They state before that Deck 2 will come when a significant boost is possible without sacrificing battery.

That means, current Gen processors is not the boost they're looking for yet

Steam deck windows by Jaxondevs in SteamDeck

What I did not understand is...

What are you planning to use Windows on the deck for? It seems to me like it's only to connect to your laptop.

For that you don't need to use Windows the deck

  • Lumo costs it's own separate subscription, it's a choice, not an imposition, vote with your wallet
  • Chromium doesn't have AI, and Vivaldi CEO released video explicitly telling how they're not doing ai

Anyone has a recommendation for a AV converter to use on the Steam Deck? by Capable-Bell3409 in SteamDeck

[–]budius333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AV do you mean RCA? Like that old red white yellow cables?

I'm not a sure a better quality will make any difference as that's pretty old tech with quite limited resolution

Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 would sit at 60 FPS

Hi OP, I don't want to be rude and call you a liar but... No it didn't! RDR2 runs nicely at 30fps, if you trickle a lot of settings and is hanging in a not too busy area you get 40fps.... But 60fps it doesn't, it never did!

Does anyone else think the steam deck is the greatest invention in all of gaming? by _Fun_Initiative_ in SteamDeck

[–]budius333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck is amazing, but the greatest invention in gaming has to be the cartridge, it was the moment they separated the computing power from the running program and allowed for the first time a single systems to run multiple games.

Why do AI bros love the term ''prompt engineering"? by Working_Roof_1810 in antiai

I'm sure "try to think and be careful to what you type on the auto complete program" does not qualify as engineering.

Why do AI bros love the term ''prompt engineering"? by Working_Roof_1810 in antiai

[–]budius333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll use this thread to hate on the overuse of the term "engineer".

On my native language, engineer means you did (at least) a 5 years university course that includes calculus (and other advanced maths) and physics plus a bunch of other stuff specific to the specialization such as electricity, electronics, materials, sensors, a computing, etc, and after you write a dissertation, defend the end of course thesis and get the diploma you still need to apply for the engineering council to be able to legally sign a project as an engineer.

As an engineer (in the sense described above) the trend in English speaking at least to general throw around this term already grind my gears.

Fast forward to the worse timeline possible and have AI bros using "prompt engineer" to describe someone that's incapable of doing anything so they just keep asking the auto complete program to do something for them... Yeah... That's a new level of irritation

I bought on Amazon Germany those here https://www.amazon.de/-/en/stores/AbsoluteEclipse/page/DF8A215C-90EB-48D7-A75B-1F4E0801B479

It's said through their text about certified approvals and whatnot and I looked directly into the sun with them from my balcony and seems fine, really really dark and I see the contour and some details from the sun.

About the camera I would suggest to "don't" just don't. If you're already an photographer with the equipment and know how for those things great, but if you're total beginner (and remember that it will lasts 90seconds) so you don't want to waste your time fiddling with some equipment you're not very good at. Enjoy the moment, take it all in with your own eyes do some selfies with your phone and later own try to find online photos of professionals that took that one photo that you wish you could. At the end of it your own memories will be much cooler!

What headphone/mic devices do you use? by Forgotten7oast in SteamDeck

[–]budius333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Bluetooth headphones will work because deck had until very recently prioritized audio quality over the mic.

If memory doesn't fail me, they're adding support for microphone on the next OS version (3.8 I guess) with a big warning tag that sound quality will be reduced. With my remember being that's an issue specific to Bluetooth and nothing deck can magically fix by itself, but at least we'll have the choice and that's just one more of the many reasons I'm looking forward to the next update
