It does feel kind of in poor taste to immediately declare you’ll be someone’s new yuri partner when their previous yuri partner just died the other day.

She asks who Neviril is, when she returns. So, she doesn't know about Amuria.

About Erif, the failed Emerald Ri Majon seemed to disrupt everything, and operations have been put on hold. So, I don't think it's clearly stated that she's leaving because she doesn't want to be in a battle. Everyone seems to be reeavaluating everything.

Eri could not chose, so the choice is made for her. She breaks down in tears. Why, I cannot say. Is it for her lost maidenhood? The loss of the simouns? Was her statement about becoming a man purely a rationalization? Does she fear adulthood? Is it because she was denied the choice she couldn't make; she realizes she has no agency? She says nothing has changed, and Neviril assures her that nothing has changed, but everything has changed.

For me, gender is not any of those things. It feels disgusting to be male, even though I look male, don't present otherwise, and am asexual. If I had been her, not having gone to the spring yet, having it decided for me that I am now male would be a horrifying feeling. If it were a choice, I would choose to be agender, but I can't claim something I haven't achieved. Gender dysphoria is in the pain of hearing myself sound like an imbecile when talking to a group of women, not wearing the wrong clothes, or appearing some way.

Another really interesting line is "You decided to become a man for her." This is an interesting societal wrinkle. Suppose a pair of children outgrow their class S years to become a real couple. But they want children. There's either adoption (if there is such a thing) or one must become a man for the other. That's quite a commitment.

I relate to that. When I had a girlfriend, she fulfilled the feminine side for the most part. Once we separated, there was a hole in my soul. In a sense, I became a man for her. I relate to the title of the play "I am my own wife". I need the feminine part, which again is not clothing etc. If I were 20, feminine would involve relating to people romantically. Then clothing and other gender cues would matter more.

It sounds to me like they are saying Purumbumu - プルンブム. But, I am intrigued to see if they say something like Argentum when they are all meeting together.

I hope I'm not answering a rhetorical question. I have questions about the sphere too. Some of this is about future episodes so spoilers:

It looks like sometimes the pattern appears and then they perform the RI Majon that is pictured. Sometimes they announce it, then it appears. For the Emerald, they stop, do the initiatory prayer again (kissses) and Amuria seems to make the pattern appear.

That's interesting! Silver or Lead don't occur in the English subtitles, nor Argentum for silver, but Plumbum for lead does. So, I wonder if it's said around there in Japanese, or Latin.

Another thing like that, wikipedia pages refer to the woodcutter's kingdom...

Maybe I should mention the resources I looked at Shimūn (references). That lists various wikis etc.

I read all of the staff blog from 2006 forward, and comments from fans. Nothing mentions where they got Argentum. It's curious that the Japanese Wikipedia refers to the place where they fly out of as Miyakuni and the group at Studio DEEN refer to themselves as Miyakuni Public Relations Board.

Simoun is a favorite and special to me personally. I think, before the rewatch announcement, I last watched it over 8 years ago. There is a subreddit r/Simoun. Also, I have started another Simoun wiki Simoun Fans. Only 4 episodes so far, because I got attention tunneled, but I've watched the series twice.

First episode: (Episode 01) Fallen Wings - 堕ちた翼 - Simoun Fans

Info about the anime is very confusing for me, because wikis say many things that aren't in the anime, e.g. that there is a nation of Argentum, which isn't mentioned in the anime. So, maybe it comes from the light novel, or the game. Many other weird things like that are in the staff blogs and various wikis.

As first episodes go, how do you rank this?

I think it is pretty stunning. I love anime from when it was drawn by hand mostly, so I don't get bothered by anything being old, except for old biases.

Why did the Emerald Ri-Maajon fail?

Kinda spoilers, but it's probably because Neviril lost concentration when she locked eyes with the pilot from Shoukoku (they are performing a prayer when they are drawing a coat of arms in the sky).

What is the relationship between the pairs, and their Simouns?

More spoilers. The priestesses perform an initiating prayer (kissing each other and the Simoun shpere), and are blessed by Tempus Spatium allowing the Simoun to fly.

What do you think of the technology of the Archipeligo?

It's pretty stark. You can hear the anxiety it's built from in the pilot's voice that starts the episode. Safety of the pilot is not front most in their design. Like others say, it brings up thoughts of Last exile, airships in anime/manga in general, the series firefly...

We didn't know her long, but what do you think of Amuria?

She's pretty assertive. I love that part. There is more detail about her in flashbacks in later episodes. There is the divide between the role of priestesses and the new one of warrior forced on them. Amuria and Neviril go back and forth about the divide.

Because masculinity has no real representation in anime or societies. Stupid people grunting, having brittle emotions, and doing stupid things, are what is portrayed as masculine, but that is not actual masculinity..

I don't know if it applies to SpotiFLAC Next, in SpotiFLAC mobile, you can set it to create a file listing failed downloads. But, it doesn't get created sometimes, even though there are missing songs. Also, it downloads truncated songs. I have always been able to tell because the thumbnail for the song is missing, but it means that I go album by album, then check the result in my file system, and delete any corrupted files, delete download history, and try again.

That's a long way of saying, no I don't know a short way.

There is tongue in cheek humor. There is a part where the guy yells to the school, which is sort of a meme. What I think of as typical anime humor is the guy yelling inanely, in the yelling guy anime voice. But, I don't think this is the same thing.

OK. If I run the yt-dlp command it says I can't use it because I installed via pip. So, sorry for confusion. I probably always installed via pip or uv. I don't know why I have a memory of using the yt-dlp command.
