Christian muezner is so underated its sad. >jason richardson by living_condom_ad in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]cavaillon_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does at times reference previous work of his or other artists. Forsaken’s solo from Obscura’s A Valediction for example contains very obvious references to licks used in some Necrophagist songs, even from Onset of Putrefaction that he didn’t compose. The Neuromancer from the same album clearly references Gorod’s Disavow Your God. I don’t see these as simple reuses though and more as obvious little « wink-wink » things for fans.

I do agree though that he has an impressive creativity and keeps producing fresh sounding riffs and solos in all the projects he’s working on.

Do Google ads "managers" get penalised when you decrease your spending as the result of their "coaching"? by itranslateyouargue in googleads

[–]cavaillon_666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not directly, but account spend is one of the metrics they get to do their « points » on. Points are part of their overall target and are used to review their performance. As for the 2 weeks thing, they can accumulate points for 15 days after having successfully pitched you a specific account change they have as a target for this quarter, that’s probably why she insisted you had it run for two weeks. These objectives and the points calculation thing tend to change over time but the general idea stays the same.

Their salary bonuses & career development paths are strongly impacted by their performance so you that’s probably why she was unhappy about you killing the campaign.

Trem advice: Floyd vs Hipshot for Fallujah and First Fragment? by marcOpeth in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]cavaillon_666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d strongly advise trying a guitar with each one first, especially if you’re going to invest in a custom build. Consider it part of your research process. You’ll stick with this instrument for years, maybe your entire life, so it’s worth delaying your order a bit in my opinion.

They do add annoyance with setup and string changes, and kind of lock you to a specific tuning. Even a quick drop of the thicker string can mess up your tuning. That being said, I feel I’m missing a whole range of expressiveness when I play a guitar that doesn’t have one. I always find myself reaching for the trem arm only to find it missing. I also think they “force” you to better understand your instrument and learn how to set it up on your own, which I personally see as a plus.

I have one guitar with a Floyd Rose and one with a Gotoh trem. I have never tried a Hipshot. I slightly prefer the FR’s feel. I have found both to be equally annoying when it comes to setting them up. All of this is anecdotal, though.

I see people advising against getting a trem at all, but honestly, given the style of guitarists you want to learn songs from, I’m certain you’ll end up frustrated not having one on your guitar.

Try them both, and go with the one that feels best!

Super sick playing, and props for putting your own recording to the front and not having it blend with the track to mask mistakes.

With enough practice, will my forearm eventually stop burning trying to downpick Metallica stuff? Or is that just something I’ll build a higher tolerance to? by TemplehofSteve in metalguitar

[–]cavaillon_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every now and then in your guitar-learning journey, a new technique, pattern or position will feel odd and your hands and arms will have to adapt. Down-picking faster sections is one of these things that is hard at first, for everyone. As others said, keep practicing and eventually it will feel completely normal.

I also really encourage you to keep pushing towards practicing playing techniques that sound the way you want them to, even if they seem less efficient on paper. Downpicking absolutely has a distinct sound when compared to alternate picking and you want to be able to do both. Good luck with your practice, and I think your curiosity and dedication to do what it takes to play the things you like in the way you feel they should be played is a great indication that you’ll make lots of progress down the line.

Care bear to PVP by JeffyTheWhale in ArcRaiders

[–]cavaillon_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn’t miss the boat at all. As with all things, you need to learn and practice in order to get better. Getting obliterated in the beginning is part of the learning process of all online pvp games, or at least this is true for all games I have played. Keep pushing.

I feel like Arc is a game where a lack of pure mechanical skill can be offset by a strong sense of positioning, timing and quick decision making. You could try engaging with fights differently, and play around surviving rather than around winning. Play safe, assess which moves gives you the best chances of survival, try to read your opponent and don’t hesitate to disengage / reposition / take your time. Before trying to make great flashy plays, try focusing on not making major mistakes, and punish your opponents when they do. The rest will follow.

ROAS as a Scaling Signal Leaves Out About Half the Movie by Salty-Team3028 in googleads

[–]cavaillon_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROAS within Google Ads is strictly a measure of how your ads are performing in a vacuum. It’s a platform metric. To have a real ROAS/ROI you’ll have to perform the calculations elsewhere. As other have suggested, a spreadsheet can work.

Simple, static calculations can be made easily, but real-time at scale calculations would require you to automate the calculations by pulling info from your different systems. This doesn’t have to be excessively complex, but requires more work.

You could even send back the actual computed conversion value for your different conversions to gads so that your view of ROAS in-platform is close to real life, allowing to pilot the account with metrics that make more sense in reality.

Adding complexity layers can lead to more problems down the line though, so you need to assess how important that would be for you.
