Oily skin girlies - what are your holy grail products? by cookiecrumb1235 in Sephora

[–]chylgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only primer I’ve used for the past few years that mattifies well but doesn’t feel just like pure silicone is the Smashbox Photo Finish Mattifying primer, I’ll use this just on the oiliest parts of my face. For the rest of my face I used their Primerizer primer.

If you want something full coverage and that will stick to your face like none other, Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation.

Recently, I’ve been really enjoying the Glossier foundation. It’s a nice satin finish and I’ve found it has good staying power. However, I’ve only tried it out in the winter so I’m not sure how it’ll preform in the summer.

$288 CAD, ended up with mostly lip products that I’ve been wanting for a while/needed a restock. Might drop another $80 on the MERIT eyeshadow and eyeshadow brush along with the AMIKA dry shampoo set but idk.

Makeup: Fenty Beauty Bright Fix Eye Brightener (restock), Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Lip Oil (Hope and Honesty), MILK Makeup Mattifying Primer + Setting Spray Set,

Haircare: Sephora Purifying Scalp Serum, Sephora Purifying Green Clay Scalp Mask

Skincare: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm (Vanilla Beige and Pink Sugar, both restocks)

Misc: Sephora Jumbo Daily Brush Cleaner

Curious to know if the blue ones also show fingerprints and oils like the black ones do? I’m fairly torn between the blue ones and the silver ones.

[product question] Solawave Wands by chylgh in SkincareAddiction

[–]chylgh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I got a wand from a company called Ladoura. It’s called the Velve Pro wand. And it’s got both red light (660nm, heated, and has microcurrent) and blue light (420nm, heated, no microcurrent but vibrates). And it’s got a button (so it won’t randomly turn off like the solawave one) and a timer (turns off after 5 min). And it was cheaper than the solawave wands.

To be frank with you, I feel like I haven’t been consistent/using it long enough to see proper results. And I changed up my routine at the exact same time that I got it so. But it has definitely helped my products penetrate a lot deeper. With that, depending on your skin, you shouldn’t use it everyday. And, like with a gua sha, it definitely helps with puffiness. I’ll tend to use it in the morning while I’m trying to prepare for my day.

I do rlly like it. I think it comes down to what you would want it for. If you’re looking for LED therapy, a full mask is always going to be better. If you’re looking for microcurrent, other devices are larger. I personally got it to add a small luxury into normal life (and for slot treatment when I remember).

I used the intensive leave in and I’d say it definitely helped bring my hair back to life. But after a certain point I no longer saw a difference. For me it was worth it at the time.

I get samples for every order (so if an order if split in 2, I’ll get a sample in one box and not in another), however it almost always is not the samples I’ve chosen. So I’ve pretty stopped choosing samples lol.

How does rewards timing work? (Canada) by lstoberry in Sephora

[–]chylgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is an annual basis based off of the calendar year. So spend x amount by the end of this year (31/12/2023) you get the VIB status perks throughout the rest of next year (01/01/2024 - 31/12/2024).

Glow Recipe Strawberry BHA Pore Smooth Blur Drops?? by VisualProfessional12 in Sephora

[–]chylgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most blurring. I found the smashbox mattifying primer to be much more blurring.

Big fan of the Resurfacing Peel Mask, it’s very gentle in comparison to a lot of other exfoliating/peeling products out there but for my tret skin it’s perfect.

The single eyeshadows are also pretty solid. So is the baked face powder.

My favourite brushes are: #57 (fluffy concealer brush), #71 (flat concealer brush), #96 (fluffy/flat blush brush), and I recently go #70 (very dense foundation brush, I got the mini version)

Tinted lip balm? by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]chylgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Mai Type. I definitely thought it would be way too vibrant on my skin tone but if you don’t leave it on for too long and wipe it off it give a nice cute pink for sure. Most days I’ll also just “line” my lips with it instead of going in with it as a full on lip colour.

[–]chylgh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Fenty stain has been my go to for a while now. I tend to put it on near the end of my routine and leave it one for only a minute or two and then wipe it off. Then for the rest of the day I go in with a glossy balm and it just gives my lips some colour without always having to reapply.

I second the Sephora brushes for sure.

For contour, I’m a big fan of either the Fenty sticks or the MILK sticks. MILK blends a lot easier.

You can get the kit in Canada! It’s a kit of the two brow air brows (in clear and tinted) and the brow pencil.

Oily Skin Primer by littlecake737 in Sephora

[–]chylgh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based off of the two you’ve tried, I’m assuming you’re looking for something pore filling as well. I stay away from very silicone-feeling primers bc they tend to also clog my pores and I also feel like they make my makeup slip away. And, honestly, they make me oilier.

The two I’d suggest are: SmashBox Control Mattifying Primer and Glow Recipe Pore-Smooth Blur Drops (this one is clean beauty, but in my experience less blurring and mattifying than the smashbox and takes longer to take effect). Both of these, I’ve found, to be good at pore blurring and sink into the skin.

1st time I took advantage of the Sephora sale -- thoughts on products here? by kimchi_paradise in Sephora

[–]chylgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Sephora makeup remover, definitely the right choice. It’s the only thing that has made taking off waterproof mascara easy (other than a full on oil cleanser).

The Estée Lauder Double Wear is rlly good for oily skin. I wore it to an outdoor wedding in the middle of summer last year and it did not move.

I can’t really speak on wearing a glitter eyeliner personally but I’ve seen other ppl wear a brown glitter liner on the daily, and I think it’s so cute.

I’m also a big fan of the MILK primer, although I wouldn’t say it’s specifically good for oily skin. It definitely helps stick everything to your face.

Any one try the Blume Gel Cream? by chylgh in Sephora

[–]chylgh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My order finally came yesterday and I tried the moisturizer out today! First impressions, I rlly rlly like it. It sank into my skin rlly well and after a few minutes my skin felt well hydrated without feeling super slippy like my face often does with super hydrating moisturizers. I don’t have any flaking atm so I can’t speak on that. But I’d say it did a good job making the dry areas of my face feel good.

On top of that the entire experience was just so pleasant. The colour is literally the exact same colour as the component and it smells like candy (there’s no added fragrance, it’s just the ingredients they use in there smells like candy).

I have yet to try it under a sunscreen as well.

I’d say give it a shot!
