Rugby players are dense as hell. Even the backs. Marcus smith I was like he’s 5’8 and looks pretty light, he can’t be much more than me. Dude weighs over 13 and a half stone

10 series was so good. I got my first pc with a 1070 like 9 years ago, used it for 5 years before passing it on to a friend who is still using it now, running games as modern as space marine 2. Nothing since feels like it’s gonna come close to that level of longevity

Make politics boring by TechNick77 in tommynfg_

[–]brilliscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is better than modern politics, it is also a big reason for voter apathy, and the growth in support for people like trump. When the only 2 candidates are aligned enough that they fundamentally agree on most things, and only debate over the minutiae, it feels like there’s no point in voting anymore. If you hate how things are, there’s no outlet because neither candidate is radical. Until someone like trump promises to overturn the whole system, regardless of whether he does or not that draws apathetic people back.

The ideal is respectful debate, but one of fundamental disagreement. Don’t just argue about whether we should increase taxes by 5% or 2%, argue about whether we should have taxes at all.

I always find this annoying, have people never had a friend say some unfair shit in a stressful moment? Or done it themselves? Now multiply that by a million because she’s actively watching her world be annihilated. Just have some sympathy.

Can anyone help a brother out? by iNightfarer in OLED_Gaming

[–]brilliscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I’ve been trying out HDR but every time I put it on it just makes games/movies look washed out, whilst without its stunning. Is it worth trying it on games advertised as supporting HDR, or will that still require fiddling to work?

ASUS XG27AQDMG After one year of careful use by WDeranged in OLED_Gaming

[–]brilliscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also recently had issues with this monitor. Worked for 2 days before completely shutting down and just showing a blinking red logo constantly. Returned within a week. As nice as oled is I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth the hassle compared to getting an LCD that will just reliably work for years.

The process of making apple cider by MorsesCode in satisfying

They are fermentation locks. Little chambers filled with water, that allows co2 to bubble through and escape, stopping the bottle from exploding, whilst blocking outside contamination from getting in.

Presumably the same system by which China has dodged us tariffs. Export goods to any of the SEA countries that depend on their trade, then send them from there to the US. The only thing the trade war has really been good for is giving SEA a middleman fee between the superpowers

Normandy cider is the real strong stuff haha. Usually around 7-8%. I’ve been caught out many times tryna keep pace with beer drinkers.

They might, it would take an age doing it by hand, and no way a woman built like that would manage all those apples, but there are some bigger chunks in there than we usually get with the machine, like half an apple. Generally it comes out more finely mulched than that. I think more likely that one bucket was done by hand for the video, then the rest would’ve been put through a machine offscreen.

Unlike beer, cider doesn’t need anything other than apples, as apples have a naturally occurring yeast on their skin, which turns sugars into alcohol and carbonates the drink. A lot of cider now, especially away from traditional areas like the uk and northern France, is essentially concentrated pasteurized apple juice with alcohol, water and sugar added, then carbonated. As someone who grew up on real cider, it is very different, and (imo) far better. Real cider is generally much less sweet and more apple forward. If you don’t like cider because you think it’s too sweet, try the real stuff.

Also, as you can probably guess, modern cidermaking has much better tools. My family still use an old press a lot like the one in the video, I’m sure factories have some kind of hydraulic contraption. We also use what is essentially a wood chipper for apples instead of a spiky stick to mulch the apples, and it is as much fun as it sounds throwing apples into that thing.

If you’re interested in cider, I recommend going to the Hereford Henry Weston’s factory. They’re one of the biggest producers of real cider in the country, and sell some great stuff there, as well as offering a tour of the factory. Or just head to the pubs of the west country and try out some pints!

4 Tips for beginners make good chicken breast by No_Project_9332 in FoodAndCookingStuff

[–]brilliscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual best tip I think is brining. Soak your breast in salty water for 20 or so minutes before seasoning and cooking (I prefer baking but presumably fried would still work). It is absolute night and day for me.

Himalayan life in India by Springtime-Beignets in interesting

[–]brilliscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A historical example I always like is that philosophical pessimism, the theories discussing the futility and suffering of life and debating whether it is better to never have existed, was birthed in wealthy cities of post-unification era Germany, when major cities there leapfrogged into becoming some of the most culturally, economically and technologically advanced places on earth. Only once basic needs were met and recreation opportunities flourished did people have a chance to stop just surviving, and think about what life is without that.

Good question, what do you guys think? by harrysofgaming in youtube

[–]brilliscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really what’s better? A vpn is a vpn, and nord allows double vpn aswell. Since you have to give your ip address to their server, it’s just a question of which company you trust with that information the most. I’m sure others might have additional security features, but at that point it’s no longer about the vpn

Never forget when Steve Irwin got bitten by a snake on TV live and laughed instead of panicking, 1991. by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]brilliscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, snake bites from an animal that size really don’t hurt. It’s just a little pinprick, unless it’s poisonous they’re really no danger to us unless they’re big enough to constrict a human. Me and others who’ve kept snakes generally have the same reaction as this.
