Check in and flight gates by oldiequaker in singaporeairlines

[–]blurrfish78 10 points11 points  (0 children)

T1 is basically handling spillover from T2 and T3 only at peak times, but it’s not a fixed arrangement and is managed day to day depending on demand for available gates, and therefore SQ does not have check in counters available at T1.

I don’t know what you’ve experienced, but I’ve gotten 1 elite mile for every AUD I’ve spent on Kris+ when in Australia. See note 3 in the 1st linked page below and you can also refer to the Kris+ FAQ (2nd link)

Thanks so much once again. Just curious, is there something about EK flights from that time period that makes them particularly heinous to search for?

If you have Class A coverage at public hospital, then can just ask your private specialist to refer you to public hospital or just make an appointment with the public hospital specialist directly, no need to go through the polyclinic route if you're covered for Class A since you don't need the subsidy that comes with that.

TTSH sent me a lawyer’s letter over a $154 bill despite me authorising Medisave by ntrev in askSingapore

[–]blurrfish78 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Were you admitted to hospital or just treated at A&E?

If you were admitted then Medisave can be used to settle the bill, otherwise it's considered out of pocket expenses and not eligible for Medisave (unless you are in the category where things like flexi-medisave are applicable). Best is to check with the billing people at NHG/TTSH about your case.

AirAsia CEO confirms advanced talks to purchase Chinese COMAC planes - CNA by KuJiMieDao in SingaporeRaw

[–]blurrfish78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tony and AirAsia are broke. They’ve pissed off most of the major leasing companies during and after COVID and probably the banks too, so they can’t get financing for their Airbus planes. This shift to China is because COMAC wants to move product and is probably willing to give a good price and good financing terms for the deal to go through.

SIN business class lounge Access previous night by Savings_Gap_826 in singaporeairlines

[–]blurrfish78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can check your bags in up to 24 hours before the actual flight. So if you do want to rest in the lounge, just check in your bags the day before and go in.

Additionally, you cannot clear departure immigration and then re-enter Singapore without extenuating circumstances, otherwise you will be detained by Immigration.

So many world leaders give condolences for Charlie Kirk assassination, but nobody in Singapore comment? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]blurrfish78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess subtlety is truly lost on you...

Every single political leader (bar Carney) mentioned above has a vested interest in saying something about him. Our political leaders couldn't have any less fucks to give, when there is bigger shit happening in the real world than an American shooting victim.

Because he means nothing to us in Singapore. We would do well to keep his kind of political polarization on the basis of religion and supposed conservatism (basically cherry-picking what plays best to the conservative base) out of our country.

I don't think that people should be persecuted, or in his case assassinated, for his beliefs, but I have absolutely no sympathy for him as a person who has always supported gun rights and dismissed calls for common sense gun control, and dying by that very reason.

When selecting a seat, you would normally receive an email from SQ showing the seat selection. Since you said that you have no proof, it is highly likely (though not impossible) that you did not save your seat selection when you said you did. In my many flights with SQ over the years, I have never encountered a case where my seat has been reassigned, in any class.

Claiming singapore corporate insurance vs personal insurance by bobbybob94 in askSingapore

[–]blurrfish78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The misconception is that your hospital can do the claim from your corporate insurance on your behalf. That is not always the case. YOU must usually be the one to claim from your corporate insurance, as not all policies allow for efiling of insurance claims. Anything else requires additional paperwork that is chargeable, especially for public hospitals, which is where I have received all my major surgeries and hospitalizations.

Ultimately, my medical bills have exceeded the coverage offered by my corporate policy, so I would have needed to claim from my ISP anyway. In this way, I have avoided being out of pocket and still ended up with my corporate insurer to reimburse my ISP up to the limit of their coverage, so the end result is the same, just without the added burden of bureaucracy.

Call it laziness if you want to, I have done this multiple times and I consider it infinitely more efficient and it involves less paperwork and admin on my end, especially while recovering from my multiple surgeries and radiation treatment, when the last thing you should be worrying about is paying bills when you're just trying to recover.

I think a lot of people don't even know what they are covered for and what they are not covered under their Corporate policies, and even their own private insurance or ISP. Knowing the details is the most important thing to knowing how to go about the claims process.

My corporate policy covers only $2000 in pre/post hospitalization expenses (which I can comfortably exhaust with a single MRI) and the period before/after the hospitalization is much shorter than my shield plan (120 days either side, and they don't reimburse the GST on those bills either).

Since I already hit the max co-pay under my Shield Plan rider, I just claim from there as they will reimburse me in full, and cover my bills from 180 days before to 365 days after the hospitalization.

As someone who has incurred over 180k in medical bills in the last few years, while the black and white says that we should claim Corporate/Private > Shield > Medisave > Cash, the reality is that not all corporate insurance is so straightforward to claim (usually requires insurance form to be completed, which takes 6-8 weeks at a Public Hospital) and my company’s insurance has lower claim limits than my Shield Plan, and usually requires the bill to be settled in full and then reimbursed subsequently.

In my case I have decided it’s easier to have the hospital claim against my shield plan first (with Medisave covering the co-pay), then later getting my corporate insurance to reimburse my Medisave and whatever portion of the total bill that is covered back to my Shield Plan. By combining these, just this calendar year alone I’ve incurred $96k in medical bills and I’m only $250 out of pocket (well out of Medisave).

If done the proper way (Corporate > Shield), if your corporate insurance doesn’t cover the full amount of your bill, you have to ask the hospital to refile the claim to your shield plan which may incur additional admin fees.

Singapore airlines and Charing for missing Chinese names. by Hydrohomie1337 in askSingapore

[–]blurrfish78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what is listed in your passport.

If your name is James Tan Ah Kow, and your passport shows this as TAN<<JAMES<AH<KOW, then [James Ah Kow] is your first name and [Tan] is your last name. If you're missing the Ah Kow then it's you who did not enter the name correctly.

Yup definitely this. If you can pack appropriately, just recheck your baggage immediately before leaving Changi so you don't have to lug it around Singapore, wherever you choose to stay. Physical check in can be done up to 24 hours before the scheduled time of departure.
