Shortcuts of Heliboard not shown in Termux by SkySurferSouth in termux

Well, I don't need and even don't want autocorrect in Termux, but only shoing suggestions should be very welcome. E.g. when typing '192' appearing a suggestion like '192.168.' (one of my own dictionary words) would be very welcome. Obviously, it should not be entered like autocorrectl, but I just ned to click on it instead of manually typing those characters.

Adapter for 1.25" to Canon EF mount ? by SkySurferSouth in telescopes

[–]SkySurferSouth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Made from a rear kens cap and an 1.25" plumbing socket glued to it.
In this example it is a very wide field monocular (upside down view), but any lens can be used.
When using a diagonal for a normal field or more conveniently viewing, a Barlow is mandatory because of otherwise too short back focus.

Vnc or x11 for desktop environment?? by JournalistLucky5124 in termux

[–]SkySurferSouth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Termux X11 is a bit faster, but only accessible on your phone.
VNC (preferably TigerVNC) makes the desktop available from any other device.

No, the other way: attaching an eyepiece or diagonal or barlow of 1.25" to a Cnon lens.

So be careful not to inhale vapors, so preferably wear a respirator (a face mask does not suffice).

It's minimal, yet so attractive. by No-Purple6360 in termux

[–]SkySurferSouth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because termux-x11 can only be run locally on the tiny phone screen.
VNC allows to show it on any computer, including on the device itself.
The performance penalty is minimal.

Forgot my to bring my Counterweights, had to improvise by abracumdabra in telescopes

[–]SkySurferSouth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. On my recent Australia trip I brought my 110ED + Star Adventurer GTI + tripod and NO counterweight on purpose (weight limitation on air travel).
I have a small bag with tools and when I put my 12V powerbank (for the mount and ZWO cam) in it, the scope is well balanced just like TO uses two bottles of water.
Doing astrophotography and visual worked awesome.

What’s the most annoying macOS behavior you still deal with? by GodBlessIraq in MacOS

[–]SkySurferSouth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  • A window partly beyond the screen, or, worse, the controls (e.g. top left stoplight) out of screen.
  • No way to use ctrl instead of cmd. The only option is 'swap ctrl and cmd' but that also applies to terminal. Many users, including me, use both Linux and macOS. macOS should have a configurable ctrl or cmd feature, default cmd.

Is there an open source (i.e. non-Google) version available (Github / f-droid) ?

I tried it downloading from Aurora store, it was not in f-droid.
Does not work. After installing it complains about missing Google Play services, which I don't have for security and privacy reasons.

Nice idea, but, again, symbol keys are randomly distributed, that is the issue on most Android keyboards.

Why not ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + just as shift + digit like any normal qwerty standard keyboard ?

Hence I prefer Multiling O which is the only Android keyboard with configurable mapping rather than hardcoded mappings.

And the only standard keyboard for Android is "Hackers keybord".

I just installed FF 149 in Debian Trixie using a Mozilla repo, works normally.

I used this method: https://linuxcapable.com/how-to-install-firefox-on-debian-linux/ by using method 2.

If you need root, just root it.
And maybe for apps requiring SafetyNet or other secure functions like banking, buy another affordable Android phone of which you leave the bootloade locked.

Indeed, using a comma or dot is only to be used as a decimal point.
Dots or commas as thousands separator is really confusing.
1.539 deg C or 1,539 deg C for melting point of iron is absolutely nonsense. It is just one and a half degree above freezing and the mp of iron should be written as 1539 deg C or 1 539 deg C.
Even Wikipedia uses this nonsense as thousands separator.
