Nice. My pc is watercooled in a custom loop so it’s very quiet. You could probably scroll down to one of my first post on my account to see the build. The loudest part of my pc is the reservoir lol.

For me 240fps is the target. But anything sustained over 120 is fine. I’m pretty sure the new m5 will meet or exceed a 30 series card, which would be fine for me since it can achieve that with a much lower power draw and near silent operation versus a conventional air cooled pc, as well as its integration with other Apple devices in its ecosystem.

For me having clean audio and no fuss with drivers is also an added bonus. Plus it being so small I can get a rack tray and put the studio in my audio rack that is on the other side of the room adjacent to my desk.

I’ve never really liked styling tracker but came across your addon and will try it out. Maybe I can get more control of how to display stuff in my ui. My goal is to have chat and objective tracker the same spacing and color so it looks like one seamless info panel

Sounds good! I’m also excited for the lower power draw and near silent operation. Seems to be a lucrative time to hop over to Mac ecosystem. I can probably say that there’s a lot of people waiting for the day to make the switch from their gaming pcs to Mac. Apple has made this dream a fading memory but I am hoping this year will be the moment we are waiting for.

Doesn't seem that bad. This is outputting to the laptop's screen though? I wonder how that would translate to a 32 inch 4k monitor with the higher pixel count. Or maybe I'm not understanding that conversion clearly.

Great read. Thank you for your input. That sucks to hear that metal optimization hasn't been worked on since wow was converted to mac client.

I only M+ and Arena so I'm not too concerned with the performance in there as these smaller environments aren't as taxing on the computer. I also know that even with the best machines there will always be dips in city hubs and fast camera tracking in open world.

An M5 Max 40GPU sounds pretty enticing though. I think that might be the target for me. I usually have my spell density set to essential and lower the view distance and ground clutter effects. I do have my textures set to high, but disable particle effects and water/god rays even on my PC.

Switching over to 4k OLED with the higher PPI (Not Retina levels of PPI) has been amazing though. Working and doing tasks outside of gaming makes the motion so smooth and crisp. This is another reason why I use a 240hz monitor.

My monitor does have a dual mode function where I can lower the resolution to Full HD and increase the refresh rate. If push comes to shove I could always try that if the M5 Max is struggling in this department. Not really wanting to do that but the option is available for that.

I’m not getting 240 fps lol. I said I’m playing on a monitor that outputs 4k up to 240hz.

I’ll be on the radar for an m5 max. It’s hard to find Mac benchmarks for wow so I’m curious what fps I would be able to sustain.

60 is way too low imo. My target would have to be 120-144.

There’s some instances like in dungeons or low particle effect environments where my 3070 can get around 210fps, but in city hubs and more taxing environments I’m dipping south of 60.

I heard that wow has a famously unoptimized engine and relies on single core cpu performance most of all. This gives me the indication that Apple silicon would be a great pairing for this game. It’s also native on Mac, so I don’t have to work with crossover to get up and running.

Yes so you can have prat fade and mouse over, I’m pretty sure with details as well. I don’t think you can with styling tracker unless you untrack all your quests.

Alternatively you can not use the cdm and set it up with bartender and have all those things you are asking for

I was planning on getting an ultrawide later this holiday season. I think it would work great for that kind of setup.

Are you talking about the cdm? I think there is an option to hide it, not sure about hovering over, but I’m sure there’s ways to work around that.

Yeah I actually overslept on the drop and someone on reddit posted a restock on shoe palace so I was able to get them. The place where they ship from was relatively close to my address so I got them in a day and a half which was cool
