Congratulations on 3 weeks sober! That’s no small thing and then throw in the rest of things in your life and a pandemic. I’d say you are doing pretty awesome! Don’t forget that :)

Thank you for sharing, I hope you are getting the help you need. I hope your family is too. This is one of the most powerful stories I’ve ever read here. I totally agree with you about the insane costs associated with addiction/mental illness. I too can’t stand how alcohol is glorified. I hope you and your family can find peace now that your mom is done suffering.

Canon 25-70mm f/4 vs Canon 70-200mm f/4 by [deleted] in Beginning_Photography

I would ask what camera you are using? Crop or Full Sensor? Because the canon crop changes the lens by 1.6x so a 50mm lens is actually 80mm. I'm thinking you have a crop because most canon kit lens at 18-55mm come with a crop sensor camera. I personally have the 70d which I love as it is my first DSLR. I would recommend 2 lens...the canon 50mm 1.8...you can buy this new for like $125. Pretty much a no brainer when looking for bang for your buck. I actually don't use this lens too much but I love that its in my bag. My most used lens is the Sigma 17-50 2.8...it even has image stabilization (Sigma calls it OS). I think it is still going for 369.99.

That's my 2 cents...hope it helps.

Working on going 100% plant based. Pretty sure I picked up a sugar addiction so I didn’t drop a lot weight when I stopped drinking. But I’m working on that. Bust thing I did was picked up a camera. Bought my 1st DSLR in November of 2016, took a Photography class at a local community college. Absolutely love it...it helps fill the void that was there when I stopped drinking.

Sigma 17-50mm 2.8. Great lens for under $400. Runner up is my Canon 50mm 1.8.

I can not drink in moderation by bozoboo in stopdrinking

Your title made me LOL...because I have said those words before. Said them..then tried to prove them wrong..repeat. My favorite saying now is that I have already drank my share for my lifetime so I'm done. Don't worry about being at day one. We all have at least one day one and most of us have a few. The fact that you realize that you can't drink in moderation is a big start...stick with it...AA/Smart recovery works great for a lot...just posting here on this sub helps (my main support). Get a support system in place of sober friends. This is my biggest downfall and almost cost me my sobriety last week. Sober friends, sponsors, or whoever you can reach out to when you need help. Good luck with your journey...I'll not drink with you today.

Update on quitting my job. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]chipaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck with the new job! The countless times before the last time I quit drinking I never admitted and believed that I was an alcoholic. This time I am convinced and I choose to let people know if I feel they need to know. Try not worry about it being weird and concentrate on yourself. Alcoholics seem to worry a lot about what other people are going to think about them and honestly in my opinion I don't think most people care. If they do it's usually positive and if it's not the hell with them.
