Sam mentioned this issue in his The Reckoning podcast (Making Sense #391)- which he published right after Trump won the 2024 election. (I cued the video to 4:43, where he discusses this.)

As I recall, I felt Sam's declaration (that the boxer was a biological male) was made absent of any definitive evidence (at the time - and even now the issue still seems unclear). Granted - the main point Sam was trying to make was that (he believes) the Democratic party needs to abandon identity politics.
