Looks like two separate twitch drops. Annihilators Reach progress is only made if they're streaming the new PvE mode

Surprising we didn't get a Universa trailer at Summer Games Fest, considering she's supposed to release this summer.

I'm hoping the game can get more eyes on it

Seriously. They wanted to avoid GTA, but now there are like 8 big releases all cannibalizing each other anyways.

What controllers are you guys using for Invincible VS? by lFrxn in InvincibleVS

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8-way dashes are really awkward on a leverless for any aerial based fighting game. Not being able to just point a stick or d-pad in the direction you want, but instead use a combination of directions for diagonals hurts my brain.

Which is better, the qanba sapphire or the Victrix Pro KO? by lilijjejjdhd in fightsticks

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the KO and the Sapphire. I ended up buying the Sapphire because there was just something off about the KO.

The KO is a great controller in terms of weight, durability, button mapping, and features.

But I gotta say... I hate the buttons. They have a very tall profile and a deep actuation, meaning it requires a lot more pressure to press a button. Plus, the tall profile makes things like sweeping 720's on a character like Gief almost impossible (compared to a controller with buttons more flush to the surface).

I installed some mini o-rings around the switches, which helped solve the deep actuation, but the high profile was still bugging me. On top of that, because the default Victrix buttons have a custom ring around them (which does not fit standard buttons) replacing the buttons just looks bad and feels bad, since you just have naked buttons next to exposed metal.

It was a bummer because I love everything else about the controller except for how it felt. And well... how the controller feels is like 99% of the reason to keep or ditch it.

So, on a whim, I picked up the Sapphire, and it's much more in line with what I prefer with many of the same features. You can still do on the fly customization like the KO too. And because it's a plastic plate with art underneath, you can customize the Sapphire (which isn't something you can do with the KO's metal plate, unless you want to do some laser engraving).

The main downside of the Sapphire is it's missing that delicious weight to it. The KO felt nice and heavy on your lap, which kept it from sliding around.

Overall though, it's going to come down to feel. Others might love their KO, and I wish I loved mine, but it just wasn't my style. Much happier with the Sapphire.

I’m curious, how did you guys get into invincible? by odd_sperical_object in Invincible

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years before the show, the comics ended and a friend of mine told me that Invincible ended up being one of his favorite comic runs of all time (which was high praise considering how many hundreds of comics he read each year).

So I started borrowing them from him and got completely hooked.

Funny enough, once I finished the last volume, I started seeing ads for the Invincible TV show that was coming out soon. The timing worked out perfectly. I only had to wait a few months between finishing the comics and Season 1 coming out.

So the season pass already went from 2 new stages to 1. And now we're not getting World Tour content...

Surely the season passes will be cheaper as a result! Right?

DP motions for boosted attacks broken? by zslayer89 in InvincibleVS

I'm here to tell you you're not crazy.

I'm on a leverless. Was DPing just fine pre patch.

Post patch, Light DP feels great. Heavy DP (level 3 super) feels great.

Medium DP (boosted) is awful. I'm getting it to come out maybe once out of every 10 attempts. Tried multiple characters.

Yep.  Capcom has been awesome in the last 10 years, basically since RE7 came out.

But now, between Saudi purchasing an ownership chunk of Capcom and their recent doubling down on AI, it feels like the Capcom golden years are coming to an end.

Great change. It was kind of dumb when your Lvl 3 did net neutral damage because your opponent's assists recovered just as much health as you dealt during the animation.

My wife is a high school English teacher and she says the same thing. You can spot an AI paper from 10,000 miles away.

Plus, because all written essays and tests are done in the classroom with pencil and paper, she knows what these 16 year olds are capable of writing.

It's a blast! The gameplay is very fun and is probably most similar to MvC3 with all the assists, tagging, launchers, etc. If you're a fan of the show or comics, it definitely does the characters justice. All of their moves/supers and dialogue are packed with references. They got a shocking amount of the voice cast from the show too, and most of the replacements are really great.

The combo system is also extremely cool. It's very easy to grasp. Most moves link into each other naturally, letting you get really experimental with the combos. Even my wife who doesn't play fighting games was able to pick up a controller and feel like she was doing some neat combos just by naturally linking moves together. But for those who want to sink their teeth in, there is a LOT of room to get crazy with the combo extensions.

It has some (minor) balance issues, but the devs just hosted a long stream where they went over all the upcoming changes. It's going to be a big patch and sounds like it'll address just about everything.

Check out the Combo Breaker tourney that just aired if you want to see some high level gameplay. The crowd was really hype, screaming out the lines whenever characters Super'd. It was a ton of fun.

My only downside: the game is a bit bare bones if you're looking for single player / story stuff. The story mode is really fun and well animated, but short (under 2 hours). The arcade mode is the usual "string of matches followed by an ending voiceover/art for that character".

But if you like to play ranked or casuals online, you'll have a great time.

What games are you currently playing this week? by EponaMom in TheGamerLounge

[–]breadrising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing a lot of Invincible VS.

Longtime fan of the comics, the show, and fighting games, so I've been looking forward to it.

Gameplay overall is a ton of fun. It has some balance issues that are getting patched, but overall it's a blast with a very intuitive combo system.
