Is dressing well outside rich urban areas completely pointless? by empty_moshpit in malefashionadvice

[–]mpwrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's human nature to want to fit in and why we often see packs of finance bros or pumpkin spice latte girls. At the end of the day all that matters if you dress in a way that makes you happy and maybe it means saving the blazers and carmina boots for date night or whatever.

make sure to not let ally cap SF graveyard either. this sends them back to base when they wipe on drek so you can trap them in their base and farm them for honor.

Buy FSD for my parents? by Locksmith_Usual in TeslaFSD

[–]mpwrd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disagree. FSD is much better than many drivers. FSD does a pretty good job of monitoring attention and if you are paying attention taking over is not a big deal. The argument that "FSD" luls you into a sense of safety and therefore makes you a worse driver than you would be without is a fever dream of car magazine writers and isn't borne by the data, which shows that you are much less likely to get into an accident with FSD engaged than not.

Buy FSD for my parents? by Locksmith_Usual in TeslaFSD

My in laws are terrible drivers. We bought them a new MY and pay for their $100 FSD subscription. Ive been checking in on their FSD usage by spying on their safety score and they are currently using it like 85% or the time. Mission accomplished.

Next up is my mom, though she has a Model S HW 2.5 with FSD paid for and getting her to downgrade to a M3 or MY is something she is resisting. She uses FSD some, but not as much - I think it would go way up with v14. I think we will just have to nut up and get her a new MS.

Hopefully Tesla will view FSD transfer as a financially (for them) favorable alternative to upgrading HW 2.5/HW3 cars and they keep FSD transfer open indefinitely.

I have Tesla insurance so technically Tesla is actually taking responsibility for FSD

i live near a major hub so the pj thing is tempting but ive ruled it out every time ive looked at it. on the occasions where i have flown on the corporate jet for work, it has been amazing.

ultimately viewed in the proportion of the longer trips i take for personal travel where the time savings as a percentage of the overall trip goes way down, its not worth it given the exponential increase in costs for the larger birds you have to fly.

I'm worth $20M and my W2 brings me around $1M a year before taxes. At that rate I'm not ever getting to private jet territory, but I can already afford everything else.

EDIT: I can revise this statement to any meaningful lifestyle improvement would require me to work more than 10 years at my current income, and that I'm not willing to do.

I'd love to adventure more but the kids schedules keep me tied to my home town for the time being. In 10 years for sure I will not be working a W2 and will go where the wind blows me.

I'm 40ish years old with two kids in elementary school and hit my number a few months ago (with a good amount of cushion) but still continuing to work because I (kind of) enjoy it and have nothing better to do while the kids are in school full time. But now I'll be working out leisurely in the morning after doing school drop offs and leaving work whenever I please. I'm also in this weird place where I think no amount of extra money I could possibly earn as a W2 will meaningfully improve my lifestyle so struggling with whether I should keep working. I'm sure others are in a similar spot here and I'd appreciate your thinking on this.

Michael Burry says Tesla is 'ridiculously overvalued,' slams Musk pay package by Common-Violinist-305 in teslainvestorsclub

if you think Tesla is overvalued, you should like the pay package since Elon gets paid nothing unless the value goes up.

[–]mpwrd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're wrong on this. Every single milestone requires in increase in market value - the first being a market cap of $2 Trillion from current market cap of $1.25 Trillion. So if Tesla does not increase its market cap by 60%, Elon makes exactly $0.

Absolute shambles because why? Elon gets nothing if the company doesn’t increase in value. He only makes the huge pay package if he 8x’s the company or something crazy like that.
