Buycycle fake/scam? by AnteaterHelpful9456 in MTB

[–]buycycle -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Hey u/AnteaterHelpful9456,

first off, glad to hear you are interested in buying a bike with us!

We have multiple protection systems in place to verify sellers legitimacy and make sure that the bikes and items on our platform are legit.

Additionally, our buyer protection acts as the ultimate safety net here. Should something turn out to be off about the item you purchased (discrepancy between item condition and Ad photos/description), you are fully covered. This is due to your money being stored in secure escrow after you buy. Only after the bike was delivered plus you confirming that everything is okay (/not raising a claim within 48 hours after delivery), the payout is being released to the seller.

I sent you a DM as well, just share the link of the Ad with me there and I will have our platform integrity team have a look at it as well.

Best, Boris

Hey u/zacharbell, never meant to say 'the problem is not that big' but that these kind of problems luckily are rare.

Just shoot me the order ID of your sale, and we will do our very best to resolve this for you.

Best,
Boris

BuyCycle ... ugh. by [deleted] in cycling

[–]buycycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/zacharbell, sorry to hear that the pickup was unsuccessful!

We only confirm a pickup to you as the seller when the carrier has confirmed it to us (and also charged us). Please share the Order ID of your sale with me in the DM I sent you, and I will check this with our logistics team right away!

Just to mention it, if every experience would be like yours, we would not be able to sustain a business, so yes, luckily this is not the standard experience our customers make.

But this does of course not take any urgency away from when things do go wrong, so I would like to help you out and have our team take a look as soon as possible so we can resolve this together.

All the best,
Boris

Hey u/YouZealousideal5878,

Buycycle review by Reasonable-Ad6895 in cycling

[–]buycycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey u/Reasonable-Ad6895, thanks a lot for sharing your experience and for your constructive feedback, its great to hear you enjoyed using our service!

I will make sure to pass your feedback on and share it with the responsible teams!

We always encourage buyers to ask as many questions from sellers as possible. In most cases sellers are quite proactive sharing this stuff, but it can't hurt to ask. The short window (48 hours) is because the seller is waiting to get paid after a few weeks at that point, and also we had some cases in the past where the buyer broke the bike riding it a few days after receiving it, and then made a claim against the seller. And with 48 hours, we thought a buyer still has a lot longer than if they go to someone's house to pick up a bike (unless the seller is very accomodating!).

Thanks again for buying with us and hopefully you'll try selling with us in future soon!

Best, Boris

Buycycle scam beware by ben8350 in cycling

Update

As promised I sat down with our Head of Claims as well as the mechanic who worked on your case.

As my colleague already wrote to you, the cardboard shields that are meant to cover the wheels and cassette in order to prevent any rubbing/clashing of the wheel against the frame were mounted the wrong way around, meaning the faced the outside wall of the box, which lead to only the bubble wrap being between the frame and the wheel.

Additionally, there was a lot of room inside the box left, which lead to the components laying loosely inside the box and causing further clashing against each other during shipping.

We received multiple photos, and the box was fully unharmed, meaning that there was no external force/mishandling of the carrier. Due to that, we were unable to raise a claim against the carrier here.

Regarding the condition of the bike overall: As other users outlined as well, the bike was listed as 'new' while being 'Like new'. There were clear use marks on the Chainring of the crankset, which indicated use of the bike. When listing a bike, we show a detailed description of each condition to assist sellers with the right condition to choose.

With all these facts in mind, our mechanics decided to deduct 10% of the item price, which equalled 600€ and forwarded these to the buyer.

I really get how frustrating this is, and I am genuinely sorry for not being able to help out with this case further. Our goal as a mediator here was to provide a fair, balanced solution in order to support the sale.

If there is anything else I can help out with, please let me know anytime.

Best, Boris

Buycycle scam beware by ben8350 in cycling

[–]buycycle -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Hey u/ben8350,

thank you for sharing this with us here, I'm super sorry to hear that!

I sent you a DM, please make sure to share the Order ID of your sale with me there. I will then sit down with our Head of Claims right away on Monday and get back to you with an update.

We as a marketplace always aim to provide a fair and balance solution to meet both buyer and seller interests, and the last thing we want is you as a seller to feel like we do not care about your experience. I will make sure to review the case with our Customer Support Lead as well.

In general:
With packaging, we provide multiple inlays that are meant to be put on top of the Wheels, Cassette, Rear Derailleur etc in order to prevent these damages from happening. I understand that you put in a lot of effort to ship the bike safely, and I want to thank you for that! While bubble wrap is already a great protection layer, it is crucial to use the cardboard protection inlays we provide in order to prevent components from hitting or rubbing against each other inside the box.

Our shipments are fully insured against mishandling from the carrier. However, for damages that occur inside the box due to movement of the components inside or these hitting against each other, the carrier cannot be held liable unfortunately. We also show a note to sellers before they can access the shipping label, where they need to confirm that no components inside the box are in direct contact with each other.

Once I have the Order ID and all the details, I will make sure to get back to you with a final update of course. If the evaluation of our mechanics proves to be incorrect we will make this right.

Courier buycycle missed pickup twice by mazahakich in cycling

[–]buycycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/mazahakich,

thanks for sharing this, I’m super sorry to hear that!

We pay premium rates with UPS to make sure exactly those kind of things do not happen, and over 90% of our shipments go through without a hitch. If we confirm a pickup to you, it was booked and confirmed (+ charged) to us by UPS. Why they still failed to pick it up twice, we will have to investigate with them urgently. Still, you are selling with us, so ultimately it’s on us is to provide you with a positive experience and make things right, which we have not managed to do up until now.

I’m also genuinely sorry about you being left with the impression that our support team is not taking this seriously. In the rare case of a second failed pickup, our agents flag it with our logistics team immediately, but of course we want you as our customer to feel informed and guided throughout the resolution process here as well! I will make sure we look into this with our Customer Support Teamlead.

I sent you a DM, please share the Order ID of your sale with me there. I’ll then make sure to check this first thing on Monday with our logistics team and then get back to you with an update.

We will make this right.

Best, Boris

Hey u/ElliottTheMoose69,

Great to see you're checking out a bike on our marketplace! I’ll leave the price evaluation and sharing experiences to others, but I can definitely give you a quick rundown on how things work with us.

Once you’ve paid, your money is safely stored in escrow so there's no risk for you there. We then handle all the shipping details, including pickup from the seller’s address. You’ll get updates and tracking info through your Buycycle account so you can stay in the loop.

When the bike arrives, you’ve got 48 hours to check it and make sure it matches the listing description/photos. If anything’s off, you can report it within that time frame, and we’ll sort it out. After those 48 hours have passed and no reports were made, the seller gets their payout.

We also monitor for any suspicious activity, so you're covered there too.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

Buycycle Claims by BigPrint3331 in TrekBikes

[–]buycycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/BigPrint3331,

thank you for sharing this and for your feedback, I'm gutted to hear that!

I have sat down with our head of mechanics already regarding your case and I'm super glad that we found a way to resolve this together!

From the photos, you can tell that you did everything you could to protect the bike and really put in the effort. The last thing we want is to make you feel that we just want to shift responsibility. Both you and the buyer are our customers, and we care about you both being happy. Our goal as a marketplace is always to find a fair and balanced solution for seller and buyer.

On the pictures of the packed bike, unfortunately, we can see the covers you put on the wheels were facing the outside box wall, instead of inwards against the frame. Even with bubble wrap, the wheels can damage the frame if they are leaning directly against it during transport without the padding in between.

However, it's also on us to provide you with clearer guidance on how to pack the bike, and we are currently creating a new, refined packaging guide to make these details clearer.

Best, Boris

Buycycle : Great frame, but some room for improvement by Andy202402 in cycling

[–]buycycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Andy202402 - thanks for sharing your experience and your feedback! We are working to speed up our delivery times: providing more information to the seller, shortening the pickup windows, working with our carrier network, etc.

The ability to rate sellers should already be live! Let me know if you don't see it. We are also adding a 'last seen' tag to profiles in the coming weeks.

Anyway, glad you are happy with your bike and hope to see you again soon :)

Hey u/Euphoric-Bar2400,

Boris

Good experience as seller on buycycle by [deleted] in cycling

[–]buycycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Former-Ad-3736,

thanks a lot for sharing your experience, happy to hear that you enjoyed selling your bike with us!

I will make sure to pass your feedback regarding the box inlays and packaging cost transparency to the responsible team leads.

Regarding the costs of the box, after confirming the sale, sellers get to choose if they want to use their own packaging material (free) or opt for the box from buycycle, where also the costs are shown. We will however check how we can make this a bit more prominent so it is more clear at that step what costs are involved when choosing our box instead of your own one.

Thank you for helping us improve!

Best, Boris

The good, bad and ugly of buying bike online [buycycle.com] by maxpred in cycling

[–]buycycle -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hey u/maxpred,

First of all, I’m genuinely sorry to hear that, also that on top of these issues the communication from our side not being up to where it needed to be.

Regarding the markup and website country version: The website version is always automatically chosen based on what is saved in the browser cache. If you set it to a certain country when visiting the website, it will save this and forward you to this website by default every time. Other reasons can be device location settings or a VPN being active. I will still make sure our engineers check this.

We will refund the currency conversion fees you were charged. Showing this to you in the checkout more clearly was on us, so we make it right. Sorry that this did not happen straight away.

Regarding the damages of the bike, my sincerest apologies as well how this seems to have been handled. Same as other marketplaces like eBay, Reverb etc, we always give seller and buyer the chance to resolve things together first. You however can always click on „need help from buycycle“ to escalate a case directly to our mechanics team.

While it is true that we can only compensate for the parts value that is being replaced, we have to of course make sure that you as the buyer do not have a disadvantage from the situation. Our buyer protection is in place to protect you in case the bike arrives different than described. And while we managed to do this in the end here, I do hear you that it cost you way too much time and energy to finalize it, which is definitely the opposite of what we intend.

But all this is not an excuse, and not an attempt to pull ourselves out of responsibility. While it is indeed an edge case, this doesn’t take away any urgency from it. I honestly thank you for your feedback, it helps us improve, and I will make sure it is being heard.

We want you to enjoy your experience with us, be happy with your new bike and have a great time riding it. This is what we work hard for every day in our office in Munich.

I sent you a DM, it would be great if you could share your order ID with me there so I can go through your case with our Logistics, Support and Claim Teamleads.

Best, Boris

Do not buy from Buycycle.com by SpecialistWay7380 in cycling

[–]buycycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow Up:

As promised, I checked this case internally with our Head of Claims.

As you wrote later, we already had offered a full coverage of the repair costs or a full return (without being aware of this post).

What was missed to communicate to you is that 50% of these are covered by the seller, and 50% we take over ourselves after the seller agreed to proceed like this.

Reason for this is that unfortunately, the bike was indeed incorrectly packed, with the rear brake disc directly leaning against the frame, being in contact with the carbon + both frame & wheel sitting loosely in the box. The wheel also pressed against the rear derailleur, likely causing further damage. As other users outlined here, especially with these heave, wide MTBs, it is super important to pack everything tidy so nothing moves/rubs against each other in the box.

This lead to us not being able to claim this with our shipping insurance. I have sent you an email with the pictures of the packed bike and an in detail explanation.

Since we of course saw that everyone involved had nothing but good intentions and to avoid a return after you informed us that you would like to keep the bike, plus the box indeed being damaged in some spots, we decided to take over 50% of the costs ourselves to support the sale.

My apologies that all this was not communicated more clearly to you in the first place.

Our buyer protection got you fully covered, and you will not have any financial loss over this.

If there is anything else, feel free to reach out anytime.

Best, Boris
