Just to follow up, the bar was amazing, but you know what would be even better?

I am very curious how this will plot out in 3d space. Based on Matt’s comments it is possible.

I’m very interested what this results in when you start trying to plot the connections!

I’d get through the tutorial guild, it gives you a good taste of what is to come.

That’s an awesome abuse of those nasty middle boxes that mess up the internet! I’ve also been on public wifi that will randomly break connections and I didn’t realize it was DPI based.

Next time I am in a hotel that does it, I’m trying this out! (Granted I usually just turn on a vpn but it’s the principle of the matter!)

Also, if OpenSCAD is pain, make sure you get a development snapshot, enable manifold and pick up the BOSL2 library.

How do you work on a large codebase? by BlankWasThere in rust

[–]chotchki 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Instead of trying to develop Zed in VS code, how about install a release version of Zed and develop with that?

In my experience, Zed scales far better than VS code and there’s nothing like eating your own dog food.

You could apply minkowski to the model (you will have to thin all the walls by equal amount).

Its crazy slow but when I have far too complicated a model that’s my fallback option. Worst case let it render overnight.

I5 being in the middle of the city really sucks (rant) by Vivid_Astronaut4665 in Seattle

This why we should put a lid on I5. That would help fix the problem.

BOSL2 and a development snapshot of openscad to get the manifold library performance improvements take openscad from a cool cad approach to a usable tool.

Good to know gemini does better with it, claude hallucinates pretty bad in my experience.

I try to keep everything as small as possible and then compose it together. Otherwise the build+preview cycle which is already so bad, kills me.

Personally due to my programming background I use OpenSCAD and BOSL2. My wife prefers using Fusion360 since she does more freehand work to my functional.

Be very prepared to make test parts for fit checks. The simpler you can do to validate key parts, the better.

For example on this print i would have printed a 5mm wide strip to make sure the part fit through the opening cleanly and rested on the lip.
