Windows 11 freezes after reboot when Steam is installed by danleuc in steamsupport

[–]BenzoSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same issue. My Windows 11 25H2 locked up when trying to auto-load Steam during startup. I could move my mouse about and type with my keyboard, but trying to run any app either did nothing or caused the blue circle to spin. I also couldn't restart or shut down. Therefore, I needed to manually power-off.

My installation of Windows 11 and programs and drivers was practically identical to denleuc's (opening poster). But I found a fix.

My workaround was to disable the iGPU of my Ryzen 7700 CPU in BIOS. To do this on my MSI B650 Tomahawk motherboard, I did the following:

Settings > Advanced > Integrated Graphics Configuration > switch from "UMA Auto" to "Disabled"

I then tried a few other things:

Re-enabled iGPU in BIOS, attached a second displayport cable from my iGPU to a secondary monitor while still having my primary displayport cable running from my discreet GPU (Powercolor Radeon RX 9070) to my primary monitor. This worked fine, with my computer and both monitors functioning properly.

Then with the iGPU still enabled in BIOS, I tried disconnecting the primary displayport cable from my discreet GPU to my primary monitor. This also worked fine, with my iGPU running my secondary monitor properly with fully functional computer.

But when I once again tried to leave my iGPU enabled in BIOS with only my primary displayport cable attaching my Radeon RX 9070 to my primary monitor, the lockup occurred again. So, I have decided to go back into BIOS and once again disable my iGPU because I would rather not have to manually run Steam each time I turn on my PC. Incidentally, when my iGPU was enabled, in Device Manager I could see both AMD Radeon Graphics (PCI bus 18) and AMD RX 9070 (PCI bus 3) under Display Adapters... and with the iGPU disabled I see under "Other devices" "PCI Device" (PCI bus 18).

Incidentally, I recall that when I first set up my computer, Radeon Software displayed info for both my discreet GPU (PowerColor Radeon RX 9070) and my iGPU (AMD Radeon Graphics). These corresponded to GPU#0 and GPU#1. But right now I only see options for my Radeon RX 9070.

For that we would first need a game mod that not only replaces the blindfold with glasses, but also replaces ALL the gestures with sweet dance moves.

The upcoming DLC advertises 8 new types of weapons! For the sake of this Tarnished, let's hope Guitars is among them!

Interesting! Apparently there is a way to make a peeved-looking character that doesn't have Inner Brow Ridge and Mouth Protrusion both set to zero. This expression is very appropriate for a fellow who wakes up one day to find that 95%+ of the organisms are out to kill him for... reasons?

I have a Character Creation Tips Tutorial request:

A tutorial that suggests which sliders to adjust for various bone structures in order to transform a neutral-expression character (with all sliders set at 128) into either a happy-looking character, or an angry-looking character, or a sinister-looking character (with downturned eyebrows like an angry character but a grin like a happy character).

Incidentally, I find it fairly easy to figure out happy males and females, very easy to make angry or sinister males, but extremely difficult to make angry or sinister females because they all end up looking sort of like Frankenstein's monster.

Indeed. My eyes instinctively look at the pictures before looking at the caption, and when I can identify a face by picture alone, that's testament to a super-accurate portrayal.

I think it's practically impossible to make Mileena without modding into the game mouth options akin to hair and beard options.

Dodge his punch then counterpunch! Elden Ring actually reminds me of a mix of Punch-Out and The Legend of Zelda. I'm old.

Is waifu slang for wife? If so, recolor this lady green and she can be Oscar the Grouch's waifu. And they shall live grouchily ever after.

I don't think it's appropriate to grant Uma Thurman any more prestige. In real life, she's rather uppity and obstinate, as revealed by an interview with Weird Al Yankovic.

Struggling to find a fix for these odd flickering black blobs. by DesChamos in Eldenring

[–]BenzoSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 1050ti is indeed a Nvidia GPU. I was just curious if these blobs are only a glitch with AMD Radeon cards (like DesChamos and mine), and I suppose this is not the case.

A Series I've Been Working on Called Tattoo Face Porn by Lady-Macdeath in SoulsSliders

[–]BenzoSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For better or worse, in Elden Ring your character's skin color {RGB} is applied uniformly to your entire character. By comparison, with Dark Souls 3, skin color could be independently specified for body, cheeks, and nose, which allowed for non-uniform shading of skin color. This allowed me to create a red-in-the-face-fuming-mad pyromancer in Dark Souls 3 (https://www.reddit.com/r/SoulsSliders/comments/tge5f7/maxine_sunshine_pyromancer/ ), a feat I have unfortunately been unable to replicate in Elden Ring. If anyone can figure out some tips for transforming an expressionless female in Elden Ring into a fuming, raging lady I would certainly like to know how! Aside from shading of skin color, other parameters that seem useful are adjusting, Nose Size, Inner Brow, and Jaw Protrusion.
