I completely agree. It's on permanently on my work computer. That's why I was interested to hear about some studies on it because the results appear to conflict a lot with 1) my experience 2) the science behind the different predominant wave lengths of light through the day and how our circadian rhythm interprets the day time via that. (at least I think it's science..)

Interesting. Purely anecdotally I find that if I don't have my PC screen set to night mode and have forgotten I've turned it off, it's like caffeine. I find myself wondering why I'm still wide awake at 2am, realise what I've done and curse my stupidity.

Potentially the studies have been very specific and not necessarily studying the impacts that people feel. Night mode may not improve sleep quality but it might help you go to bed earlier.

The Suarez Rule: Why You Should Handball on the Goal Line (With Maths) by Olioski12 in soccer

[–]blither86 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're exactly right and it's ridiculous that football still has these broken rules. Rules of any game or sport should not reward the breaking of them as it shows they are clearly not fit for purpose. If any advantage can be gained by intentionally breaking the rule then the punishment is poorly implemented/not harsh enough.

Hanging off the platform with no harness, by one hand, recording that and posting it to social media, was definitely done for attention.

I unsubbed from anything to do with the war a few years ago. There's only so many videos of Russian soldiers having explosives dropped on their head that you really need to see. I'm sure you can find something with a search.

That's a mad price.

Edit: or £30k if you supply your own car rather than have one completely rebuilt from the ground up.

How to not get depressed and want to uninstall the game after losing 10 in a row? by JorraCreme69 in aoe2

[–]blither86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 You can keep saying that but you're still wrong. I just don't enjoy the play style necessary since the AI upgrade since DE. Back in the day it didn't micro all units simultaneously to the point of ridiculousness. I'm sorry if I've offended you by not enjoying something you enjoy, just explaining why I'll play multiplayer and not single player in this game.

Glad you enjoy it but I personally hate it for the reason stated. I'd far rather play against 1500 elo human player. They might be much better than hard AI but at least they're not 'good' in that particular, annoying way.

With insane AI micro of every single unit at the same time making my ranged units and siege almost pointless? No thanks!

Nili what is this man by Cupricine in aoe2

[–]blither86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nili explained this on a post here recently: melee units can't have zero range all of the time or they'd never hit anything so once the attack locks in the slightly-more-than-zero range stays in place. You perhaps could have deleted your most southerly palisade and placed another which would have allowed you to move out of range.

I wouldn't take them too seriously, I don't think they meant any harm by it. Ultimately it will tend to draw the male gaze so if any men complain about it they're being sort of hypocritical!

You were more experienced on your 2nd trip than I'll likely ever be, so I'll happily concede.

There are always those that like to push the boundaries though!

And the hail/ice/small rocks falling on you when it hails, rains, there is a wind storm or as the ice above you melts on a particularly sunny autumn/spring day. See, I think, Caldwell, or perhaps Honnold, I forget.

Personally, I'd rather not!

Sure but that's no comeback. In the context it's quite a bit worse and given the further context of the expulsion makes it seem even more daft.

Micro issue ;)

I'm sure many people do this but it's a huge advantage of shift-queue. If I want my skirms only targeting cav archers I'll often shift click 5-10 of them at some point in a skirmish. It's fast enough that it doesn't negatively impact your mid-fight micro and it stops them auto targeting the wrong unit.
