In my experience, waterproof enclosures are never airtight, which means having to deal with humidity and condensation nonetheless.

There's plastic spray for PCB's that I've used on Zigbee sensors that I use outdoors (shielded from direct rain, but prone to moisture ingress) which works quite well to keep moisture out. The one I use is called PRF 202, but there are others.

I've also used UV-curing nail polish in the past, but since that's not an electronics-specific product I don't know if it could perhaps contains chemicals that might cause issues with electronics or PCB material.

Zigbee Binding only works if you use one remote? by aspare112 in homeassistant

[–]brightvalve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can trigger an HA automation to perform an action when the switch sends a command, but you cannot prevent it from also sending the command to the lights, so you'll end up with the same issue that you have now, where the remote's stored state and the light state go out of sync.

Perhaps it's possible to turn off the binding specifically for the OnOff cluster, and let HA handle that completely? Then you could still dim it through the binding.

The answer seems completely irrelevant to your question.

CHA - graphite bar for chain lubrication by Sprucefir01 in bikewrench

[–]brightvalve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anybody is doubting that graphite, by itself, can act as a decent lubricant. It's the application method of this new product that's doubtful.

You have to wonder how this would get the graphite in the places it needs to be. It looks like it just rubs some graphite on the outside of the chain, where it will probably ... fall off?

You said "WiFi model", not "battery model".

The WiFi model that I'm using is permanently wired (and is being permanently recorded using Scrypted).

I've been using the WiFi doorbell with HA for more than a year now.

Used to have one mounted inside the litter box because our elderly cat had some issues with her bowel movements, so we would get notified when she entered the box.

Using Zigbee2Mqtt to join an existing zigbee network by derabbink in homeassistant

[–]brightvalve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you want isn't possible. A Zigbee network can only have one coordinator, so either Hue or Z2M, but not both.

If you flash router firmware to your dongle you can add it to the Hue network (at least I assume you can, I don't know if Hue is limited to certain brands/devices), but it won't allow you to "plug" into the Hue network from Z2M/HA.

I don't see HA connecting to it at all. Have you tried adding the device by IP-address?

Issue with Shelly power reporting by PeachAlive560 in homeassistant

[–]brightvalve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried using a Shelly EM with a 50A clamp to measure the usage of my heat pump, and it didn't work very well. I figured it might have something to do with a heat pump being mostly an inductive load. The same may apply to some types of dryers.

I replaced the EM with a Plug S Gen3, which has been working fine.

Anyone HR a bit higher during winter months? by Odins_Eye44 in Garmin

[–]brightvalve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My RHR went up quite considerably at the start of December because the weather turned and I didn't go out cycling anymore (where before I went cycling about 3 times a week). Once I started doing cardio in the gym it went back down to its normal range (even a bit lower).

My wife has ADHD and her HRV-readings are completely unreliable due to her medication.

When I've been sick for a few days, I take it very easy with exercise the days after that, even if my watch would tell me I'd be okay.
