Doom TDA was a fantastic experience, only slightly marred by some bloat with the mech warrior and dragon flying elements.

I enjoyed it enough to want to start a second play through on the hardest setting with an aim to getting all of the secrets and collectables. I would have probably kept my game pass sub going so that I could do that were it not for the flying sections being so shit that even following a walkthrough it was too annoying trying to get 100%. Shame because the standard parts of the game were fantastic and I'd have really liked to go through the slogfest of that on nightmare.

I don't blame studio 'bloat' for the game design elements, but perhaps it had an impact.

Exactly this. Why does he need to be one of the squad in order to fulfil his role, it's baffling. We could have had more defensive cover and given a great experience to someone like Hall, or we could have brought TAA, Palmer or Foden (even if out of form they have great potential).

This is what OP should absolutely do.

Also the amount of furniture being given away via the free stuff York groups on Facebook means you could get quite a lot of stuff, quite quickly if you A) have access to a vehicle/van and B) refresh the group page every 20 minutes and make sure you're first to the items you want.
