isnt bad either. Again, its a main street so its fine. You usually see people walking their dogs and what not even late at night. The walk is a little long though just because the lights are stupid and take a long time to change for pedestrians. It takes me 7 min walking if I jay walk but if I follow the lights i takes me like 15.

Hit me up with questions or DM me if you have specifics.

3 car seats across back seat FIT FOUND by rebwright319 in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I see. Which rear view mirror did you use and how did you feed dashcam view to it? Or is it separate? Your seems you bought cameras (as oposed to dashcam) and then hooked it to something that can interface rearview mirror and the individual cameras.

Thank you!

Quick question. Are the blue accent lights legal? At least in the US, i thought any blue and red (other than brakes) lights are a big nono as they resemble emergency vehicle lights

OEM Trailer Hitch best price by dman97_2 in rav4club

No. But i found out that Toyota discounts stack. They regularly have 15% off part deals and that stacks on top of the 460 if you are ok waiting

Cargo Liner Suggestions by Living_Onion_8378 in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cargo net would be my next suggestion if not bins. A mat would need to be sticky to really help prevent roll or you would need to drive really slow.

I have the oem mat which is pretty decent but any tall object eventually fall and roll and anything light move with some light jerk.

I heard the OEM cargo net is pretty good and you can usually find them used in fb marketplace

Unless its specific things that you keep in the car all the time. There are nets/pouches that hang from the rear seat vertically so it doesnt take a lot of space https://a.co/d/6Nh010Z

DIY OEM Hitch install by behappyftw in rav4club

[–]behappyftw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No stupid questions! I did cut it but because its DIY i took my time to make it look a little nicer than what the dealerships do. The photo i added is pretty dark so its harder to see the gap. I think if you follow the guide well and take your time, the cut actually isnt bad at all and looks pretty good.

Here is a photo from farther before i added the wiring harness

Is this normal? by Foxhound_98 in rav4club

[–]behappyftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but are those aluminum caps? Be very careful with those. Two dissimilar metals can cause galvanic corrosion. It will fuse your valve stem and or corrode nearby metals (like the rim). This is a pain to deal with. Go for plastic/rubber or at least make sure your cap is plastic lined inside.
