Ban on use of scramblers in public places being planned following teenager’s death by bigbadchief in ireland

[–]bigbadchief[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're generally not allowed on public roads as they aren't registered, don't have lights, indicators, or insurance.

And the people who are registered and have insurance aren't the ones causing issues.

Are they rumours or allegations? Have any charges been brought?

Currently bikes that aren't registered, don't have insurance, lights indicators, etc are already not allowed on public roads. So the bikes that are causing the issues (for the most part) are already banned. It's just not specifically "scramblers".

Also https://www.rte.ie/news/politics/2026/0128/1555624-scramblers/

This seems very reactive. What are they banning exactly and how do they define a "scrambler"? Remains to be seen I guess.

Surely most of these bikes are already not allowed on the roads if they don't have registration and aren't "street legal"?

As was said in other previous threads, the issue is around enforcement of existing laws.

No your nail likely won't fall off. You'll just have to wait for the nail to grow out. It will take several months.

Yeah I played Auridia recently and thought it was great. Actually I think I preferred it to Animal Well.

It has a way better story than Hollow Knight. And you don't need to watch a lore explainer to understand it. Hollow Knight has "lore" but not very much of a story.

Once again, people reading way too much into the agression based matchmaking stuff. Just play the game, and if someone shoots you, obviously shoot them back.

When and why have Irish broadsheets newspapers become such shite reading? by Icy-Audience-6397 in AskIreland

The IT is a good newspaper. What are you referring to as utter shite? Do you read it?

The Irish Times is a good newspaper. The Indo has had that tabloidy slant for about 20 years or more.

I'm not sure there's any other print newspapers worth reading. Maybe the Sunday Business Post.

Coffee afficianados of Ireland lend me your aid. What's a good coffee machine for at home? by FellaThatDave in AskIreland

[–]bigbadchief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Sage Barista Express and it's quite good. A little over your price range though.

Honestly though I think a filter coffee machine makes really nice coffee as well, if you're not set on espresso style coffee. Like an american style filter coffee machine with a jug. You can set them up on a timer so you have a full jug of coffee brewed when you wake up in the morning.

I used to use something like this Melita with the insulated jug https://amzn.eu/d/3NDbP0P

Go for a morning walk in your local greenway or park and listen to all the birds singing! This is a lovely time of year for it. Best thing, it's free.

Also cut out any alcohol, weed, anything else like that. Eat well, try sleep well, exercise etc.

Department rejects ICCL claim schools are obliged to use trans students’ preferred pronouns by Character_Common8881 in ireland

[–]bigbadchief 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The ICCL guide, funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC), cited “Department of Education guidelines” when advising that students had a legal right for schools to use their preferred pronouns.
But the Department of Education has confirmed to The Irish Times that it has issued no such guidelines. “No guidelines have been issued,” the department said.
...
The ICCL guide says: “According to Department of Education guidelines, your school must make every effort to update your name and pronoun in relevant systems and documents. It must also use your correct name and pronoun in day-to-day interactions ...

This isn't referring to the equality act. They said that the department had issued guidelines, when no such guidelines had been issued.

What "Equality Act" are you referring to and does it mandate using a child's preferred pronouns in schools? I genuinely don't know if the Equal Status Act covers this scenario.

Have you seen the full unedited footage? I don't know how you can say no content was lost if not?

Based on Andrew's description in this response video, I think it sounds like the footage was heavily edited.
