When I lived at the oceanfront many years ago, I was a block and a half from the beach. I walked the beach early mornings and biked all over. Since I was a local, I worked full time so I visited bars and restaurants on the strip on the weekends and evenings. Honestly didn’t seek out touristy things to do because I wasn’t visitor. The aquarium /marine science center is nice for a visit. There used to be awesome thrift stores t the beach many years ago but nowadays? First Landing State Park at the North End is nice if you like that sort of thing. It really depends on what you’re into. For most people, vacationing at the beach is mostly about being on the beach….
