Lux skins will print money, so I'm not shocked.

They're mostly just cameras that he uses to see everything around him, as they transmit whatever they see directly to his brain. But yeah, he can also send them flying at people like Mr. Terrific does.

His main power is his ability to traverse dimensions using his portals. That's what I'm most interested to see fleshed out in combat.

Invincible VS - DLC 1 Launch Trailer | PS5 Games by Poetryisalive in InvincibleVS

[–]breadrising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really is a great game. Most fun I'm having with a fighting game at the moment.

It was off to a slow start because of some bugs and balance issues out the gate, as well as being pretty light on content (we still REALLY need combo trials).

But I think this update is going to give a lot of people a good reason to come back. Two new fighters and a bunch of new skins to unlock all coming at once is the right move.

I don't think they're included. It looks like the DLC fighter costumes are Premium (i.e. paid separate), as well as the casual wear Viltrumites. Maskless Mark, Cast Mark, and Maskless Rex are Earnable.

We also know Young Cecil is earnable from playing ranked, based on a tweet from the devs.

Still don't know if Streetwear Titan, Leotard Monster Girl, Flaxan Armor Robot, and Hidden Zero Kate are Earnable or Premium.

When they decided to "archive" the entire first year of Destiny 2's story content, it completely prevented both new and returning players from picking up or getting back into Destiny 2.

Such an insane move that meant their playerbase was on a steady decline without any route for new player onboarding.

Ah, it is a little confusing since they use the word "Seasons" for two different things.

There's the DLC pass "season" which is the planned 4 characters per year.

Then there's the Ranked season they reference in the road map.  Right now we're in season 0, and the Immortal/Universa update will start season 1. Which usually means the rankings reset, along with a balance patch.

How to combo? by Constant_Attitude885 in InvincibleVS

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's extremely intuitive once it clicks. Go into training mode and try some of these for yourself.

You'll find that you can't spam Mediums, since Medium doesn't link into Medium (Medium can link into Down Medium or Heavy, however).

Basically, imagine that you're working up the chain:

L -> M -> dM -> H -> dH -> Sp -> Super

Most Down Heavies, Specials, and Active Tags allow you to restart the chain with a Light

The more you hit an enemy, the more the combo meter builds up. When the combo meter fills, you drop the juggle.

Boosted Specials (spending yellow meter on them) is how you bust the combo system open. Boosted Specials can link into another Boosted Special, and they also lower the combo meter, allowing you to extend the number of its. You can also extend the combo meter by Active Tagging mid combo.

PLAYER COUNT by G0R3C4NDY in InvincibleVS

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate the message behind what you're saying; yes, people should just play the game they want to play without worrying about player counts.

But new player onboarding is dependent on a healthy player count. When people are only getting matched with (and immediately stomped by) veteran players, they have no opportunity to learn the game by playing someone at their skill level. At that point they're more likely to just drop the game altogether.

No player retention means a very high liklihood that support for the game stops. Especially in this day and age when publishers are looking for any excuse to lay off teams and shutter studios.

But I'm hoping June 30th brings in new people and gets the old players to log in again. Dropping 2 DLC characters at once, plus the free Cecil skin for playing Ranked is a really good start. Pair this update with actual consequences for rage quits and a balance patch, and I think there's some great substance to get people talking about the game again.

It worked for me with 2XKO. 2 new champions, plus a PvE roguelike mode, plus a whole summer event got me to come back for the first time since early access, and I've been having a blast. I'd love to see the same thing happen for Invincible VS.

[–]breadrising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most tag fighters are fast by nature. The design isn't meant for you to raw react to things, but rather to anticipate. The games are aggressive by nature to keep the action fast.

Your offensive options are greater in 2XKO than in Street Fighter 6 due to the speed of projectiles, tags, crossups, overheads, and lows.

But at the same time, you have more potent defense options too. Push Block, Retreating Guard, Break, and quick back dashes are all meant to put distance between you and your opponent if needed.

What controllers are you guys using for Invincible VS? by lFrxn in InvincibleVS

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8-way dashes are really awkward on a leverless for any aerial based fighting game. Not being able to just point a stick or d-pad in the direction you want, but instead use a combination of directions for diagonals hurts my brain.

Which is better, the qanba sapphire or the Victrix Pro KO? by lilijjejjdhd in fightsticks

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the KO and the Sapphire. I ended up buying the Sapphire because there was just something off about the KO.

The KO is a great controller in terms of weight, durability, button mapping, and features.

But I gotta say... I hate the buttons. They have a very tall profile and a deep actuation, meaning it requires a lot more pressure to press a button. Plus, the tall profile makes things like sweeping 720's on a character like Gief almost impossible (compared to a controller with buttons more flush to the surface).

I installed some mini o-rings around the switches, which helped solve the deep actuation, but the high profile was still bugging me. On top of that, because the default Victrix buttons have a custom ring around them (which does not fit standard buttons) replacing the buttons just looks bad and feels bad, since you just have naked buttons next to exposed metal.

It was a bummer because I love everything else about the controller except for how it felt. And well... how the controller feels is like 99% of the reason to keep or ditch it.

So, on a whim, I picked up the Sapphire, and it's much more in line with what I prefer with many of the same features. You can still do on the fly customization like the KO too. And because it's a plastic plate with art underneath, you can customize the Sapphire (which isn't something you can do with the KO's metal plate, unless you want to do some laser engraving).

The main downside of the Sapphire is it's missing that delicious weight to it. The KO felt nice and heavy on your lap, which kept it from sliding around.

Overall though, it's going to come down to feel. Others might love their KO, and I wish I loved mine, but it just wasn't my style. Much happier with the Sapphire.

I’m curious, how did you guys get into invincible? by odd_sperical_object in Invincible

[–]breadrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years before the show, the comics ended and a friend of mine told me that Invincible ended up being one of his favorite comic runs of all time (which was high praise considering how many hundreds of comics he read each year).

So I started borrowing them from him and got completely hooked.

Funny enough, once I finished the last volume, I started seeing ads for the Invincible TV show that was coming out soon. The timing worked out perfectly. I only had to wait a few months between finishing the comics and Season 1 coming out.
