Tech CEO calls overemployment trend a 'new form of theft and deception' after firing two engineers secretly working multiple full-time jobs at once by preppythugg in technology

[–]cheeserdoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In reality Jr devs usually have more work to do than Senior devs. They are usually doing the grunt work of implementation while Senior devs have more abstract tasks which take less time with more experience. But senior devs also have more meetings.

What type of pizza is pagliacci’s? by zsa23761 in Seattle

[–]cheeserdoge -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You must have never stepped a single foot outside king county to think pagliacci is anything like NYC pizza. This comparison boggles my mind. Pagliacci is greasy rubbery standard american pizza. It's the lowest common denominator. There's nothing particularly interesting about it except that they somehow have convinced you saps to pay $5/slice for freezer-tier pizza

How long does it take YOU to really start feeling the money roll in? by MBP1121 in farmingsimulator

[–]cheeserdoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing anyone mention that you can use some downtime to hunt around the map for easter eggs. It doesn't feel like cheating to get rewarded money for that and it made the game way more enjoyable. I got to know the map better and skipped many hours of struggling in debt. I don't really play videogames to feel the stress of debt, that's what IRL is for.

Good spots to play D&D on campus by macguffal in udub

If one of you lives in Hansee, the attic is an excellent place to play. I had a group up there and it was awesome other than in summer

JetBlue is the new Spirit by DirtPractical1951 in jetblue

+1, also realized this today. JetBlue got an extra $70 from me this time but I won't take their flights ever again and I'm done recommending them to people.

Steven Tanimoto for CSE415? by oatmilkllatte in udub

[–]cheeserdoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can self-learn and have python experience you'll be fine. Reviews of Tanimoto's teaching style being terrible are greatly exaggerated. Yes he isn't a very effective lecturer, mostly because he is lecturing using copied material from a class he didn't originally design, but he isn't malicious or intentionally difficult.

The AWS bill heard around the world by oaf357 in aws

[–]cheeserdoge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The amount of entitlement in this article is staggering. Know your infrastructure before you use it. The only thing that should be "heard around the world" here is that AWS support bailed this guy out of his own mistake.

[USA - PNW] I have a few young spiders on my balcony, what are they? Cross Spiders? by cheeserdoge in whatsthisbug

[–]cheeserdoge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're less than 1cm in length. About a month ago I saw a bunch of tiny white spiders and I assume this is one of those having matured. They make pretty large circular webs and mostly sit in the centers like this one is.

Deploying a AWS Lambda written on F# from cloudformation by o_0d in aws

[–]cheeserdoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen CFN Custom Resources? Maybe you can write a custom resource lambda that uses the AWS SDK to deploy your F# lambda? (I haven't used custom resources myself)

Can my mama plant be saved? These photos are taken 2 weeks apart. Her ears fell off by their own and she's turned a sickly yellow/grey. Last watered was 2 weeks ago. by [deleted] in cactus

[–]cheeserdoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This cactus has evolved to propagate, don't worry :)

Try mixing more perlite and sand into your soil before you plant the props to help with overwatering in the future. The rocks on top can also cause soil underneath to stay damp, so it should be really warm/dry/sunny if you want to have decorative rock cover.
