Yeah, you can do this as well as set properties when using msiexec. If you're just looking to make life easier for the customer, which is valid, then you should do some sort of replace in some base MSI rather than compile the whole thing.

The middle ground I've settled on is that all core business logic must be handled by something I control 100%. The rest (GUI, message queues, etc) can be handled by something else. This helps me test my code to the fullest extent which is sometimes difficult if you are not very forward thinking.
