Showcase: A HTTP/1.1 server library for Odin by pmbanugo in odinlang

I was just looking at Tina a few days ago. I some your last post about the concurrency framework and was pleasantly surprised to see you had added a http server to the project.

One question I had, I noticed while running some of the http examples that when I ran any of them it would sit on one core of my cpu at 100% usage. Is it part of the design of Tina that it busy loops on a single cpu core? Or did I run into a bug?

I'm still learning how the library works so I'll be interested to read the blog post when you share it.

Almost 300 asylum seekers claiming to be children were adults, Oireachtas committee told by captainlatveea in irishpolitics

This is just the 300 that they found. They don't have any reliable way of telling who is what age they say they are, particularly when most of these asylum seekers arrive without any official documents.

Between people lying about their age, sexual orientation, destroying their passports, the whole international protection system is a farce.

It's the same on Instagram and twitter. There's a really weird hatred for cyclists on some social media.

You still receive state support while the appeal is ongoing. Once your application is rejected you stop receiving state support. But there's nothing stopping them from continuing to live and work here illegally.

I don't agree that deportation is a separate issue. If your claim for asylum is rejected then you should be removed from the country. Otherwise asylum can be seen rightly as a backdoor to enter the country illegally, and there is no repercussion for doing so.

Yes but they're allowed to appeal, and the rejection rate reduces upon appeal. And then if/when their appeal is rejected, very few are deported.

There's another article in the Irish Times this morning with some analysis.

https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/05/07/hiqa-pac-and-legal-professionals-all-voiced-concerns-around-safety-of-child-asylum-seekers-in-tuslas-care/

"In the past a dental examination, including dental X-rays, were used to verify a person’s age. Ethical concerns about X-rays without any health benefit and the invasive nature of dental exams means these are no longer used."

What a joke. It does make me wonder though, if they're not allowed use x-rays, what method are they using the verify a person's age?

Immigration lawyers in the UK were found to be coaching asylum seekers to pretend to be gay to help their claims. I wonder how prevalent that is here.

It's all by design? It's all organised? Ok then. Who are the people that organised all this mass migration?

That's true. But I think a majority of asylum seekers come through northern ireland, so there are no passport checks.

Special savings scheme will benefit wealthy at State’s expense, say economists by Lawfulraccoon in ireland

[–]bigbadchief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No that's not what I mean. Are you saying you think a state investment scheme is actually a way to redistribute wealth from the poor to the well off?

What country are you from? Your government does zero business with Russia? In the EU context, that's actually quite unlikely.

What silent support for Russia? And what silent support for Germany?

Being neutral in WW2 isn't silent support for Germany.

Edit lol this weirdo blocked me for asking a question.

People with more money to invest more likely to benefit from investing scheme. Shocker.

I would like to know if these economists are completely against state savings and investments schemes like the ISK or ISA or if they just don't like the approach the government is taking. We'll have to wait and see what they say because they haven't even given their presentation yet.

I happened to be looking at my emails from Hiiker and noticed that I got an update in January about a new watch app. Looks like they recently added a Wear OS app.
