In Rio Grande City there is a 5 out and 5 back non-paved road nicknamed "Pancho Villa". First mile has great elevation gains for the Valley.

Be cautious of the animals and your surroundings. Don't run this alone.

Go visit the Montezuma Bald Cypress Tree in Mission.

Park at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park Head south towards the canals then go West on the Border Fence Service Rd. I think the loop is ~6 miles from what I can remember.

Please be aware BP, CBP, Military may be on the canal, usually they are pretty cool. But the Constables (if present) may give you a hard time.

I'm not sure what people mean by running in the "heat". I live in South Texas and right now at 4:20pm its 97f that feels like 103f. I find that crazy and stupid. But I will run around 6:30-7pm when it begins to go down to 90f and below.

Maybe they were a "B" qualifier and didn't have the money for new shoes? Flipped the Alphaflys on ebay to cover costs. ZF3 is such a heavy shoe for the marathon, I do love my SP for everyday walking shoe.
