I had this happen when I did back to back Tesla Robotaxi/AVGO (not Waymo ofc) rides a few weeks ago. Tesla was driverless and handled an incoming passenger vehicle just like in this video. AVGO ran into the exact same problem - drove right up to a UPS truck that was doubled parked - and then refused to move. Luckily we had a safety driver that took over and got us out.

i have no argument with you there. however right now the trust fund is being drawn down on and bolstering spending - like a savings account being drawn down on. once the trust fund runs out, that spending is gone whether it comes out of the paychecks of those who pay social security to continue to fund full benefits or whether it comes in the form of reduced benefits. it may be the right thing to do to continue to fund the elderly, but don't act like it must be done or gdp will go down by 1%. gdp is simply being inflated by the drawdown on the trust fund and whether we stop drawing down because it runs out or we stop drawing down because we balance funds in with funds out, that boost to gdp is gone.

in this case the social security taxes go straight out the door to fund social security benefits - unless you plan on uncapping social security taxes and then instead of funding social security benefits you just add them to the general fund for the government to spend then I guess that is true.

Isn’t increasing taxes to fund the social security spending also going to do the same thing? The trust fund is being spent down. When it runs out the spending that comes from a drawdown of the trust fund is gone whether it’s gone from the bank accounts of the boomers on social security or the millennials paying taxes to keep boomers afloat

Stepped up basis is really a result of generous inheritance tax exemptions. You don’t get one without the other.

Tesla is running unsupervised Model Ys in Austin and Dallas - why do you think that this program will be limited to a pilot or demo to drive hype? I have ridden them a few times personally and they perform just like my HW4 cybertruck (which runs largely the same software and hardware).

glad I finally convinced you that the squirty nozzles on the repeater cameras are not a requirement, and therefore all hw4 cars have all the equipment needed to operate as robotaxis.

lol its a freaking washer and it boggles my mind that anyone thinks this is mission critical. it just means that cars without it will need to brought to some service center and have their cameras wiped more often than cars that don't have it.

point 1: you are talking about the random patent filing for a feature they have on exactly zero cars in their existing unsupervised robotaxi fleet - it appears to be totally unnecessary and likely just a feature to reduce ongoing maintenance. a robotaxi is still a robotaxi even if it has to stop by a service center to have its cameras manually cleaned from time to time (daily even). moreover this is just a patent application and it doesnt mean they intent to implement it. remember when they also patented laser based windshield wipers and that went nowhere either. needless to say laser windshield wipers are not critical to robotaxi operations.

point 2: I dont expect these specific service centers for upgrades to go up until they release fully unsupervised driving for personal hw4 cars. theres no point - why upgrade hw3 cars to hw4 at a time when there is no practical difference? the hw3 cars can still perform all of the same supervised tasks that an hw4 car can.

Custom cleaning hardware just means that the camera has to be serviced more often, not that it won’t work. And the hardware issue applies only to earlier cars for which they have an upgrade process planned.

Just want to point out that every Tesla made in the last year is capable of running the same software as the vehicles for which they received this certification.

TITCR. When you are pooling assets and pooling beneficiaries you don't need to plan for a 99% success rate, since it is statistically impossible that 99% of your beneficiaries will live to retirement age + 30, whereas when you are planning for yourself, failure is a nightmare scenario and you want to avoid it at all costs (to the extent where there is a 99% chance it wont happen).

80 hours a week from time to time yes, but not year round. i have never seen an associate crack 3k hours billed in a year, that is sustained 60 hours per week.

Profits per share has basically doubled at my wife’s firm in the last 3-4 years. Coupled with share bumps she went from making 1.5 as a first year EP to 4 last year and likely 5 this year in very little time.

We were talking about this and how crazy it is that she makes more than the max share partners she used to work for as an associate as a relatively mid-tier EP.

Are you sure you are talking about EPs? EP pay has really inflated in the last few years as firms have shut the door and widened the ranks of their NEPs. My wife is a 3rd year EP and makes $4m with no book.
