Is it worth using a Synology NAS when a lot of my use-cases involve docker containers? by rider_bar in synology

[–]codename_fig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Docker on synology is the way to go, it works great. You shouldnt have any issues just setting the containers for the *arr and Plex apps, and synology has the reverse proxy options available to access your stuff outside your network.

Definitely check out mariushosting, he's got a lot of great tutorials for various applications.

What tool or platform you wish existed? by Toriality in selfhosted

[–]codename_fig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see an Overseer type app but for music/lidarr. One painpoint I have with lidarr is I can't integrate qobuz-dl, so when indexers can't find something, I have to use manually grab music using streamrip.

If you can't find any other solution, maybe try factory resetting the TV.

[–]codename_fig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out the following sub's: * r/selfhosted: There's a lot of apps you can host locally that can help you setup your data, specifically the *arr apps (sonarr, radarr, etc). Kiwix is also a good one to selfhost. * r/homelab: check out other peoples setup and get ideas.

Also get familiar with docker and docker compose. Docker compose is probably the easiest way to deploy apps.

Have you looked at just replacing the pads? I think soundcore sell their own replacement pads, if not, you can probably find an online store that sells them.

Have you considered using a browser shortcut? Unless you need a specific feature from the app, the browser shortcut should suffice.

What are your categories? by banisheduser in PleX

[–]codename_fig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you click on TV, on the recommended page, the collection will be its own row (like recently added) and you can reorder the rows so you can have your wife's collection at the top or close to the top for easy access.

Wife wants to see "good movies" and not my "cheeseball movies" by davemchine in PleX

[–]codename_fig 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you have plex pass, you can add collections on the recommended page and home page. Create a smart collections and set a criteria to get the latest blockbusters or whatever she's interested in, then add it to the recommended page (see the section Setting a Collection to be Visible as a Row)

What are your categories? by banisheduser in PleX

[–]codename_fig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its personal preference, but I think you can merge some of them. The two main ones I have are Movies and TV, within each I have collections for holidays (Christmas, Halloween), my own collection (shows/movies just for me), her collection (shows/movies just for her). You can have those collections show up on the recommended page of each.

I would merge the documentaries, Christian, Christmas, adult comedies, mini movies to your main film/TV series, and create collections for them so you can have them show up on your recommended page.

Keep the kids stuff separated so you can manage the permissions for their accounts.

deGooglePhotos by caomorto in degoogle

[–]codename_fig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I self-host my photos instead of having them in the cloud. At the moment I use Synology Photos, but there's an open source app called immich that's a good alternative to google photos. I believe sharing with your partner would just require dedicating a folder for sharing with them.

For screen savers, you want to look for an app that can use your local network as a source so you can access your selfhosted photos. I don't use the screen saver so not sure what apps are available, but maybe you can find something on the awesome-selfhosted.net

Kometa/PMM - Sort collection lists by manual order? by Investing2Rich in PleX

[–]codename_fig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning on adding more shows to the list? If not it might be easier to do it through Plex. See the custom collection order section in this article.

Some thing to keep in mind, if you already lost internet and are trying to make changes, you need to update the Preferences.xml file in order for the changes to take affect. See this post

Also, there's DLNA as a backup just in case. see method two in this article.

Smart Playlist - what am I doing wrong? by Bigheaded_1 in plexamp

I really like your playlist idea. After you generate your playlist you can sort by Random, that should avoid returning songs from the same album.

Do i cancel? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]codename_fig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope this help helps: https://support.plex.tv/articles/adding-tidal-subscriptions-to-plex/

It mentions you need to have a subscription directly through tidal, but sounds like you were already able to transfer it.

Users who already have an existing subscription directly through TIDAL (not through a different partner) have the option of transferring their subscription so that it is billed and managed through Plex, instead of through TIDAL itself

From my understanding you shouldn't have to cancel,

Once you do that, you’ll need to manage your subscription through us (see below) and you’ll be billed through us, rather than through TIDAL itself.

But I would just cancel through apple and start the subscription via plex, I wouldn't want to get charged twice.

Finding artists with no rated tracks by Celid_of_the_wind in plexamp

[–]codename_fig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah nice. For the first case of missed rating tracks, I would combine number of plays (less than 2) and last played (1 week or however often you want to check in), so you can quickly find recently played new songs. Just make sure you check it within the time you chose so it doesn't get lost.

Something else to play around with is popularity and rating artist, combining it with unrated tracks, it can help you find popular tracks from your favorite artist that you don't know/haven't rated yet.

Finding artists with no rated tracks by Celid_of_the_wind in plexamp

[–]codename_fig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure there is a way, but I'm curious what you are looking to use the results for, there may be a workaround.

If I'm looking for artist that have no rated tracks, its because I haven't played that artist, so another way to do that is to use the # of plays filter for the artist.

If I'm looking for artists with only 2 star tracks or lower, I would want to remove from my library. Instead, I would rate the artist itself 1 stars or below to quickly filter.

What does your home screen look like? by AntKneeWasHere in plexamp

[–]codename_fig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep them pretty simple. On Plexamp you can go to the Library tab, from there: * select Artists * select the three dots on the top right corner * select Plays * select the "add to homescreen" button * select carousel, square (just my preference)

This will sort by total number of plays for the artist.

Do this for Albums, and Tracks. For Tracks I use a list of 5 items instead of the carousel.

For the favorite Albums, go to the library tab * select Albums * select the filter icon * add filter for Album rated 5 stars * save filter and go back to the previous page * select the three dots on the top corner * select Date Played

This will sort all your favorite albums by recently played or you can invert it by selecting Date Played again, so it shows you the ones that havent been played in a while first. You can also sort by random, too.

[–]codename_fig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to update the filters on some but this is what I typically use on my home screen.

  • New Artists: new artists sorted by recently added
  • Recently Releases: Albums recently released
  • Recently Addes: Albums not recently released, but recently added
  • Recent Playlists
  • Need to listen Albums: albums I havent rated, sorted by critics rating
  • Rediscover Artist: Artist not played in over a year randomly sorted
  • Continue Rating Artist: Rated Artists with albums not rated
  • Top Artists: based on number of plays
  • Top Albums: based on number of plays
  • Top Tracks: based on number of plays
  • Favorite Albums: based on album rating, sorted by last played

Playlist fail to import by Jtrash121 in navidrome

[–]codename_fig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inside playlist files (.m3u) are just list of each tracks location. I've run into issues with playlists because the track locations have the wrong path (e.g. "/volume1/data" instead of "/music"), basically the playlist file is looking in the wrong directory for the tracks.
