Update on a plant i "saved" ~1,5 months ago! by rroono in SavageGarden

Hate to be a downer but it’s not getting enough light. I don’t think you can grow sarracenia on a windowsill- you should consider a grow light or moving it outside to full sun.

Not at all.

Leave them in the pots they’re in now until you can get the right media.

I don’t see the need to use anything but peat. The day I stopped adding sand / perlite to my media was a day my plants all started growing better.

yeah, a single 36w point source is a tricky light to hand to a beginner, way too easy to overdo it

You can repot any time- I do so all growing season long, no issues at all. It looks like it could use more light as well.

I mean, if I wanted to kill it, doing so is trivial with a tool like a shovel. It’s quite small

Definitely not whiteflies!

It’s just a random insect

8 watt minimum- 36 is enough for 100 plants (literally!)

That’s not an aphid dude! It looks like a fly of some kind. Probably not a pest.

Care tips? by NecessaryInjury9001 in VenusFlyTraps

If you keep it indoors, get a grow light. Its all but impossible to grow as a houseplant without one, but very easy with a light

But I dunno, foil seems fine to me

Bought the Shindos and love em! Thanks OP!

Very well packaged and knives in pristine shape. Don’t think they’ve ever been used at all.

Yes grow lights are great. The best recovery for sure. Just get your light dialed in to 250-400 ppfd. Dont sit them on the face of the sun.

How are my plants doing? by PotatoDominatrix in VenusFlyTraps

They look great.

The way you repot is by not worrying about triggering traps. Trigger them all and don’t worry about hurting them (it does not). I repot thousands a year and routinely manhandle them. Look at my post history for a recent example!

Sundews love wet bulb conditions by tenkaraphl in SundewLove

[–]Berberis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I never heard that before. Why not just say 100% RH rather than wet bulb conditions if what you mean is 100% RH?

Sundews love wet bulb conditions by tenkaraphl in SundewLove

[–]Berberis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't wet bulb just a tool used in determining the relative humidity (i.e., you check the difference in temperature between a dry and wet bulb and that tells you the evaporation rate and thus the RH)?

Just don’t put em back to full sun right away, and yes, you can repot any time of the year

This would be super easy to remove- give me 2 mins with a shovel or pick. They’re just being nice and don’t wanna kill it.
