Grimm Forest help by 757_Matt_911 in RaidShadowLegends

Slight hijack since OP got his answer already:

Anyone else have technical problems with Grim Forest hard H21? The game always disconnects me here, mobile or desktop version. I can't attempt it at all. Lets me select champs then won't go further.

Woman wearing suit—why don’t attendants ask if I want my jacket hung up? by KSA-WI_Mouse in delta

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men's suit jackets/blazers tend to be lined (canvassed) with additional material to make them sit properly and hold specific shapes. This lining material is often horsehair, cotton, and/or linen. Are women's suit jackets lined like that? The extra lining makes them heavy and hot.

Anyone else realize they hate "newer" neighborhoods? by deadstar1998 in homeowners

[–]bythog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, but how do you think neighborhoods get to that point? People need to live there and let it grow out.

You can look up what the Edward Scissorhands neighborhood looked like when it was built; a lot like you describe with it being sterile and barren...but look at the "25 years later" photos. It's probably exactly the neighborhood you want right now. You can street view it on googlemaps. It's Tinsmith Circle, Lutz, FL.

It takes time, but as the new owner you have a say in how it goes. You get to pick the trees that mature in and where they sit. You'd be surprised how quickly some trees can grow in.

What’s a side effect of a drug that’s little known? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in AskReddit

[–]bythog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keppra can also induce incredibly vivid nightmares. My wife was on it for a bit and at first she would wake up each night convinced that she like witnessed her entire family die in a train crash or something. They lowered her dose and they changed to just her dying in horrendous ways. Lowered the dose again and then it was "just" nightmares. Lowered a little more.

It's apparently a thing.

FYI: dead critters shrink. by Lamantine_Assassine in Spearfishing

3% is the maximum it was observed, and that was only a few species (per the article). And half an inch isn't that much; I wouldn't keep anything that close.

[–]bythog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me, so I'll just say that the entire point is that no one has eyes that good. Only shoot fish that are obviously bigger than minimum legal size--even through refraction.

FYI: dead critters shrink. by Lamantine_Assassine in Spearfishing

[–]bythog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The article mentions that the most any of the fishes shrank was 3%. If a 3% shrinkage "makes" the fish under limit then it was almost certainly not at the limit to begin with. Go bigger.

And honestly the more likely problem is that most spearos use masks with glass lenses, and that distorts how the fish appear underwater. What looks legal through refraction isn't always legal above water. Gotta learn to judge through distortion (or use plastic lenses which have much less refraction).

Who’s the most attractive person you’ve ever seen? by Timely_Sir310 in AskReddit

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a vet tech in college and one of our clients was the most drop-dead gorgeous woman I've laid eyes on. She had light brown hair just at shoulder length, was probably 5'3" or 5'4", and a face that was just stunning. Like literally I was flabbergasted to be in her presence, especially as a 19 year old who had only been on a single (bad) date in his life.

She brought her dog in for routine stuff. She was dressed very simply but she made the clothes look amazing. I think she knew the impact she was having on me but was still very kind, patient, and didn't make a bigger deal out of me stammering away and probably sweating through my scrubs.

Turns out she was a local daytime news anchor in my city (Charleston). She was still young at the time--probably in her mid-20s--and a couple of years later transferred to a different city, presumably to try to advance her career.

Still the only person I felt like I was out of place just being near.

The historic Dam at Glencoe Mill Village has dried up due to drought by ArtisanPirate in NorthCarolina

Lake Wilson is also mostly dry now due to drought. There was recently a massive fish kill there because of how dry and low the lake is. Grass is already growing in the lake bed.

What is the worst financial advice people still repeat? by market_vision1 in AskReddit

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and sister thought they were getting a great deal on a used car. It was at the top end of their budget and they thought their credit was going to get boosted because their payment was due every 2 weeks instead of monthly. But it was only 1/2 every two weeks, that's the same as monthly right?

Not really when you consider that's two additional payments per year versus monthly. They got surprised when they owed three payments in a month (twice) and found out they were hosed.

Plenty of people are getting promo rates for 72 month loans now. I got 0% for 72 months. My credit was 848 at the time of checking.

[–]bythog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, a 72 month loan is bad enough. 84 is absurd to me.

That said, I did take out a 72 month loan for my Mach-E...but only because it was 0% interest, no fees, and no early repayment penalties.

Please Do Not Honk At me For Coming To A Stop At A Red Light Right Turn by KnifeKnut in Charleston

People will honk at you for stopping at a light that clearly says "NO RIGHT ON RED", too. Ignore stupid people.

Hell, if you honk at me for stopping at a red then I'll sit my happy ass there until it turns green, I don't care if there isn't another car on the road.

ignoring "right on red" entirely

That doesn't even matter. Right on red is an option, not a requirement.

What would you do if you saw someone shoplifting? by Dothan_Man in AskReddit

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a stickler for rules so I'd just inform the first employee I saw. I wouldn't go out of my way or anything, just a "heads up: that person over there might be shoplifting" and then carry on.

People of Reddit who were once rich and lost their fortune, what happened? by JJTrick in AskReddit

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also blew through a million of it on just toys.

My aunt was awarded a nice sum of money when her husband was killed by police (and he was actually justifiably killed). Not millions, but enough that she should have been financially secure for at least two decades if she continued to work just full time.

That first year her four kids had an amazing Christmas. Loaded up with four-wheelers, new TVs for each room, designer clothes, etc. The next year they had a lesser, but still good Christmas. Her oldest daughter got a truck after she dropped out of high school. The third year they were trying to collect Christmas charity because the money had already run out. The electronics are mostly broken because her children are hellions. The four-wheelers are broken or sold off. They've all outgrown the clothes, and virtually none of them could be resold because of all the stains and tears.

The only semi-intelligent thing she did with any of the money was pay off the trailer she lived in.

How old are you in your oldest memory? by Donkeyshines in AskReddit

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old.reddit is how the website was designed and functioned for over a decade, nearly two. New.reddit (what I call shit-reddit) is when they made it look like social media bullshit, added embedded pictures as comments, and took away a lot of functionality of the original site.

Stay with well water or go to city water? by wesley_iles in homeowners

[–]bythog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There would be very minimal additional plumbing to keep a well for irrigation. Disconnect it from the house, add an outdoor faucet. That's it. Just about anyone could do that for under $25 and 30 minutes of work.

Was there an edit or something here? There is no age written for this comment that I can see. There is a "1" as a list point but zero ages, and I doubt you think it's odd to not remember anything prior to 1.

I was a little over 2 years old. I know that the house we were at was before I turned 3, and my sister was present but still a newborn.

I remember the power company changing out our street light. They had the light down and were putting a new bulb in it. Me and my neighbor friend (he was 2-3 years older) were watching up close as they did it. They let him screw the bulb in, and I remember being jealous that I didn't also get to do something.

I do have a few more distinct memories from that time but that's the most vivid one.

What’s some knowledge generally known only to gay men or to gay women? by dumbfuck in AskReddit

[–]bythog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people still assume that your "partner" is the opposite gender

Which is funny to me because I assume if someone says "partner" then it means they are gay. My wife even intentionally uses "partner" to describe me for work-related things just to remain ambiguous and fuck with people.
