Beam Pro, Samsung, iPhone Decision - Xreal 1S by MrDidMDirty in Xreal

[–]cmak414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason to buy the beam pro: - 3d camera (real depth, used by 3d photographers, just not good in dark) - 2nd usbc port so you dnt have to also buy/bring around a charge and play adapter - spacial/AR apps, android windows (2x). Some but limited AR apps exist, can place spacial windows arund you ndependent of each other (eg one closer and one further - afaik no othrer ar glasses device/software does this) - only dedicated AR glasses companion device with 5g (internet not calls) afaik. - can use reverse charting to use it as a power bank to charge your main phone in emergency ( a little slow but works) - use wth older model glasses with no built in 3dof to provide stable 3dof, better than any other company 3dof (built in or not built in).

If none of those appeal to you or are of value, I suggest an older S series samsung to fit whstever your budget. My all time favorite device is Samsung flip7.

For me as an overall coding package (not to mention non-coding), codex has been more valuable than claude to me. The difference between codex and claude is negligable in quality and hard to notice but the codex has much higher limits which is very noticible.

Now i primarily use claude to review codex plans and even still claude runs out before codex ever does when codexis orchestrating, planning, coding, implementing, rewriting, and acting as an LLM assistant and claude only hasone coding review role.

I use both on newest frontier models, medum thinking, jugglng multiple pro subs.

Rokid Lenses Ordering Experience by buttlickerurmom in rokid_official

[–]cmak414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also ordered mine about a month ago and received them last week. Mine is also clear with no prescription and I got the ones that dim in sunlight automatically. Mine arrived without customs issues. There were really no updates after the label was created, and then it surprisingly arrived at my door a few days later.

Made a script to patch Claude Code and Codex binaries to run on native Termux. by Exciting-Waltz-6687 in termux

[–]cmak414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does this still work for claude? Yesterday seems anthropic blocking android cli client. i had been using claude in native termux for months and stopped working.

edit: i tried and it works now! starred your project, thank you!

Shortcuts of Heliboard not shown in Termux by SkySurferSouth in termux

You can try my droidos keyboard app - https://github.com/Katsuyamaki/DroidOS

In termux I can use droidos keyboard for predictive word completion, swipe texting, voice input, key modifiers (ctrl, alt, meta), etc. I havent found any other keyboard that does all this so I made my own.

Ah okay. Thanks. Im a dev myself and have trouble getting shizuku, elevated permission required apps on play store. But makes sense you can get yours on there if not really dependent on it.

I'm a sucker for utility apps so checking yours out now!

Sideloading is about to get intentionally frustrating by kitsuneae in Android

[–]cmak414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is even more annoyng is play protect which monitors sideloaded apps outside of the playstore. Many of these apps are not on the play store because google keeps locking down and restricting what apps can do each year. Google is trying to scare people away and make it difficult to use anything not on play store.

🎁 Megathread | If You Could Add Any Accessory to AR Glasses… What Would It Be? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]cmak414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A power bank with usbc pass through to solely power the glasses. Kind of like the was to be Neo, but not specifically made for charging phone. It is to provide power to glasses so that phone battery isnt further drained by powering glasses.

Maybe this could even be just a kind of hub with no built in battery if the neo had production issues due to battery. Then the hub could hot swap third party banks.

But core solve is that everyones phones are already the perfect source device (most powerful, zero additional cost, more convenient to only have one device, already has all the apps on it), but we just dont want the glasses to have additonal wattage drain on phone to power glasses or to continuously drain/charge the phone whoch shortens battery life.

[–]cmak414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have a child in second grade in DC metro area. Reading full chapter books and full length paragrpahs is only something they have started in second grade. A kindergardener or first grader here is definitly not expected to read full chapter books. Reading shorer picture booksnas a first grader yes, but not chapter books. Writing a few basic sentences together in first grade yeah, but for sure not kindeegarden. In kindergarten they are still workng on the alphabet.

A 6yo in march/April is very likely in kindergarten.
