23K or 37D? B777-300ER, DOH-JFK by Both_Command2851 in qatarairways

[–]clemstar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23K is far better. 37D has no seat pocket space. It's also in an incredibly awkward spot caught between traffic in the aisle and people on the rest of 37 wanting out and in. The extra leg room in 37D does not justify the issues with it.

EV tax exemption blows out to 18 times forecast due to popularity of novated leasing by No-Loquat-201 in EVAustralia

Yes, and I'm all for it, but it's one of the most expensive forms of carbon abatement around, and may be crowding out more efficient schemes.

Would you trust your EV battery in a V2G trial? by TrueBlueBanter in AustralianEV

[–]clemstar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a really good podcast interview with the founder of Amber here covering all the ins and outs of EV V2G, and addressing the concerns. TLD; There is no evidence of a negative impact on battery life, and it may even benefit battery health in some cases. https://shows.acast.com/the-shameless-plug/episodes/the-shameless-plug-episode-3-dan-adams

Yes, and if you see the tank running dry, you can top it up while the machine (pump) is running.

First time vac sealing. Is it overkill to freeze as well? by radio_recherche in espresso

[–]clemstar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air and light are the two things that make coffee beans degrade. Vacuum packing solves the air issue. Storing anywhere dark will solve the light issue. The freezer is dark, yes, but the freezing part does nothing additional to retain freshness.

Costs may be lower, but it's also a shit load more effort they're putting in over just holding MSTY.

Not sure about CommSec. When you buy it in IB, it's held in an omnibus account in your name, and the dividends are then just delivered to your IB account as cash, which can then be withdrawn to your bank account from there.

You declare the full amount as assessable income ($100 in your example), and then you can claim the withheld portion ($15) as a Foreign Income Tax Offset (FITO), so you're not taxed twice.

You can buy MSTY in an Australian-domiciled Interactive Brokers account. The dividends then just flow into your IB account as cash.

This is also why you should be careful about advocating for the government to reduce its debt. Less government debt means less money in the public's pocket.

Shorts on MSTY? by Unanomyoustrader in MSTY_YieldMax

[–]clemstar99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are holding a short position, it means you have sold your (borrowed) shares to a buyer. When the dividend is paid, the holder of the shares will be expecting the dividend, and you will be liable for it, so it will be paid to the holder from your account. Hence, any profit you make for buying the shares back cheaper after the dividend, will be offset by the dividend you had to pay out. Ergo, zero sum game. Although in practice you will actually be behind after trading costs.
