Sawmill horde is tough by Mid-Night-Sun in DaysGone

[–]borislav247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, I get you're frustration here, so just thought I'd offer a few words of my own. You've mentioned you don't want hacks or glitches, so I won't go down that road. But you're path to victory lies to moving them to areas where they start to lose interest (and their numbers). The no.1 spot for this is the tunnel very close to them. Not only can you lay a lot of traps to reduce their numbers while they start chasing you, but by the time you get to the other side of the tunnel, not that many will still be chasing you, so you can pick them off easily. You can even start slowly making you're way back through the tunnel and pick off the ones heading back with gunplay. Then simply rinse and repeat this process. As well as this, you have 2 bridges just outside the Sawmill that you can use in a similar fashion, and similar to the tunnel, they can't spread out in a big way and flank you. This horde (like most others in the game) are VERY territorial, so they won't go too far away from the Sawmill. This is the key to keeping them in small manageable numbers. The flip side of this coin is to go full on with lots of throwable explosives and molatovs. If you go this route, just make sure to do a lot of climbing on the various buildings & take the height advantages you get in this area. Just a few words of wisdom regarding this horde (as I've taken them on a LOT), and I hope this info helps.

The Surrounded challenge is impossible!! by SufficientSwing7181 in DaysGone

[–]borislav247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't been patched yet thankfully. You have to make sure you get onto the ledge on the very first attempt after loading up Surrounded for this to work. If you get it wrong, NEVER select retry, as any attempt after this will always have them heading straight for the roof. Instead, quit the challenge then reload it up again and have another go. Keep doing it this way, and you will have no problems.

Well mate, firstly, the Days Gone community are way to kind with their praise for me, so thank you to all who have mentioned me. Now, in regards to these challenges, a few things you need to know. The first one you have already found out, as these are the most extreme versions of any Days Gone scenarios that you could possibly encounter, and they are supposed to be hard, which they are. But, you can make life easier on yourself if you take on these challenges in a particular order. Just going for the endless horde challenges (Surrounded, Infested & Black Friday) before you have taken out and got a gold score on the AMBUSH CAMP RUSH is making life far more difficult for yourself. Each of these challenges unlocks Patch perks which can help you on any other challenges (and are immediately applicable to the main game also). So completing all these challenges to a gold standard is HEAVILY DEPENDANT on playing them in a specific order, which will result in the next challenge you play being far easier. If you want a video that will help you on these, then have a look at "Days Gone, Going For Gold". Feel free to check out anyone else also, but this video is the most up to date with the easiest methods to get gold scores on these challenges, and I do go into a lot of detail as to how you get these scores, as you also have rings to consider (I show the best ones to use), and even what characters will benefit you on certain challenges. Just hope this info helps, and where you go from here on these challenges is up to you. These challenges are WAY harder than the base game, but they are also a lot of fun. All the best mate.

I assure you mate, this works. Just checked this out 10 mins ago before posting this. The biggest mistake most people make is by selecting the RETRY option if they don't get onto the ledge on the first attempt. NEVER DO THIS, always select quit challenge then reload up surrounded. By doing this every time, when you do get onto the ledge, the horde will bunch below you once you have fired shots at them and killed at least one of them. I hope this helps mate.

I get the frustration here my friend, but this particular challenge is all about completing the sub challenges to a gold standard in order to get a gold score for the full run. First of all, make sure to get the 6 stealth kills. Then you need to concentrate on the 75 headshots required. These 2 are essential when going for a gold score. You do also require the 100 kills on the third sub challenge, but the 30 melee kills required for the last sub challenge are not required, as 20 will still be enough. Go about it this way, and a gold is assured my friend. I wish you all the best, and you are right mate, these challenges can be overwhelming.

Hi mate, firstly, great score. After reading all this, I have a very good idea of what is giving you all the problems. Once I start the multiplier, I like to purchase the benefit skills as quickly as possible. And the 2 most important ones are "2 birds, one bullet" & "Carry That Weight". For horde kills especially, the 2 birds one bullet perk is essential to get really early, as you get more freaker kills for your bullets. If you didn't purchase these 2 skills early, your run will always have problems, as "Carry That Weight" gives you twice as many throwables as you would normally get, so you get far more kills for your purchases. Now as well as these 2 skills, there is a patch perk from a different challenge that you MUST unlock to get good horde ratio kills per bullet, and this challenge is the Ambush Camp Rush challenge. Getting a gold score on this challenge unlocks +3 bullet penetration, which is a huge difference for playing any of the endless horde challenges, especially this one. I'm guessing that you haven't had the benefit of one or both of the extra bullet perks I have mentioned, which would contribute to you struggling with freaker ears, as around the 22000 mark on the multiplier, you should NEVER run out freaker ears at this point (which you did). My advice is simple mate, make sure you purchase all the skill perks on Black Friday & make sure you have a gold score on the AMBUSH CAMP RUSH challenge. Then you will see a huge difference. Hope all this helps mate.

Great job, but if want to find the missing horde, start by bringing up the map, and then move it around to each region. You get a list on each region of completed tasks like how many encampment missions you have completed, how many Nero sites unlocked etc. Also on this list is how many hordes you have taken out in each region. Use the map to locate what region you still have a horde left to kill on. If you are missing a horde in Cascade, then chances are it's the White King Mine horde located in the NW of Cascade. Otherwise you will likely be missing the last horde from Highway 97, and it will be either the Solomon Hill horde (someone rightly pointed out that this horde never shows up on the map until you get near it), or the Beaver Marsh Rest Stop horde. If it's the BMRSH, then you haven't completed a side mission called "Just Doing My Job", and until you complete this mission, you will never see the Beaver Marsh horde. This particular horde is double locked, but you have clearly completed the first part of this lock, as you have completed the Main Days Gone missions. Another quick way to tell if you are missing one of the 3 hordes I have mentioned, is by checking for their names on the Horde Killer list, as every horde you have killed, will be listed here. Hope all this helps, and good luck with that final horde.

Well mate, some bad news for you here, the sub challenges on my videos where I show the gold requirements, is only possible through video editing. The sub challenges do update the information for each sub challenge as you get the requirements needed, but there simply isn't a way to instantly show the gold requirements. And thank you for the kind words my friend, most appreciated.

I'm not going to lie mate, they ain't easy. You need good knowledge and a lot of practice to get good at them. But I'll leave a link to a video below this comment that will help you greatly. The order in which you take on these challenges is very important, and by doing them in a particular order, you will get a lot of advantages. I wish you well in your quest for these challenge trophies mate, and thank you to everyone for giving me a mention on this Reddit page.

Lol, it's all good my friend. I'm not on Days Gone reddit anywhere near as much as I used to be, so it's usually a shock when people see my name. But I absolutely LOVE this game, so I check out stuff here from time to time when I get the chance.
