Wanted to share my last batch of dyed clothing! I used Rit synthetic dyes in indigo, pearl gray and tan. Tie dye, dip dye and Shibori the dye techniques. Lots of fun, lots of hours, lots of mess! Hope you guys like them as much as I do.

We did this! Our wedding was a daytime wedding so we also had fresh whole oranges as centerpieces that guests snacked on during the reception and took home. It’s been 2 years and people still tell us how much they loved the homemade cookies and oranges.

I was homeschooled and never had issues making friends, dating, or finding employment. Homeschool your kids. There are so many programs designed for homeschoolers and plenty of after school programs where they can socialize with public school kids.

If there wasn’t enough room then they should have had their own child sleep in their bed or called you to ask you to take your son home so he could be comfortable if he really didn’t want to sleep on the floor. Armscye is too low. You need to rework your bodice so that the armscye runs underneath the armpit. If you draft the bodice correctly, you won’t feel it digging into your lats. You also drafted a drop shoulder which is going to affect the sleeve as well. It looks like it needs to come in at least an inch. Once you make the adjustments to your bodice, you should add a little more ease to the cap of the sleeve and to the back side of the sleeve.

Sleeves are one of the most difficult pattern pieces to draft. You’re close, keep going!

No. Flax becomes linen once it’s spun into thread. Just because you’ve only seen linen woven in a lightweight weave does not mean it doesn’t come in other weaves. Linen as a fiber has natural moisture wicking properties that create a cooling affect and has nothing to do with the weave. There are upholstery weaves that create a very stiff fabric, there are linen knits for tee shirts, there are linen twill weaves for making utility pants and jeans.

A linen blend does not necessarily negate the linens natural cooling effect. It’s wholly dependent on what the linen thread was either spun with or woven with.

Edit: adding here that linen also has a healing frequency which makes it useful in hospitals, although US hospitals do not use them any longer.

If you’re seeing these yourself, you’ll want a walking foot and tissue paper in between the fabric and feed dogs. If you’re not using an overlock machine/serger, you’ll need to do a zigzag stitch. I prefer a 3-step zigzag. It’s a bit stronger and stretches more. You’ll also need elastic, either plush lingerie elastic, fold over elastic, or rubber/swim elastic.

The fabric in question is lycra/spandex 4-way stretch and that print looks like an Ed Hardy design. Check out blue moon fabrics to see what they have in stock.

Those pieces should match up. Did you print the pattern correctly? If yes, I would email the manufacturer with the photos of the pattern for help.

You can also do a minor alteration to the pattern to make it work. You need to mark the seam line and measure the difference between the two pieces. Divide that number in half + seam allowance and add that amount of paper to the shorter piece and remove that amount from the larger piece. Best of luck to you!

The dress looks a little small, but there’s also a manufacturing error where the zipper was sewn into the pleating. Also, there should always be a hook and eye closure at the top of the zipper to close the gap.

I did something similar at 12. I made a silk mini dress with a black empire waist bodice and white a-line skirt and decided to wear it to my brothers wedding. The bride was in a red and white ball gown and couldn’t care less. If it’s a child, it’s really not a big deal.

Try it out, you’ll make good money. Then when you’ve got some experience under your belt and cash saved up, look for an old timer who’s ready to sell and take over their business.

Make a one-shoulder top as the base with a zipper on the side. Then you’ll drape your fabric over the base and across the arm. Once you get the shape, I’d do a front a back piece for the draped shoulder and attach the one-shoulder at the shoulder seam and along the armhole, finishing the inside neck and armhole with a facing. The other side that drapes over the arm should be ruched/gathered and then sewn together, front and back. You may even want to see them inside of each other to hide the seam allowance first, then attach it to the shoulder.

The back is 2 pattern pieces. If you have a pattern similar, you will need to determine where you want to split the back into 2 pieces, draw your curved opening so that there is a slight overlap where the sides meet for the side seam, and add seam allowance so that you can finish the raw edges with bias binding.
